Based on the reputation of Perkins restaurants, while traveling on the road, we decided to make a stop for lunch. Our server,TOOT, was so pleasant and addressed us with a smile and welcome that made us feel as if we were coming to our own local restaurant. The diverse menu gave us the option of 55+ meal, which was just the right amount of food without being excessive. We each had a two egg omelette cooked to perfection and served with a mammoth muffin that was served warm and was delicious. The manager,JOSH, came over to our table to welcome us and to acknowledge and ensure that everything was satisfactory. Perkins restaurant on E Van Fleet Drive in Lakeland Florida is a keeper. The restaurant is clean, the restrooms are clean, and the staff is welcoming and very accommodating. If you're in the area, make it a point of visiting this restaurant for a nice home-cooked meal. read more

Our server Kristen was very pleasant she greeted us with a smile and checked on us quite often to make sure we were still doing okay, even though she was the only server on at the time she made sure she paid attention to everyone that was there. I had the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast and my eggs were terrible, my bacon was fatty and oddly crunchy, the blueberry pancakes were good. My Mom liked her pancakes, but really disliked her eggs and couldn't eat them. My brother's both liked their cheeseburgers and fries. The peanut butter pie was delicious! My wife and I stopped by here on the way home from a week at Palm Beach. Got An early start back and by late morning were in the mood for breakfast. A bit busy but we were seated right away. Coffee came right away as we scanned the menu. My wife ordered eggs over medium, bacon, and pancakes. I chose eggs over easy, bacon, and wheat toast. The universal did not want me to support my local coffee shop. One coffee shop was close on Monday and the other was close for a private party. So off to Perkins I went. Their coffee is pretty good. I really enjoyed the California Egg Benedict and my husband enjoyed the chicken salad. Perkins was advertising three new desserts. I got a peanut butter which I ate in stages. It's was delicious. I wished I took a picture of it. My server was great and the place was clean. Oh, when I check in Perkins gave me a 20% discount. My son and I went to Perkins tonight with all intention that they still closed late. We walked in at 10:50 and was promptly greeted with they close at 11. No worries. We were gonna head somewhere else, until I'm assuming the manager "Damion" came out. I told him that my son was just wanting a turkey dinner and that it was no problem to go somewhere else. I apologized for walking in 10min until closing time with no idea. He quickly said.. "I can make that happen". And he most certainly did! That is what customer service is all about! We dined in at around 1130 on a Friday. It wasn't super busy; plenty of places to sit but for some reason it took a while for someone to seat us. When they did, they put us right in the middle of the room at a big round table. It then took forever for someone to come back by. Ok, "forever" might be an exaggeration but it was a while. A different person came to take our drink order. When she brought them, the drinks were wrong. Another long while before someone else came to take our order. And then, it was so much longer to actually get our food! So much waiting with two hungry kids. Our order: Southwest Avocado Salad: the beans and corn had some kind of slime on them, the chicken was bland and the shredded cheese was all clumped together. Kids pancakes: tasted ok but Kid said there were "chunks in them". Kids Mac and cheese: this looked exactly like the stuff you buy at the shop in a box with the powdered cheese mix. And it was all globbed together in globs. Breakfast Burger: Actually really good! It's a burger with bacon, cheese, hash browns and an egg. Fried Pickles appetizer: No idea! They never brought them! When we asked about them the server said "Sorry! Want some to go, or something?" We just told them to forget the pickles. Each of the kids' meals and the burger meal came with deserts; cookies for the kids, pie for the burger. Server forgot about those, too! We did remind her and got them on our way out. That burger was pretty darn good and the people were friendly enough. That's the bonus here. But it was all just sooooooooo sloooooooowww. So very sloooooowwwwww. read more

This is the Perkins if we have to meet my team before seeing my client here. We like to strategize here with breakfast or lunch. Today is no different since our presentation is at the afternoon. This place is senior citizen heaven. Average age is well over 60. Sometimes they love come to your table to chat with you. I have been here several time. Today lunch I ordered the grilled salmon dish. We have a choice of two side. I have ask for asparagus and the pilaf rice. The salmon is grilled under the Cajun spice. They prepare it good with right grilling technique. Our waitress is attentive. The manager has come to our table to check if we like it. Fortunately, our food was ordered before the 35 people group. When my parents and I walked in and wanted to sit in the 6 seater round table cause it's kinda