I worked in Clearlake for 11 years and knew the owner, Phil and the folks that ran and worked for Performance Mechanical. Several years back I had them install an AC unit at my home in Hidden Valley. The service was great. No complaints. JR Putnam has now taken over the company as Phil moved out of state. Recently they called me saying that as a previous customer, I could have them come out and do yearly inspections on my AC and HVAC system, at a great price and first year free, which I gladly accepted. (Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing) Their local rep came out and said my AC was fine but, at that time showed me some pictures of what he said were problems with my furnace. I'm not an HVAC guy or a plumber so I took his word for it and agreed to get a new unit installed for $11,000 Knowing my current unit was more than 20 years old. He told me it would be a one day install. That day came and they showed up as promised, well after working on it all day I was told at 3 PM they did not have the parts to finish the job and would have to come back the next day. (I'm not sure how the two plumbing trucks at the bottom of my driveway, Did not have the parts to complete a simple install job) The next day came and I was called stating the tech was out sick so no one would be coming and I'd have to wait till Monday for my next appointment.(Apparently no one else in the company can finish a job) I was now without a furnace over the weekend and due to a storm the temperature got down to the low 40s. On Monday no one ever showed up, upon my calling them I was told the part is back ordered we now can't come for over another week. I told them this was unacceptable and called my sales person to complain. Miraculously their unavailable, back ordered, supply chain issue part was found and I was told someone would be there the very next morning to finish the install by both the main office and my salesperson (local rep). The next morning came and went and once again I had to call them to ask what was going on. They told me the tech was out doing other jobs (obviously more important that the guy left waiting for four days now) and would get to me later in the afternoon. I asked multiple times to have a manager call me as I now feel as I'm owed some sort of compensation for days and days worth of inconvenience. The tech showed and completed the job. No call from a manager like I asked for, no follow up call from the local person who started the process, no one cared about their lack of customer service or my lost time waiting for nothing and receiving fake apologies and excuses. What was once a good community local business, Performance Mechanical is now owned by a company, JR Putnam, that does not care and has terrible customer service. Stay away from this business. They are no longer the quality local business they used to be. Goodbye Performance Mechanical. read more

"Performance Mechanical" reached out out to me to offer me services under their new ownership (JR Putnam). They sold me on a "maintenance membership" for $179 and I would get two maintenance services per year for my unit. I have a Daikin mini split unit with three heads. The technician came out today to service my units. He wiped down the exterior of two heads and rinsed the filters from one head and put them back in my unit WET. He did not clean the third head at all. He said it already looked pretty clean. I don't like confrontation so I just said ok, that's my fault. He did go outside and wipe down the condenser and somewhat clean the coils. After work I decided to get on the ladder to get a better look at what he actually did. All of my heads are still filthy on the inside, they are still covered with dust and dirt inside the vents and coils. I thought ok I'll cut my loss and cancel my membership. I called the office and told them my concerns, that I would just like to make sure I was paid up for today's visit but would no longer be using their services. The lady told me I would have to pay $120 for the maintenance of the main head, plus $40 for each additional bringing my total to $200. Since I didnt want their membership anymore, I dont get the discounted rate. Fine but youre not going to charge me for part of a service I did not receive. I explained that the technician did not touch the third head, he did not perform any maintenance on it. She said she would still have to charge me for it. We argued about it for a few minutes and she said she would talk to her manager about it and call me back tomorrow. I told her I just want to pay my bill and be done with them. I told her to charge my card, cancel my membership and I'll just leave a review... so here it is. I would have cut my losses and let this go but they insist on charging me $40 for a unit the technician didn't touch. Not only do I have to clean my own units that I paid to have done, I'm being overcharged and wasting my time writing this to warn future potential clients to hopefully save someone this headache. As a local contractor I've used performance Mechanical Heating and Cooling before on my clients homes but this time around I'd be using them on my personal home. Let's just say my experience was better than I could've hoped for. From meeting Phil at my home to discussing options to scheduling and final install these guys really know their profession. Never felt like I was being sold a system I either didn't need or was being rushed through the process. I'm a picky guy by nature and working on other people's homes is of the utmost importance when it comes to being careful and paying attention to details. Dj and Steven were what I'd expect of my own guys on my jobs , they were careful and clean and the lead installer Dj is extremely knowledgeable and personable. The system was a large system and was installed in an expedited manner without any corners cut and worked with me on placement and fit and finish. Cory was the technician who came out to help with my monitor heater in my home, and he helped me with any questions i had and beyond. Not only was he extremely clean and thorough,(he left my home cleaner than when he arrived) but he also took the time to explain everything I needed to know to use my equipment. I have never had this unit before and when he left, I was more than confident in using it (unlike before). I was so was so happy with his work, I referred my neighbor to them as well and they were fortunate enough to get Cory's helping had too! We are both so grateful, we will be both calling this month to have you guys come back out to service our swap coolers before the warm weather surprises us ! Our heat went out. After another company was supposed to come and wasn't going to make it when we were told they would call. JESSE from Performance Mechanical was here with in 30 mins of the call. He was very professional and knowledgeable and explained what the problem was and other issues he noticed. He explained and educated me on what was going on and even called in to the property management company and explained it to them and even went as far as to get photos to provided the documentation and explained it could possibly be under warranty. The part was in in less then 24 hours after it had been ordered and installed shortly after that. I can't thank Jesse and the performance mechanical team for the outstanding and prompt work to keep our family warm this fall and winter which is coming. great company, they came to my house 2 times to explain the best plan for my home once with my wife once with me. when i pulled the trigger and went for it (4 head system) they were here a week later installing. i have an older home and they went above and beyond climbing and fishing through the walls and attic spaces to accommodate my requests. the system is amazing and they beat all the others i called prices. they stayed after to make sure we knew how to operate and set remotes and even checked in on us week later to make sure all was satisfactory .. great customer service, great price and amazing warranty. It was a fortunate decision to go with Performance Mechanical. My HVAC died and PM's price and their amazing 10 year warranty convinced me to go with the Amana Package HVAC. Unfortunately, the new Amana died in two weeks. And it was getting hotter. At this point Performance Mechanical went to work immediately and they were able to get a brand new unit shipped from Tx and delivered to us within one week. We called Performance Mechanical (TJ & Ryan) to service our Central Air conditioner to clean out our vents. They did an excellent job and were fast & efficient!!
