Great well organized company. My family and I used them on Tuesday of this week, and we live with in a mile of each other. At my parents they trimmed back a magnolia tree and at my house, it was a little more detailed, and they removed branches from 3 trees, two in my backyard, one in my front. Perfect Cut was great. We had 2 dead trees in our yard that needed to be removed. One had already fallen and was leaning on some other trees in our yard in a way that my husband and I couldn't safely remove it. The other was standing, but in dire need to be cut down. John came out quickly assessed and gave us a quote. We accepted and he scheduled us for the following week. His crew was efficient and cleaned up well before they left. TL;DR: I now recommend Perfect Cut to friends and neighbors every chance I get. If you're looking for a quote for tree service, definitely call Perfect Cut. In July 2023, Perfect Cut removed a giant black walnut tree that was breaking up the foundation under our shed with its roots and they removed a dead green giant arborvitae nearby. They also ground the stumps of both trees and their team was very receptive to my requests to keep as much of the wood from the black walnut as possible. Where Perfect Cut stood out was in their competitive pricing and in the thoroughness of their contract details (we actually broke a contract with another tree service because they verbally told us we could keep the wood but when I followed up, they were taking the wood and wanted to charge us a lot more to keep it). What will keep me coming back to Perfect Cut their follow through. I noticed several weeks after the original job was completed that one of the stumps was not ground (we'd gone on vacation and weren't in that back part of the yard for a while). When I called them, they had someone come out and check the stump, and they agreed to send their stump grinder crew back to the house to finish the job. They could have easily argued about the job being complete since I signed off the day of the original work, and they could've tried to charge us extra, but they kept to their original word and finished the job. Beyond disappointed. They arrived before 11 AM when scheduled for 3 PM, had to rearrange my day to stay on-site while the work was done. They started with cutting down a live unmarked tree (only dead trees were to come down & I had orange spray paint on them.) I was standing in the yard for the half hour it took to set up the equipment in case there were any questions--when I heard the chainsaw start I walked around the truck to see the chainsaw sunk into the trunk of our favorite flowering tree--covered in seed pods from the recent flowering. Accidents happen, and while we were upset about the tree, how they handled it was the real issue. The foreman immediately chipped the tree----he didn't call the office and ask management to come handle the problem--only I did. Perfect Cut strung me along for months saying they filed an insurance claim for our tree but they never did and continually dodged our calls, wouldn't tell me who the insurer was when I asked--in case the insurer had been waiting for my reply when I hadn't heard from them after months. The damage was done in November, took until March to finally find the info to put in the insurance claim myself. Only after contacting Rockland County's Consumer Protection office did I find out who the insurer was, and when I contacted the insurer, they had no claim for our tree yet. I started the claim and Perfect Cut eventually admitted they cut the wrong tree and we were reimbursed for damages--but not without tons of stress and many months of hassle. I have always felt that, if a company gives exemplary service, one should write a review. Such is the case here. We had an ailing maple tree in our front yard. Neighbors across the street had a couple of huge oak trees hanging over their house that had to come down before they did so on their own. We watched Perfect Cut work methodically and carefully. So we got a reference to them from our neighbor. I called the company and got the nicest lady on the phone. She was friendly, articulate, and helpful, and she scheduled an estimate to be done by John, the owner of the company a couple of days later. John turned out to be an affable, smart, knowledgeable and helpful guy. His comment was, "Piece of cake." I said to him, "Well, let me complicate it. I'm a woodturner, and would like to keep the wood cut into lengths useful for me to turn bowls out of them. And I would like to keep the crotches intact for turning and preserve the limbs for firewood." John told me that was no problem and to just tell the crew what I wanted when they showed up. He then gave me a price that was well below what we had been anticipating! Since my job was not an emergency, he scheduled the work for early the following week. Five guys came, and I explained what I wanted. They were immediately agreeable, and one of them climbed the tree and proceeded to cut. Did I mention that electric and telephone lines ran among the branches? They carefully and gently pulled them back when a piece around them needed to be dropped. After all was on the ground, they cut sections as I had requested. I was expecting to have to cart the sections around to the back of my house where I could process them into bowl blanks. Some were very heavy, so I was a little concerned about how this 76 year old guy would accomplish that. To my surprise, they just picked the pieces up onto their shoulders and carried them back. Amazing! They ran the smaller pieces through the chipper, blew and raked up the sawdust and chips, and left the yard in beautiful condition. I had set aside money for a tip but, seeing what they had done above and beyond, I doubled the amount. They then left. About 8 o'clock at night, the phone rang. It was the same nice lady from the office calling to check whether I was happy with the job. All-in-all, I couldn't imagine a better experience. Any tree work we need in the future will go to Perfect Cut. I'm sure you would be really happy with them, too. Recommended, completely without reservation. read more

