Beyond disappointed.  They arrived before 11 AM when scheduled for 3 PM, had to rearrange my day to stay on-site while the work was done.   They started with cutting down a live unmarked tree (only dead trees were to come down & I had orange  spray paint on them.) I was standing in the yard for the half hour it took to set up the equipment in case there were any questions--when I heard the chainsaw start I walked around the truck to see the chainsaw sunk into the trunk of our favorite flowering tree--covered in seed pods from the recent flowering. Accidents happen, and while we were upset about the tree, how they handled it was the real issue. The foreman immediately chipped the tree----he didn't call the office and ask management to come handle the problem--only I did. Perfect Cut strung me along for months saying they filed an insurance claim for our tree but they never did and continually dodged our calls, wouldn't tell me who the insurer was when I asked--in case the insurer had been waiting for my reply when I hadn't heard from them after months. The damage was done in November, took until March to finally find the info to put in the insurance claim myself. Only after contacting Rockland County's  Consumer Protection office did I find out who the insurer was, and when I contacted the insurer, they had no claim for our tree yet.  I started the claim and Perfect Cut eventually admitted they cut the wrong tree and we were reimbursed for damages--but not without tons of stress and many months of hassle.  But they sure did cash my check for the job.   (Photo of the healthy tree in bloom the summer before it was chopped down.) read more

Don't waste your time. Booked an appointment 8/7/24 for 10/24/24 to have 2 trees taken down plus trimming of about 4-5 other trees. I was told no permit was needed unless it was more than 2 trees being removed. 10/23/24 I get a confirmation call and I was asked if I got a permit. I said per our discussion in August no permit was necessary. The unpleasant person on the phone said well as of 9/1/24 the town requires it. If that's the case whey wouldn't they call me well ahead of time so I can secure the necessary permit not the day before?? I said that's fine forget the 2 trees there's still plenty of work to be done and she said oh no I can't split the work. You just cost your business over $1,500. We've been loyal customers year after year but that just changed. read more

We had a lot of dying / dead small trees and brush in our backyard, it was a significant amount of work. We needed to clear it out and level it so that we could utilize it for our kids' playground / install a new fence. John, the owner, came to our home to assess the property and give an estimate. He seemed to really know what he was doing and cared about his company -- we had priced out with other smaller outfits, and although more expensive, Perfect Cut felt the most promising and capable of handling the scope. John suggested instead of grinding the stumps, to pull the roots out altogether, for an even leveling job. I had questioned this method, as excavators have a tendency to uneven the yard where it rolls. He offered to provide soil / sod to level the yard and make it "ready for use" free of cost should we choose to go with him. He also "recommended" a fence company that he often worked with, instead of the company we had already selected. Unfortunately, that was the last time I spoke to John. I called his office shortly after to schedule the tree service. They scheduled for a week or two out and came in to cut all the trees. They cleared away most of the work. Then they never came back to finish the rest of the job (removing the stumps, as per contract). I called every day for weeks (seriously) to come in so we could be home when the work was taking place. John's office was incredibly terse and off putting from Day 1. They'd promise to speak to him, or they'd offer a "call back," none of which actually led to anything happening. After 2 months of this, I finally gained traction. They scheduled the excavator to come and pull out the roots of the trees the following week. And of course, no one showed. Then I called again, and again. Finally, another week later, they show up with the excavator, and left it to sink into our front yard for a few days before the workers showed up. The soil / sod work was initially forgotten about by their team, but my husband reminded them, and they brought it as they finished up work. The excavator, as I had initially suspected, left the yard uneven. The sod was cheap, and resulted in mostly weeds. My husband eventually had to buy quality seed, pull out all the weeds and clearing the brush that Perfect Cut did not (causing him to breakout in a rash), and re-do the yard work anyway. Needless to say, our yard is a mess after this, we still have to level and hope that the weeds disappear with the assistance of TrueGreen. One of the trees they recommended "half cutting" is now dying, with no way for us to reach the tall branches that are hanging off of the trunk. Thousands of dollars down the drain and we're still cleaning up their mess 2 months later. Do yourself a huge favor and just hire someone, ANYONE, else. read more

