Rude hostess (he told someone he hated his job), unexperienced waitress, not friendly, got 2 of our orders wrong, took an hour to get food

Our meal was awful. Everything came out cold and oily. Our kids got a kids meal order of the turkey dinner and received one single slice of turkey that was the diameter of a typical table coaster along with 10 french fries. We complained and the waitress apologized profusely after if she came back to our table and the kitchen would not allow her to give any more fries to us. It was crazy. Our waitress was incredible though. The sweetest most attentive and friendly waitress ever. Her name was Victoria and she was amazing despite how awful the kitchen was. Unfortunately, we will never return to this location as the food was so poor. I waffled between 3 and 4 stars here. It's your pretty standard Perkins, though it looks a little newer on the inside than some, which is nice. Came with some friends on Father's Day and there was a wait (which I expected, but there were lots of open tables so huh?). Our server was friendly, but she was slow. I was just going to order hashbrowns (I'd already eaten) and she talked me into their loaded hashbrowns (they were pretty good). My friends both got muffins with their meals, and it took forever for them to come out. Drink refills were a little slow too, and overall the food took a long time to come out. She also messed up my friend's order, who wanted an egg white omelette and got a regular omelette instead. She split the bill up for us, which was nice, but then when we got up front to pay the system wasn't letting them split it up. Since we were all friends it was okay, but it was a little odd that she told us we could split and then it couldn't. Perkins is hit or miss, in my opinion. They have some really good breakfasts, and their burgers are decent, but that is about where it ends. Their dinner entrees are low quality and very overpriced for what you get. Drinks are expensive at almost $4 for a soda, and they don't have any healthy salads. Their soups are bagged, or frozen, I'm not, but they leave something to be desired. Service is also hit or miss; sometimes it's great and other times not so much. They do have good pies and muffins though. All in all, Perkins is what it is, like going to Denny's or someplace like that. You get what you pay for, although you usually pay for more than what you get. Cleanliness is also hit and miss. Sometimes the place is very clean and well kept, and other times it's filthy when you walk in. Stick with breakfast, burgers, and sweets, and you should leave satisfied with your overall experience. read more

First tried to post Google review, but Perkins blocked ability to post reviews for that location! Didn't know a business could do that. Guess they expect negative reviews?! So posting my review on Yelp. We arrived for breakfast at 6:30am. You could hear three female employees chatting in the kitchen area. No employee in the dining area. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, given menus and served coffee. They HAD to have heard the entrance door open and our chatter as we walked in. After waiting 10 minutes we walked out. A business that does not accept reviews is a red flag. Management not willing to hold themselves accountable. We highly recommend Black Bear Diner. No wait. Food here is not great would I eat it again probably not but my main reason for 1 stars is because you will be lucky if you can get an actual person to acknowledge you it took 15min for someone to FINALLY help and there where maybe 2 tables taken a couple came in and asked if I was waiting I told them yes and they asked how long told them about 10-15min the reply "doesn't surprise me" after an additional 10 min they left and so did I. He was very pleasant and accommodating in our requests when taking our order. I observed him as he took orders from other customers. Service: There was no one to greet us when we entered. There were others waiting at the door to be seated so we waited in line. There was maybe 3 waitresses, and there seemed to be no urgency or dress code for that matter. The entire time we were at the restaurant there was no one stationed at the counter. How do they know someone isn't going to walk out without paying? I noticed smoke breaks were something that was most desired by almost all employees since I saw 3 walk out during the hour we were at the restaurant to have one. Atmosphere: The place was clean, but it was just lacking...something. Maybe it was because there was only 5 tables seated in the whole place? It was missing that lively, warm, friendly luster that I'm used to in a Perkins... Food: Everything that I was served (minus my coffee) was luke warm. Perkins, much like Denny's, has some key positives: consistent, if unimaginative, food; clean, generic, decor; but out importantly, breakfast served round the clock. We stopped in for a midday breakfast after a late start on vacation. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and the interior was clean and pleasantly Midwestern. The food was just ok. The hash browns were good, but served in small portions, and the bacon was similarly skimpy, though okay in other regards. You do get some bang for your buck in other ways: Monday is apparently free pie day, and you can even take a slice with you for later. If you order coffee with your meal, you get a carafe on you table, so you can refill to your heart's content. The price was quite reasonable. read more