hard when there's two tall guys and a little lady sitting at a booth or four seater table. The manager said well that six seater is for six people my father replied with my son is 6'7 and it's hard for him to sit at a small table or booth to spread out. Quickly the manager changed the way she spoke and came off she allowed us to sit at the six table. I ate the salmon it was great and the salad my mother had was delicious she said. My father had the Tuna fish sandwich it was amazing he claims. The waitress made sure our drinks and dinner came out perfectly and no issues came around. We experienced a well-worn Perkins today with seats with holes, worn-out carpets and forgotten restrooms with an inexperienced, but friendly server. Food, nevertheless, was good at breakfast, but fairly basic. Coffee was served warm, not hot, and just awful. I'm sorry to see a Perkins going downhill, especially since even a nicer one closed in Tampa near USF as part of a bankruptcy. Death spiral for the restaurant company and franchisees that serve the finest pancakes around? The Bartow restaurant, we're told by staff, would be remodeled soon. I'm not counting on it. Would give zero stars if I could. Went in with party of 4, was sat pretty quickly but took about 10 mins to even place drink order. Person taking order wasn't even a server and she was covered in flour or something. Maybe a baker from the back? Still no server for another 10 minutes. Finally order. 45 mins later, still no food. You would think with Covid and that most businesses are struggling to keep the doors open, places would do everything possible to be outstanding. Not the case at this place. We arrived, expecting to be seated immediately, but stood at the desk for a good 5 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us, then after finally being seated, waited another 5 minutes for the server. Instead of taking a drink order, she took our order for the meal, and forgot to bring silverware, napkins, straws or any condiments. The food was marginal at best, and lacked taste. It tasted like it had been on a steam table all day. When we were about half finished, the server brought the check, never offered dessert and basically disappeared. My suggestion, avoid this dump. With so many places closing, and this place being run so poorly, it's just a matter of time before it locks the doors. read more

Weirdest restaurant experience ever. The food was just ok. The service was friendly but very slow. We waited a while for someone to even acknowledge we needed to be seated. Got our drinks and ordered. I received my salad with no fork. My husband had to go find one for me. When our food finally arrived we got ranch with our baked potato instead of sour cream. No butter for the potato. The steak medallions were more like pot roast and there was no steak sauce in sight. I had to remind them to bring me cocktail sauce. The shrimp was really good though. The waitress was kind but very slow, forgetful and kept spilling drinks on people. I had to wait again when I wanted to pay. I saw several workers walk right past me as I waited for someone to take my money. The person ringing me up did give me a 10 percent discount for all the waiting. Stopped at Perkins had a turkey dinner which was good but the wait staff leaves a lot to be desired The only one that seem to know what she was doing was the manager I assumed she's a manager she's behind the cash register but the young girls that were taking care of us this did not have any idea what they were doing had to ask for a straw two times and then I asked for oil and vinegar for my salad and picked it up and it was sticky so the manager came over and took it in the back and wiped it off. The food wasn't bad, but the service was horrible. When we arrived, there was no one waiting. It took several minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. That should've been our hint to go somewhere else, but we waited. Quickly the lobby filled with customers waiting to be noticed, and none of us were asked for our names or how many are in our parties for several minutes. Eventually someone walked up with a coloring page, flipped it over, and started taking down names with a crayon. Once we were seated, we put in our drink orders and asked to put in the kids meal order first so it would come out first, since we have toddlers who were hungry and impatient. Emma took the order, and came back a little while later to take our food order. After a long time of waiting, all of the food came out at once, even though we specified we wanted the kids meal first. It was lukewarm from sitting until the rest of our food was cooked, when we wanted it early. Emma put every single hot skillet directly in front of the young toddlers and we had to quickly move them away so the kids wouldn't get burned by the skillets. We sat with empty drinks for a long time, and waited probably 5-10 minutes on refills. When she brought the refills back, one of the three drinks was wrong because she said she "guessed" instead of asking us or checking her pad. That was the last we saw of her except a very brief moment when she put the bill on the table. We had not been here before and didn't know you pay at the front counter, and eventually got tired of