Never use this service!! Stay away!! I called back in October to have a tree cut down, they sent the owner out and we scheduled for January. I was not happy with waiting 3 months as we just had our roof repaired, which I told them. A day before our scheduled date in January, I receive a call saying the crew would be there between 10 and noon. The crew arrives only to say they can't do the job, they don't have the right equipment! The owner was the one to write the estimate - does he not know what he's doing?!?!?! After a very rude receptionist tells me she will talk to her manager, I find out to do the job with proper equipment, it will be several more weeks!!!!!! I already waited 3 months!!! This company was hired by my neighbor. They decided to use my yard as their dumping ground. They even removed my mailbox without even so much as knock on my door. When I asked the workers to remove the trees off of my property they told me they had no room! The manager came and said he would have it cleaned up within an hour. Didn't happen. I had to leave my house and when I came back the workers decided it was appropriate to yell and make gestures at me while I drove up my driveway. Had an appointment with these guys for over 6 months to cut several trees down today. They called to confirm the appointment several times yesterday, another time earlier this week stating they would be here between 8 and 9. This morning, I receive a call stating that "the guys are not showing up for work today" because it's raining. They can't tell me when they will come back since their calendar is booked up and yeah, sorry but that's how it goes sometimes. Not once did anyone mention anything about the weather. I paid Perfect Cut in the fall for the install and take down of the Christmas lights. Today it is May 25th and our CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ARE STILL UP!!! I paid up front for Christmas lights up and down. I asked him to send me an estimate so we could get on the calendar, since I knew his company was booked heavily with work. A week later, he hadn't sent the estimate, so I called the office. There is nothing else to say but very professional this entire process of removing a 85 foot , 200 plus year old oak tree from my house. Everything from the owner John coming to my house and agreeing that this oak tree which had a crack going down the middle needed to be cut down immediately and him calling me back the next day to scheduling the appointment for that Thursday( 2 days after he came to my property) he knew the immediacy that this matter and it needed to be done ASAP . When the workers arrived everything they did was extremely professional. I would not use these guys. Horrible service. First supposed to come between 11-2 and they show up at 5:30. I had called several times and finally I got hold of someone. He mentioned the crew was on a big job and they got delayed. I told him I was waiting for them all day and noone even called to mention anything. I told him it's too late (after 4pm) so please cancel and reschedule. Which he agreed. A hour and half later the guys come to the house and said they were going to trim / remove the trees. I let them work but when I got home I found out that they didnt trim around the trees on my neighbor's side and didnt clean up fully. They mentioned they would have to come back to grind the stumps which they did 3 weeks later. The bill was 750 I told the woman in the office I would only pay 650 because of the above mentioned problems. She went off on me, calling me every name in the book...real ghetto behavior. It showed me completely how perfect cut operates ...one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing and just real poor business practices. I would recommend using someone else. read more

HORRIBLE! You can not trust these guys. The crew chief did not listen to the directions of our landscaper and my wife and the cutter did a terrible job in trimming our magnolia tree. As a result, a formerly gorgeous tree looks butchered. Truly, they ruined a beautiful climbing tree that our kids enjoyed for years. It will never recover its former glory. If you love trees and blossoms, you can imagine the pain this has caused us. I would never, ever recommend this company to touch a leaf on anybody's property. Perfect Cut removed two huge trees beside our house in Nanuet. Both trees were dead and at significant risk of falling in high winds, and due to their location, required the assistance of a large crane. They arrived at the promised time and provided a reasonable and fair quote. Their crew then arrived at the promised time and worked quickly, professionally and safely to remove both trees. They also trimmed branches on a couple of other trees that were in danger of breaking. They cleaned up after they were done and removed any branches and sawdust. This was the second time we have used them and we would highly recommend them.
