When I got it back, he told me he didn't know what was wrong with it and that the problem fixed itself when he went on it. Surprise, the problem was still there. I found out myself later that week that all I had to do was clean the dust out of the fans and some other hardware and it worked fine... he also charged me extra fees with adding some thermal paste, an antivirus, and such when I didn't ask him to. I know it's been around 2 years since I have been here and before I just thought it wasn't worth writing a review because I thought "that's just how the industry goes so they can make money" and I wasn't going to screw this company over with my review. Hate the game, not the player I guess. Recently though, my brother went to a different computer repair and they didn't charge him with extra fees and they told him everything he was getting charged for. They also identified the problem pretty fast, which was much more complicated than just dust. I am just writing this review to let people know that there are better places out there. Don't waste your time at this place. Maybe they don't specialize in gaming computers or even had a bad day or something. I didn't have anything very complex to fix, just a laptop that died on me and I needed a diagnosis that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I wanted to erase the hard drive before recycling it because I was pretty sure it was not worth trying to repair it. I'd researched the common problems with my particular model of Acer Aspire (overheating) and wasn't sure if it was worth trying to replace parts (only to not have them work). At first Matthew thought he could salvage the machine but the same problem of overheating kept happening while he was working on it. So he informed me it wasn't worth it, and just got my data, music, photos, and downloads off the hard drive (for which I paid $50). If he were able to repair the machine, he said it would've cost me $160. I trust these guys. Matthew is a genius. Service is so fast and so professional. They also have great deals on refurbs, ie: Mac desktop for $380 (wowza), Sony Vaio for $500, etc.

The first time was to replace a failed hard drive early in the pandemic, which was done fairly quickly and inexpensively. Then, two or three weeks ago, the computer started freezing. The first few times, I could restart it after a few attempts. I went a few days with no freezing, then the problem worsened: It would turn on, but Windows wouldn't load. I was already going to get a new computer anyway, due to Microsoft ending support for Windows 10. (My computer wasn't compatible with Windows 11--or so I was led to believe by the internet.) It's an almost 13-year-old computer at this point. But I figured I may as well see if it can be salvaged, so I can keep it around at least as a backup. To my surprise, Alex was able to not only diagnose the problem (a failed graphics card), but was able to install a newer graphics card that made the computer compatible with Windows 11. So now, I don't have to rush to buy a new computer, and can likely keep this around a lot longer than I previously thought I could. All this for $130. Thank you, Alex!

That's completely unacceptable behavior toward a paying customer. They never mentioned repairs would take 2-3 days. I was clearly told it would be done overnight or the next day, which I have in writing. Once they had my laptop, the story suddenly changed. The communication was chaotic and inconsistent. They also pressured me for my password even after I explained that my computer contains sensitive client banking data, then backtracked and said they didn't need it. For that, they charged almost $300 for a basic cleaning and repaste. Their Google page doesn't even list a proper address, which is concerning for a repair shop. Unprofessional, disorganized, overpriced, disrespectful, and completely lacking in understanding for people with disabilities. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I'd rather trash the laptop than hand it back to Ted -- that says everything about how much I trust his shop.

I brought my old Macbook in, they ran diagnostics on it to see if the hard drive was in good shape. Fortunately it is. We were easily able to transfer the data from the old computer to the new one. She ran an update on it and then couldn't start her phone. Dtown Tech took a look at it, determined that something caused the update to not complete. They completed the update and restarted her phone. It took just a few minutes and they didn't charge me. Those few minutes they gave me could've been spent on a billable project for them.