waiting on her to return. Another server had to grab a to-go box for us to pick up Emma's slack. It's now 1:11pm and we are currently waiting for our food. This is by far the worst restaurant I've ever been to as far as customer service is concerned. I'm not too sure about how the food will taste since we haven't received it. I will give an update once I actually taste the food. It's now 1:43pm and we barely got our food. Waitress was very nice, but seemed overworked. The food was average. We had a strawberry waffle with eggs & bacon and the spinach & mushroom skillet with a 99¢ short stack. Again, food was average. However, the little one is a pancake head!! Usually devours them, but she ate only 3/4 of a pancake here. This is the second time I have come to this location. The first time was during the later evening hours. Food came out wrong then and I had attributed it to the late hours. This time we got here at 12:52pm. It is almost 2:00 and still have not received our food. This is beyond unacceptable!!!! Three of us ordered eggs, and two ordered sandwiches. Unless we are waiting for a hen to lay eggs, there is no reason for this delay. More than 50% of the restaurant is also empty so the kitchen should not be backed up. People are quick to post a review after a bad experience, I want to share a pleasant experience. While on the way back home from Clearwater my mom and I stopped here. There was a short wait for a table which is expected on a Sunday. Our friendly server Tamethea greeted us and took our order. Both meals, the California Avocado Benedict and Magnificent Seven, were tasty. My fruit bowl was full of fresh fruit and the pancake syrup was served warm. The server flipped a cup of salsa off a plate and it tumbled into my daughter's lap then onto the floor and onto my leather purse. She apologized and brought a rag out... But seriously? We waited almost an hour for our dinner to be served. We asked our server for honey mustard and she never brought it (we had to ask another server). But she showed up 15 minutes later reeking of smoke. We had to ask for the bill... And not a single credit for the stain left by the salsa, or the torture of a 2 hour dining experience with a 2yr old who was pushed beyond her bedtime. No comped drinks... So just yesterday we went here for dinner. I ordered turkey dinner , it is supposed to come with dressing mashed potatoes and gravy. Green beans and obviously turkey slices. What I got was a lump of dressing with three slices of turkey little bit of gravy on top a lump of mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were cold as I took a first spoon full. I returned the plate, because of this issue. and I had no green beans on the plate in the first place . The waitress said they could add the green beans or asparagus. So I asked for asparagus. I got the plate the asparagus were tasteless limp. The potatoes had been swished around and the gravy was now dried on the turkey. Obviously it had just been reheated. I did not even want to eat that. When I mentioned it to the manager he simply said the cook was. new and still learning he said the cook has only been here for one month. I'm thinking to myself how long does it take for you to realize not to serve cold food to the customers. Ugh! Such a Lame Excuse. The waitress asked if they could bring me something else. I've been going to this restaurant for years as it's always my mothers request on Mothers Day. Well this year will be the last. Upon receiving our coffee the coffee pot was dripping out some sort of black sludge, obviously from not being adequately cleaned, when we pointed it out our waitress offered to "get us a napkin to wipe it off our coffee mugs" (we never got those napkins consequently). When I ordered, with one modification, she said "oh that's just like _____ item, I'll put that in for you hun". Well turns out it wasn't I got one less egg and one less piece of bacon than I was trying to order. My son who was with us, wanted fruit with his breakfast, but they only had grapes, since "they were busy". The food wasn't horrible, in fact it was what I would expect out of Perkins, decent but that's about it. While I don't expect white glove service at Perkins, I do however expect friendly, and attentive service, and a clean restaurant, while I expect that they simply may have truly been busy and we got a bum waitress, I worry that the coffee pot was indicative of the cleanliness of the rest of their restaurant, if they can't manage to keep their coffee pots clean, what else are they cutting corners on? I will not be back and I'd encourage you, if you in Perkins to eat, check your coffee mug, make sure it's clean. read more

Seemed as though no one working , someone finally seated us, waitress finally came and appeared to have something else occupying her attention besides taking our order. Perkins used to be one of my favorite places to grab breakfast when traveling cross country as a child. I decided to visit the local Perkins after not having tried it for about two decades and it was disappointed that it did not live up to my memories of it. There are definitely better places to grab breakfast. While their food is not bad, there are better tasting options. The service was not that great either.