Pro's: John was nice enough on the initial estimate and I felt the quote was fair. When they do work, they are fairly efficient/ Neutral: Unfortunately, due to the storms they became overbooked rather quickly and I had to wait essentially 3 months for an appointment. Most of the crew did arrive on time on the scheduled day. I can't fault them for that. Cons: They did not communicate that all of the work would not be completed on the booked day. In particular removal of a fallen tree/root and stump grinding of other previously fallen trees. They have not delivered on just about half of the work order and refuse to give me a straight answer on when it can be done. When asked about this their basic response was "We do not schedule those services and it depends on when the crew is in the area." Well, this was never communicated and my invoice and scheduled appointment date implies otherwise. I've made 4 different calls at this point to get some kind of idea as to when they might show up and the last 2 times they've implied they need to talk to the owners about how to handle this? I don't understand what there is to handle, I booked a service, scheduled a date, and they failed to fully deliver. Your problems aren't my problems. If you can't deliver, you shouldn't be charging me for it. Credit card dispute filed. We'll see how responsive you get now. read more

Never ever trust to this company. They scheduled and rescheduled the work 4 or more times during one year and they could not do the work finally. When represent of the company ( named Tony ) checked the work he said that no need to use crane to remove dangerous branch, and he told that he will do it asap, because he saw that kids were playing around, but later he disappeared . I called 100 times , VERY UNRESPONSIVE COMPANY. i have never met soo bad service in my life . Today i have got call from them and they said that they can do it winter time , anyone can imagine the situation? I was waiting one year and I was suggested to wait one more year. I can't express how disappointed I am with Perfect Cut. I had hired them about a month ago to cut up and cart away a fallen tree at my house and didn't have any issues with them then. I met with John who was nice enough and very personable. That said, around 1-1/2 months ago, I scheduled another appointment with Perfect Cut for today 7/28 ( soonest day/time I could get) to trim a tree at my Mom's house which had a large branch break off and fall into her neighbor's yard. At the time I made the appointment, I explained that my Mom has Dementia with short term memory loss and, therefore, won't remember the appointment, so please have them call me before they arrive. On the day of the appointment (today), I called their office multiple times (speaking to someone each time) just to make sure they call me before they arrive. Since I never heard from anyone, I called them one last time, and they contacted the workers and confirmed they would be there in the next 1/2 hour or so. As I was getting ready to drive over there (10 min drive), I got a call from my Mom who said someone knocked on her door and was there to trim the tree, but predictably (and not her fault), she told them she was unaware of any appointment. When she handed the phone to the worker, he said he already rescheduled with another customer and could no longer do the job. When I told him I was considering posting a bad review, he said I couldn't post it because they didn't do any of the work. Strange response. When I asked the worker to provide me with his name, he refused and handed the phone back to my Mom. I really can't speak to the quality of their work, but it's very disappointing when I feel like I've done everything possible as a customer to provide them with simple instructions to follow and they either ignored me or simply didn't take the time to listen or care about what I was telling them. I've seen a few other reviews complaining about their customer service. I can only hope that the company uses this as another example to learn from their mistakes and work on improving their customer service skills before they lose more customers. For me, I'll be looking for another contractor to do the job. Overall, a very bad experience. read more

I spent 18 months trying to get a tree service to prune the trees on our property in Teaneck, NJ. There have been so many storms the past couple of years and these companies are understandably busy, but it was still quite frustrating. Anyway...in August 2021 a neighbor told me about Perfect Cut tree service. They came, saw, and conquered in a timely manner and in all the right ways: 1) Answered the phone right away (a real person!) 2) Made an appt on the spot for someone to come and check out the trees the following week 3) Gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work 4) Were very honest about their busy workload and said they could get us on the schedule for October 7 between 8 and 9 AM 5) Showed up on October 7 at 8:30 AM with a crew of four and did the work in about 2 hours. They pruned three large feature trees and four smaller ornamental trees. We live on a tiny cul-de-sac so they ditched the cherry picker and did all the work by hand....climbing the large trees and pruning the branches (they did manage to squeeze the woodchipper in our driveway, though). Done in two hours (maybe less) and cleaned up the yard, raking away every last bit of pruning debris. Their workers were very nice...they walked the property with me and the proposal in hand to confirm the scope of work...and also came to get me to do a walk-through when they were done to make sure I thought everything looked good before they wrapped up. They are definitely in my address book for good...they will be our first call for future pruning and tree work. read more

