What happened to this once great company? When I first moved down to Florida, I used Island Air for all of my AC needs. I replaced a system and had quite a few service calls at all the homes I resided in. Always a great experience. The techs were professional and knowledgeable and the office staff was always quick about scheduling. Now? They're never available. I wanted to sign up for an annual maintenance plan and they told me they're booking out to November. It's August. Service calls? Techs are never available in a reasonable time frame and their advertised 24/7 on call service doesn't actually exist. My AC was out on a Friday not too long ago and I was told I couldn't get service until the following Monday. 2.5 days in a sauna, yeah OK boys, I think I'll pass! Anyway, as they literally are unable to provide me with any of the services I've recently needed, I have to update my review and move forward with some other great companies I've found. These guys use to be okay but service and quality of work has gone downhill. I paid them do their semi-annual service on 4 of my AC units (still under warranty) four months ago. Today I had to pay another place $367 to clear a clogged drain line on 1 of the 4 they supposedly did. when I called Island Air they said it's not their fault and suggested I pay them do a quarterly service instead on semi-annual . . . The repair tech today said it clearly hasn't been cleaned in quite a while. So, if you love paying service fees without having them do actual work, this is your place. read more

Nice company to do business with. O recently purchased a maintenance contract from them for my condo AC. They were very professional over the phone. I set up the contract for cleaning 2x's a year and then made my appointment for service. The technician showed up on time and in uniform. He was professional and did a good job quite quickly. I hope I never need an emergency call but if I did, I have confidence they would do a good job then too. read more

Unfortunately, we have had the Worst Customer Service Ever! We contracted with this company to install an a/c unit for us. They installed the equipment in the wrong place outside, then they had to move it. The unit only worked for a few months, then they had to fix a leak, and refill the system. Now it doesn't work again, and they refuse to honor their work or equipment. NEVER EVER USE THESE PEOPLE. We now have to find "someone else" (per the office staff) and be out of pocket on a product that they installed. Worst Customer Service Ever! read more

When we replaced the a/c unit in 2017, they installed a pump and ran the condensate line up thru the attic and outside. Since then we replaced the pump twice and the condensate line once. The line got clogged again and they recommended replacing it with the same 3/8 inch copper pipe. When I asked why the pump and line needed to be replaced so often, Island said if we signed up for a maintenance plan for $400 a year, they would clean the line every 6 months. We called AR Williams whose technician commented that 3/8 was too narrow and would burn out the pump and the line should be at least 4/8 inch. He commented that when houses are built, they usually run a PVC pipe through the foundation. We asked whether we could run a PVC pipe and he replied yes, either along the wall or inside the wall to the outside. We opted for inside the wall. It is wrapped in a rubber casing. We did have to hire someone else to patch the drywall. Now we don't need the pump. read more

I paid $99 or whatever it was to send out a tech because my air wasn't cold. The tech tells me it'll cost about $1800 or so to get it cooler and that if I want the whole unit replaced it would be about $4400. He says the home office will send a quote for the whole unit. I get a text from the office saying it'll be $8800!!! They seem reliable but way overpriced!!! I called another company and replace my A/C for thousands less wirh a reputable national brand!!! Not a good feeling dealing with Island Air. I felt like they were trying to take advantage of me. read more

