there's something to be said for longevity - this place has been around for a couple of decades, has transitioned from focusing on high end audio to home theater & audio, and most importantly the staff remains constant. barry, cary, al, chad et al have been there for years and while they may not know your name, they recognize your face. i only make purchases there around every 5 years but it's nice to go into a place where they remember what they sold you and your audio preferences. you don't get that from the unknowledgeable part-time employees at the big box retailers like best buy. while the guys at performance audio need to make a living and sell things like any other retailer, they're also willing to give you advice knowing you aren't there to purchase this time - it's about developing the longt-erm relationship with the customer. case in point: i needed advice on converting the cables on some equipment given to me (they rep the equipment) and they knew it was at most a $30 sale, but they spent 20 minutes discussing the options with me - turns out i didn't need to purchase anything. will i go back... most certainly! read more
