I'm a licensed architect and have been specifying and ordering appliances for over 30 years. My…read moreexperience with House of Appliances has been the worst I've had in my entire career. I did everything possible to avoid issues -- I confirmed timelines with my salesperson, Drew, to avoid a price increase and followed up with a call. Despite that, my quote increased. After some back and forth, they did honor the original price -- but the problems didn't stop there. Drew failed to place the order, even though I had submitted it and paid in full. That delay caused major availability issues, forcing me to purchase a more expensive microwave just to stay on schedule. When I needed to change one appliance, it took weeks just to get an updated proposal. I shared my install deadline well in advance, because I had out-of-town carpenters coming specifically to install the appliance panels. House of Appliances never got back to me in time, and I missed the window. Now I have to pay extra to get the panels installed later. To make matters worse, the refrigerator drawers and wine refrigerator arrived damaged. I was told they could be repaired -- but I paid full price, and I will not accept repaired appliances. These units are required for my Certificate of Occupancy and panel installation, and I still have no resolution. I even contacted a manager and have yet to receive any help. This kind of service is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, when we explained the purpose of our visit, the salesperson, Drew Meltz, informed us that we could not purchase appliances in Florida and have them shipped to Vermont. Right. We asked if we could still browse their showroom. Drew immediately welcomed us and then proceeded to spend nearly an hour going over all the appliances we were looking for: ovens, dishwasher, refrigerator, etc. All the while knowing there would be no eventual sale. Drew Meltz is the best appliance salesperson we have ever met, hands down. He is supremely knowledgeable about his products, patient, cordial and a real pleasure to work with. And their store, is superior to any of the many other stores we have been visiting. Five enthusiastic stars for Drew and the House of Appliances. Steve and Evelene Lakis

I have a Eureka canister vacuum cleaner. It's one of the old style that still takes bags. When I…read moreran out of bags I looked at all the likely places to find refills. I went to Walmart, Kmart, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, and more. Nobody had the right size. I have another newer vacuum cleaner but the Eureka is lighter and does s great job on crevices and furniture. I looked up vacuum cleaner shops. Most weren't close. Then I saw Charlie Vacs. A small shop, not far from home. I called and the person who answered the phone said to bring in the old bag and he would try to match it. I went there with the old bag and I left the shop with new bags. The price was very reasonable. Recently my upright wasn't working right. I took the whole vacuum to Charlie Vacs. The proprietor checked my vacuum cleaner and found that the problem was the belt was broken. He put in a new belt and a few minutes later I had a working upright vacuum cleaner. I paid for the belt but he didn't charge me for checking the vacuum or putting on the new bag. The people working there are very nice and go out ot their way to be helpful. I highly recommend them.

He removed the switch by taking two small screws out and the switch came right out. He got it running temporarily and finished vacuuming. The switch just moved back and forth without clicking on or off. So I took my vacuum to Charlie Vacs. I came in the front door and a man came out from the back. He said: "How can I help you?" I said:"I think I need a new switch." The man moved the switch back and forth and said:"I can fix it for 23 dollars." I said: "I'll have to ask my wife if she wants to spend that much." He said:"It costs that because I'll have to take the vacuum completely apart from top to bottom. It's mostly labor." I said: " A man that does some work for me took the switch out in one minute. There are just two small screws that hold it in." He said: "Well then, why don't you have him fix it for you?" I said: "Well, can you sell me the switch?" The man went in the back and returned with a small on/off switch. He said: " That'll be $10.70 with tax." I paid in cash, took the switch and left. He said "Thank you, my friend" as I was leaving. I returned home, gave the switch to my friend, Eric and he had the vacuum running perfectly in five minutes.