We are very fastidious and I have to say that the entire sales and installation process went perfectly. Steve, Nicole and the office staff were very professional and kept us informed on all elements of the purchase and installation process, including town permitting. If I could give Island Air Conditioning less than one star I would. The images speak for themselves. They over charged for project, didn't do the project on the time line they promised, left the work area a mess when they finished. They re installed the rusted old bolts from the twenty year old cooling system they removed to install the new $7,000.00 Pluss system, and didn't even put in a new return air filter in the new unit. Total garbage, unprofessional work. They should be ashamed taking advantage of senior citizens who don't know any better. Stay away from Island Air Conditioning in Delray Beach. I'm a 66-year-old man. I know nothing about air conditioning. Mario Bentivenga a senior technician with this company. This is an incredible human being. He came out and diagnosed a problem that four other people I ask for estimates did not even notice. Went out of his way to show us the problem. Explained it to us in layman terms. I have never been so impressed with the kindness and generosity this company has shown. I'm a skeptic not anymore people. If you're reading this review looking for an air conditioning company do not hesitate. Makes a phone call you will not be sorry. Not only is their service go beyond and above. We recently moved to Florida and this is our first experience with central air conditioning. It's memorial day weekend and our air conditioner was not cooling. We called Island air conditioning because the sticker was on our unit, Larry came out to our home a few hours later. We now understand that we need to clean and flush out our system. After spending over $5000 to install a new AC unit and Air Handler, I had to have Island Air come back out multiple times for failing parts (cheap capacitors) and faulty duct installation. Each time they fought me over the service fee, which I should not have to pay for poor quality products and service. Our AC won't cool our house below 77 degrees until after 9pm - and according to Island Air - that's not their fault. Somehow companies like this pass the buck to the homeowner as if we did something to make their work fail...they told me to call another company, so I did. read more

I purchased a home with a contract in already in place. There was mold all around the unit that they were supposedly cleaning and maintaining for years. Thank goodness I had a good contractor on site who noticed the problem. Island Air apparently sells you on a service contract but do not perform the work as promised. The contract states they clean and maintain the unit...clearly it was not being done. Mistakes can happen. Sometimes staff do not follow thru and to what they should. But when brought to managements attention, they initially denied the problem and then presented with pictures and evaluations from industry professionals, the management took an aggressive and bully type stance. My AC 'crashed' (AC heaven) just before the Hurricane Dorian and these "miracle workers" were able to get me up and running with partial install of new system pre-hurricane & completion just after. As a customer for over 12 years, I've always had prompt courteous service from whomever answers the phone to every technician along the way (every 6 month tune-up!) ... I've been using them now for over 4 years at my place of business and when I purchased my townhouse last year, we used them to replace our old Ac unit sign a brand new unit. Install was quick, easy and price point was very fair. They are not overpriced and extremely reliable. They've always hustled to make appointments happen In emergency situations and if you've ever been without Ac, you know that's an emergency I'm south Florida. These people suck. They made an appointment for a certain time that they gave us. Never showed up or called. Couldn't reach them. They finally called way after appointment and said other business work they had were a priority over the job they already scheduled with us. Women on the phone was trying to lecture us on how AC/ heaters work. They should attend a class on customer service and keeping appointments. I wouldn't trust them for anything. Glen and Ron came to our home on 8/5/2020 to install a brand new Carrier AC. They arrived on time and were extremely courteous and efficient. We had been having a couple of issues with the performance of our old AC and called Island Air to come out and take a look at the indoor and outdoor unit. Unfortunately we were told we would need to replace the outside unit due to multiple leaks and the inside handler would need the coils replaced so we decided to just bite the bullet and replace everything. After getting a couple of estimates we had Island Air replace our complete AC with a new Carrier AC. Not only did they give us an amazing price on a high end unit but they installed it in a timely manner and were so neat and clean about it. I am updating my review because I have used Island Air for years and they have gotten increasingly worse over the years. More recently, I had a technician come out to do a 6 month service check up. While checking the capacitor, he shorted out the wire. He tried to repair it but it didn't work because 2 days later there were no amps left in the capacitor so my compressor wouldn't turn on. Island Air came back out and charged me over $200 for a new capacitor, that their technician shorted out. Switching to another AC company in the future. read more

I was sold a Trane air conditioning system and have had to spend almost as much in repairs in the 18 months since going out of warranty as the system cost to install in the first place.. The Ruud system that this one replaced was almost twice as old with minimal service required.. Due to the failure of this Trane unit, a problem that was due to poor installation has caused ceiling damage to my home. I contacted this company and spoke to one of the owners and was advised that her company would assume no responsibility because it has been too long. . Not only did they install a GARBAGE product but would not stand behind their improper installation of drainage system that caused damage.. And what was worse was that they didn't even offer to send a tech to inspect these issues.. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company!!! read more

