Let me tell you how good these guys are. I travel in a Ford Transit van and I often drive rough forest roads so i needed an all-terrain tire. I'd talked to several tire shops but Performance Tire was the first to recommend a great tire that fit my purpose and my van. Henry said "We handle a fleet of those vans and I know the exact tire you want." So I drove to Santa Fe and found the shop (Siri thinks the shop is further down the street than it is) and Henry greeted me, gave my dog two biscuits and his crew set to work on my van right away. I'd ordered a new set of brake pads and paid for them already because they were a special order. Henry told me that my current pads still had 85% left and refunded my payment. He didn't have to do that, he already had my money and I would have never known the existing pads were still good. But Henry was honest about it. That is exceptional! After they installed new tires, they told me I had 2 bent wheels but never showed me anything. They told me they would give me a discount and replace the four wheels because it's cheaper than replacing two. I told them I'd think about it and went to the Subaru dealership who checked the wheels for free. Subaru said everything was fine. Haven't had an issue with the car since. Looks like there are other comments in here with the same trick. read more

Love this place! Just had a flat that I discovered in the morning - took it in to see if it needed replacing or even replacing all four tires (sometimes you have to do that on AWD vehicles). So I was a little concerned about that. Henry and Ryan took ten minutes, found a 1.25" screw embedded in the tire, patched it with some vulcanizing rubber filler, equalized all tires to 40 psi (which they recommend for winter driving), and sent me on my way - no charge. Recently realized my car was out of alignment and my tires were all wearing weird. Went to bring it in and they have no records of any one's tires and even though remember me won't honor my warranty or anything without the missing receipt. These guys are awesome! I wish I remembered the young man that helped me, but super nice younger guy. We were on one of our annual trips to Santa Fe when I noticed I had a small tear in our front tire. Knowing that we'd be going over a few mountain passes over several hundred miles on the way home, I wanted to be sure this was nothing serious, so I called a few shops. (Not in the tire game myself, I defer to the pros and you should too.) They were the first to answer and nearby, and said to come on by because they wanted to be sure we were safe. (Actual quote, come on by because "we want to be sure everyone's safe.") Score! So, we go by, and he looks at the tire and says it was superficial and we're fine. Goes on to inflate all of our tires and his colleague even replaces a valve cap I'd lost. Assured me they just wanted to us to be safe and declined payment. These guys had me as a visitor on a deadline to return home over the barrel essentially at their mercy, but instead treated us like neighbors with kindness and respect. I'll always remember that. I was recently visiting from out of town. Two days before I needed to make a very long drive back home I had a warning light appear for under inflated tires. I am not handy and am a huge worrier. We damaged a wheel on our new Jaguar while visiting Santa Fe and turned out it needed a new one. First several firms we contacted could not help us or told us a replacement would be 3 to 4 days. At Performance Tire & Wheel Henry was able to arrange an overnight shipment to Albuquerque and had an employee waiting at the airport to take delivery. They really are scammers. In 2012, when I took my 2007 Audi in for tires they stated my disc pads needed replacement and I paid over $1,000 for this service. They showed me "my worn disc pads" afterwards. Then several years later when I needed new tires they told me my wheel was bent and when I mentioned I would take it to the Audi dealer they advised against it. The Audi dealership recommended a tire company in Albuquerque and when I took it there they said everything was fine. I have since been driving this car with no issues. Keep your money and go to a reputable tire dealer. read more