Like Donna W. who wrote earlier this week, I am very disappointed...Based on reviews and my August 21 meeting with John, that week I booked a date for a bucket crew for ASAP, Saturday, October 12. John promised to send someone who was a pruning expert: I am a long-time gardener and I was looking forward to having many OLD trees and plantings at our historic property thinned, trimmed, and removed. Today, Friday October 11, I decided to call to confirm tomorrow's appointment. After a brief time on hold, I was told that no one was coming, and no one could do the work until November 18, over a month from when it had been scheduled. If I hadn't called, would PC have contacted me? I very much doubt it. I told the woman I was speaking with that I was very unhappy, and that while I did not want to press her for something she couldn't change, I wanted to speak directly with John. She would not put me through to him or any other person, saying that even if I were to cry, curse, yell or threaten (none of which I'd waste my time or energy doing!!), it would make no difference. Beware! Worst customer service ever. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! Back in September we accepted an estimate from Perfect Cut Tree Service. We didn't know they are not intending to honor it. Perfect Cut Tree Service scheduled the job to Monday November 23rd. On Friday the 20th around 5:00PM they left a message to inform that they need to reschedule but to this date never provided a new date. Following week I called them, and they suggested to reschedule to February 2021 (which is more than 4 months after I accepted their quote)! On top of that they couldn't guarantee the will be done on the new date. I explained that it's a safety issue and I already rejected other vendors. They were very proud to tell me that some people are still waiting from August. WOW! I asked to speak to the owner. They assured me one of them would contact me. At this point I had no expectations. 3 weeks after and no sign. Do yourself a favor and choose a service provider that actually respects it's customers and honors its commitments. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else. Literally 30 unreturned phone calls over a 2 week period after written estimate provided to my wife by John in person. Finally a call back stating and I quote "the cost will be DRASTICALLY" higher than their written estimate - Tony. Speaking to Tony, also made clear that the job could not be started for "at least a MONTH". This business does not stand by their written estimates, does not return phone calls, classic BAIT AND SWITCH. Did not even have the decency to let us know perhaps after 10 unreturned phone calls that they did not want the job. Will report them to the BBB. My brother recommended them after they did his trees in Hillsdale. Owner came out and gave me the estimate which was fair. Workers were great and did an excellent job cleaning up when done and used the blower and rakes. I was impressed. Would absolutely recommend them again to anyone. Also did the job very quickly (I was not in a rush). Originally scheduled about 2 weeks out and they called and said could do it today. This companies customer service is horrible i called to confirm my appointment at 12:30 for 1-3 and was told that she couldn't tell me when to expect him but closer to 3 it's 4:35 called to ask where he was and a different woman answered saying I was in schedule for 5-7 and I said call him and ask him to contact me today she said no right away I said ask to come as close to this time as possible she said no again I've been waiting all day for this appointment that I was told wasn't even in the system then told me I was being nasty and rude and said she can't deal with this and told me she canceled the appointment and i Asked is she the owner and she said yes and that she is the nasty one and her customer service is horrible and she got more nasty and said again "I won't deal with this lady" and said "we will not be coming don't even bother calling back we won't answer" and hung up read more

They are not professionals. If they were, they would know that they needed to have a permit to cut any trees in a specific Rockland County neighborhood, with a removal limit of so many trees per square feet of lot size, as in town laws. They were cutting WITHOUT a permit, so the police had to be called to shut it down. The homeowner should have known this, but even more so... a licensed company working in this county absolutely should know and get a permit! read more