Crystal Gamboa will text message you and harasses you. my husband called because our AC went out, but he had to work so he would not be home during the service. The two workers one I'm assuming is Crystal 's husband came with a younger male to change out the capacitor that went out. me being a female they tell me the charge is $400 after it already being installed. (I have proof on my ring camera of the time they showed up and left) less then 20 mins. as soon as they told me it was being installed and it was $400. Obviously, I tell my husband right away not even 4 minutes later they are leaving the house but Crystal decides to harassed my husband saying they're family owed and they always go over price before doing so (which again I have proof on my ring camera) money isn't the issue being harassed over text. She continues to say she can send them back to take the part out and we can go else where. Cool come get your part. I don't agree with how she handled this situation and over text messages no phone call. She started this off by texting she needs paying. My husband reply's with "they told my wife they'd invoice us" she texts back " we'll I don't have your email to do so lol" #1 a phone call would've gone over a lot simpler and #2 isn't that information you should collect before having someone come out? all this is to say make sure you get confirmation of price BEFORE they do anything. or you will get a very unprofessional TEXT message from Crystal Gambia. we will gladly pay this price with a different company who isn't as rude as you. read more

Island AC provided excellent service all around and I highly recommend them. I called them up to have maintenance done on my elderly Grandmother's a/c unit, they were able to get someone out the same day and they called me up and explained everything very thoroughly. They very easily could've tried to oversell me on services since I live 2 hours away, but they performed only what was needed and made my life so much easier. Called to get an estimate for replacing a/c handler and duct work due to mold. We recently had a professional mold report done and the presence of mold was confirmed by not just 1 company but by 3. We've also received quotes from 2 other a/c companies who confirmed the handler and ducts are saturated with mold. In addition, it's visible to the naked eye and you can smell it. But when Island A/C came out I was told it wasn't mold but due to "burning candles." We purchased this house in October 2017 and from that time until now (Sept 2018) we have probably burned a candle a dozen times. It's only recently that we started burning candles because the smell of the mold became obvious. But when this idiot showed up I had a candle burning so according to him the black that covers the inside of my a/c unit is all from a candle. So, according to Island a/c if you light A(as in 1) candle 10-12 times in your home your entire a/c duct work will become covered in thick black debris (ours is) your handler will become covered in 1/2" of black debris inside & out (ours is), the air it generates will smell like mold (ours does) and your ceiling will turn black where the vents are ‍ Honestly, stupidest crap ever! But, I'm thanking God because when I saw this businesses reviews I'm elated I didn't hand them $10k!! read more

After losing our heat on a cold night for South Florida, we called Island Air twice, figuring they sold us our unit, and would be the best ones to fix it. Sadly, the company never called us back, and we practically froze that night. The next morning, we speak with their female owner, who was not apologetic at all. She said the after hours service was for their customers who had service agreements. We did not have a service agreement but we were customers for over a decade, having the company come out at least once a year to service our unit, they installed. We would've also paid the extra charge for service since we were freezing and had no other options. The owner told me their after hours was run by one guy, who may or may not call a person back, since he has to be at work at 8AM. That's not my problem that the company is too "thrifty" to give a guy the morning off since he just worked the graveyard shift. It seems to make bad business sense too, because if the guy was up all night, you wouldn't want him around sensitive electronic parts. You would think they would note that the after hours is available sometime, rather then letting customers expect service from you that they will never get. Anyways, the owner was rude and short with me and told me she was going to do absolutely nothing for me. Well, I can tell you we will absolutely never use Island Air ever again, and we will tell everyone we know to avoid them as well! read more