I've always been a huge fan of Perkins, loved it growing up as a kid!! I'd get the same meal every time, always tasted just as I remember. As of today I will no longer be going to this Perkins, they're constantly getting meals wrong and they'd never greet me or my friends nicely. Today, As normal I got the same meal as I always have. I had to do curbside pickup since I was in a rush, I ended up having to turn back around and go back to the restaurant. I get my meal and as me and my friend are driving off, THEY FORGOT THE MAIN PART OF MY MEAL?! I ordered pancakes, there were no pancakes in my bag???!!! Our hotel was next door and it was late so our options were limited, but of course Perkins is open 24 hours. Yay. This morning we were asked to wear a mask when we walked into the lobby. We pointed to a table about 20 feet away and asked if we could go sit down right away since there was only four other people sitting down in the restaurant (about 15 second walk). The employees said there are two signs up and masks are required. My friend handed me a mask and I put it over my mouth for 15 seconds until I sat down. I watched as an employee walked into the lobby and back into the kitchen without a mask. I then watched an employee finish his shift and stand in the restaurant with another employee carrying on a conversation without a mask. Seriously? If you are going to enforce an unconstitutional rule, please don't do it to the people who are paying good money for a product you are selling, your food. Lost a customer this morning. This would've been 4 or 5 stars most likely but a few things we experienced. Our servers were friendly! Nothing wrong with them. But red flag number one was after we ordered, our waitress comes back out to let us know they needed to restart some equipment so the food may be out in a little longer than usual, which is fine, whatever. But we get the food maybe 15 minutes later, and two of three of our dishes were wrong. Which would make sense if we had made any modifications to our dishes, but we didn't! I ordered the patty melt thing, which was supposed to have the usual lettuce, tomatoes and grilled onions. I got my sandwich and when I saw it put down on the table, it had nothing but the cheese and meat. The other dish was the chicken and broccoli pasta, which was advertised to have bacon in it and didn't. It was also very oily, my future MIL wasn't able to finish it because of the amount of oil. I thought that the food was good even though it was missing quite a bit. Another thing, the employees were being very loud in the back. Which would be fine had it not been so quiet in the restaurant. We chose not to bother complaining about anything, as I manage a restaurant and understand how annoying it can be to have to remake dishes for minor mistakes. But either way, it would be nice to have the server or whoever double check that the dishes are correct before sending them out :( read more

Food was horrible a burnt sheet of hash browns, missing parts like pancakes bacon had a difficult time getting a refund even after taking all the food back. They would at first only allow us to have our food remade. Ordered at 630pm ate at 830pm. Found out the cook was on his second day and was left in the kitchen to cook our food and we originally couldn't get a refund due to no manager being there. I came here with my family and we took up half of one of the dining rooms, and they were very good to us and got out food in a timely manner and brought fresh drinks when needed, even though there were like 20 of us. We have been here multiple times, as well as had delivery from here. The experiences going is are always great! Staff is friendly and eager to greet us. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, comfy seating and they have blinds to block the sun if you ask. All the food we have tried is great, except for the french dip. I found it to be a bit lacking with bland meat and too strong of a swiss cheese flavor. Our favorite is going after 9PM but before 6AM to get half priced pie, or all you can eat pancakes. The coffee is also smooth and strong, they leave the pot at the table for you. The bakery is well stocked with fresh made goods, including many different varieties of pie! My only problems have ever arose with delivery. The eggs were not cooked how I requested, the whites of the eggs were still partially raw and gooey. Other than that, it was also very tasty. Won't EVER go to Perkins in Appleton again. We sat at our table for 15 minutes with no one coming over to us for drink order. When I asked the hostess I was told that our waitress was currently helping a large table next to us (who sat down AFTER us) and she would be with us as soon as she can. When I told her that we were seated first and should have been helped first I got no apology, just told that she would be with us as soon as she could. We got up and left. I can not believe this place. Usually when I go here I do not feel well afterwards, but due to the fact it is one of the only places in the area open late I still go there with friends. After the last time I went I would rather starve than go back. The waitress was so rude (when she finally came after 20 minutes of us sitting there). She came back to check on us all of 0 times and than acted like we were best friends at the end so she could get a good tip. She wishes.