Perfect Cut Tree Service was recommended to me by my well wishers in Nanuet, NY. The P.C. Tree Service responded to my request for inspection and an estimate but I had to wait for about a week. John visited my property and gave me his frank assessment. I found John to be polite and courteous, his recommendations to be practical and estimate reasonable. I had to contact their office more than once to receive confirmation on the appointment. Understand that their services are in great demand considering the reasonable charges & quality of service. Christina and Nicole of their office were courteous and respectful on the phone which game a very good impression of the organization. Well what can I say? Never Again is a good one. From the appointment phone call to the visitor who came to my door. Nothing but attitude. They act as if there doing a customer a favor than a service. In the middle of this Caronavirus issued, I called March 11th to have some major work done. I needed someone to just come over and give me an estimate. The appointment call was horrible. The attitude begins from there, I asked is it possible someone can stop by Saturday. Immediately I get a NO! I was super suprized because there is so much competition in Rockland County. The appointment I agreed to was the 17th of March 2020. I made several calls to competitors and to my delight they were available and the Job was done. 5 large trees and cleanup done in one day that very weekend. The Caronavirus has really turned my work life upside down I forget to cancel the appointment. Needless to say when I finally get to speak to them on the phone to my surprise I get another attitude when I canceled. She wasn't concerned to reschedule or anything as if they were coming out to do me a favor. Now for the Jerk that came over apparently he never got the call I canceled and showed up anyway. I explained the miscommunication and to my surprise another attitude. At this point I had enough voiced my opinion. I didnt go well and a screaming match at my front door started. If you want to pay for an attitude you will get your money's worth. They really need to get off the high horse and come down to realty. Do not recomend based on have no class at all. read more

Very disappointed in this company. We were given an estimate in writing and said they'd call with a schedule. Then the owner stopped by and said that was a very low price and he'd get back to us about scheduling. No one called us back after a week so we called them. Spoke to Maryann ( sister of the owner ) who apologized as we got lost in the shuffle and should have be contacted about the date. Promised a call back after speaking to John ( the brother/ owner ). No call back after a week. This went on for over a month. I called twice a week and got Apologies and promises for a call back and nothing! We were given a run around we never experienced by anyone before. It was obvious they wanted more money than the original ( on paper ) estimate. We called another service named "Timberline" tree service and they estimated and came a week later. They did an awesome job AND IT COST 20% less than Perfect cut's original estimate. So I decided against my better judgment to try this service again . John came by and gave me an estimate on an oak tree they needed to be trimmed . Nicole came back and scheduled a day to have my oak tree trimmed . She called to confirm the day before the appointment . I was off from work on the day Of the scheduled trimming . On the day of the Cutting it was raining and they called me to say they will not be coming due to the rain . They rescheduled me three weeks later . I asked Nicole if I had to be home when they showed up for the cutting and she replied no. Nicole calls the day before to confirm the appointment and says the workers will be there between 12 and 2 pm. They show up and the front office calls me to say the workers are there . I gave them permission to cut as I was at work at the time . Nicole calls back and says I had to be present for the cutting . She told me previously that I didn't have to be present . She tells me the workers will not cut the tree as I had to be present . She then says the workers will "swing by " after 3:30 to do the job when I could actually make it home to watch them . Guess what ? They don't show up and they don't call back to reschedule an appointment. Very poor communication and I would not recommend this company to anyone . read more

Not recommended. Poor customer service. Received estimate on April 3 to remove two large trees from front of property. I accepted the quote and was told to be patient we are behind schedules due to poor weather, but promised to get the job done before Memorial Day. I called in mid-May after never hearing back from them and was told they had a cancellation for June 7 which I agreed to. They called on June 6 saying they would not be able to come June 7 and would get back to me with another date. A week later they called offering July 29, nearly 4 months after receiving the quote. Whatever happened to customer service? This company has made me feel totally disrespected. They did good work for me 8 years ago, but something has happened with Perfect Cut, and to there detriment. This was a very bad experience for me. Jeremy came and did a inspection was going to give me a bid a written bid that evening. We discussed his verbal bid and I explained it was higher than the other tree trimmer I received. He offered to beat the other bid by $200. I said send me a written bid. I called the next day no bid and no return call. Then next day I reached him, he assured me the bid was sent would check in the office in the am. I have tried to reach him many times and no response. Not professional unresponsive and not someone I could recommend to anyone totally unreliable. read more

tree cut services- very unprofessional and staff to book appointments including manager was extremely nasty!! when they cut my trees I had to call for follow up, which they did not come for the scheduled day and then they left the remaing tree and stump for 2 week.. which I had to call and ask when they were picking up and they didn't have me scheduled but I paid for that. they came a month after that call. horrible horrible service!! and the so called manager, Jerryin.. or how ever you spell it.. was so nasty!!! do not go with these people!!! it is a nightmare!!! read more