I can't speak highly enough about Island Air Conditioning and their service. I have been a customer for several years and have had outstanding service. I have a service contract and I am contacted when it's time to service. They come when they say they will, do what they say they will and I am always pleased. Recently we had an issue on a Sunday night. I called and they responded immediately. The technician was at another house and said he would call when he was on his way. Long story short, he suggested we try rebooting and it worked. The next day at 4 pm it crashed again. They were back out, replaced a couple of parts and we're as good as new. Just got whole AC unit installed in my house by Island air conditioning. My air unit is up in the attic, we just have the house fixed so the house is very clean. Glenns Jones and Luis Ramierel do great job of installing the unit. Not only the new unit run well, and the house is clean after the job is done,, but the guys finished within a day, no lunch. Repeat offenders! Unprofessional on so many levels and damaging work performed They have multiple times come out for a unit that they installed. Once it was installed at a bad angle and water started dripping out of it and I did up getting mold in three rooms because the ceiling was soaked. Then when they came out to fix a drain pan something else got knocked and now we have a burning smell and had to turn the unit off. We have called to have appointments and every single time they give a window they never show up till after the window. I have stopped excepting them into our community if they are late. They have a terrible lack of communication between the tech and the Client as far as expected arrival times and as a working mother this has cost me money I don't have to lose read more

Worst company ever. Called in May when my a/c unit was blowing warm air. Made an appointment for the same day, but no one showed up. After taking time off work to be there during the window of time they said they would arrive, I called to find out when they would be coming. They had no record of my appointment. They set an another appointment for the following day. They sent a rookie who was constantly on the phone to his supervisor. He checked the freon and said it was low. Although I don't know much about HVAC, I know enough that low freon is a signal of a leak. He only checked for leaks in the compressor, not the air handler. He added 3 pounds of freon and said there was something wrong with the thermostat. Go figure! He spent the next 2 1/2 hour trying to replace the thermostat. Unsuccessful. More than 3 hours had already passed with literally nothing accomplished, so I said enough. I had other commitments. He said someone would come by before 6pm to replace it. Again, no one showed up. In July, I experienced the same issue. I called them again and they did send a senior technician who determined the evac coil was bad and needed replaced. He added freon so it would cool until they could get an estimate to me. He said the invoice for the freon would trigger the office to provide me with an estimate. Well--it didn't. Never heard from them again. Two days later, my a/c unit is blowing warm air again. I went to another company who replaced both the compressor and air handler the following day. Island Air is a horrible company who does not have qualified individuals on staff and do not follow up on their commitments. Run from this company. Love to give them less than one star because they don't deserve even that. read more

This company has a heart. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They know their product and fix problems. Our air conditioner which was old and completely died while we were away. We got back home on a Friday afternoon only to discover this, and we called them. Due to permits required they couldn't do anything till Monday. What they did do though was supply us with 2 portable AC units for our home until the new one comes. And the installer came at 6pm on Friday to provide them!! That was so incredibly nice! I use Island Air Conditioning for my home A/C servicing and have been very pleased. Jimmy is really nice and is always helpful and gives honest advice for repairs. When the A/C unit in my office went out 2 days ago, the first company I thought of was Island Air due to Jimmy's great service in the past. We received bids from all of the local companies. While Island Air was not the cheapest of the bids, I trusted them and decided it was worth it to pay a little more. I'm glad I trusted my gut. Island Air was at the office today and worked all day to put in a new system. Both repairmen would not leave until they were fully satisfied that the work was perfect. Jimmy arrived on time, and listened to my concerns about two leaks we have in the home we just purchased at short sale in Boca Raton (we just moved here from Northern Virginia). We new the air conditioner was old, neglected, and needs to be replaced, but we do not yet have the money to install a new unit. Jimmy inspected the whole system and found the cause of both leaks. Jimmy removed some water logged insulation near the air filter and advised me as to what to do to keep the leak under control. He also found the cause of the second leak on the garage duct. There was an air leak causing condensation to leak down. Jimmy caulked it up for us till we are able to have him back to put in a whole new unit.
