I ordered from them today, like I have before and by jolly the food was wonderful yet again!!! I would highly recommend this place to any one passing by Rosamond or living here. The service was amazing, and the staff is super helpful and caring. Please give them a try, you won't regret it.

The food is mediocre. It's also overpriced. Can't really say it's authentic Mexican. We got the kids French toast 2/5 (basic) Sausage breakfast burrito 2/5 (ehh) Red chilaquiles 1/5 (super sogggggy!) I called my order in, was told 25 minutes. Got there with 5 minutes to spare and was told the chilaquiles weren't ready. She said "5 more minutes ". I said "okay, no problem". Literally waited another 25 minutes there. Was it worth it? No. Will I go again? Also, no. Thanks but no thanks. Will not be going back.

Beans and rice had a delicious and unique flavor. The enchilada and taco combination was excellent! Fresh salsa! 5 stars

    Mariachi

We decided to stop by Pepe's Kitchen to support the new business in town. From the start, the place had a lively vibe--the mariachi band playing added a lot of energy and excitement to the atmosphere, which was a nice touch and really made us feel welcomed. We were greeted right away, and that initial interaction felt warm and inviting, which got us excited to see what the meal would be like. However, there were a few bumps along the way. When our server came to take our order, I asked for a glass of water and was surprised to hear that they don't offer tap water and that I'd need to buy a bottle. Then, she asked if we'd like chips and salsa, and we agreed, thinking it was complimentary as in many other restaurants. We later found out there was an additional charge for the chips, which caught us off guard. I get that small businesses have to manage their costs carefully, so I understand the decision to charge, but unfortunately, the chips themselves were bland, and both types of salsa she brought were even less flavorful. The lack of seasoning or spice really took away from the experience. For drinks, I ordered an Horchata, which was priced at $6. I expected a nice, refreshing drink with that classic cinnamon and rice flavor, but the taste was overly rich and heavy on condensed milk, overpowering the other flavors. It didn't have the traditional taste I was hoping for, which was a bit disappointing. When it came to the food, I have to give them credit. I ordered a California Burrito, and this did not disappoint. It was packed with well-balanced flavors and had the hearty, satisfying taste you'd want in a burrito. My wife went for the 3 hard shell taco combo. Unfortunately, the tacos missed the mark--they didn't have the bold flavors we were expecting. However, the side of beans that came with her meal was delicious, so it wasn't all bad. Service-wise, it felt a bit lacking. Aside from taking our order, bringing out the drinks, and delivering our food, we barely saw our waitress. We didn't have anyone checking in to see if we needed anything, and in the end, we had to get up ourselves to request the check, which left us feeling a bit overlooked. I don't enjoy leaving critical feedback for a local business, but I hope they can take this review constructively. Pepe's Kitchen has a lot of potential with its lively atmosphere and good menu ideas. If they can work on adding flavor to the basics like chips, salsa, and tacos, and improve on service touches to make customers feel more attended to, I think they could become a popular spot in town. There's room for improvement, but they're off to a decent start.

We were one of two tables in the entire place, which made it extra quiet but also kind of fun. The walls are covered with cool aviation photos and relics, and the best part is that it sits right next to a runway. Watching planes taxi and cruise by while you eat is genuinely entertaining and easily the highlight of the visit. The food, unfortunately, did not live up to the setting. I had the chicken tenders and my girlfriend ordered the soup, and both were fine but very forgettable. Nothing bad, just nothing that would make you detour for it. Service was friendly, though a bit slow considering how empty the restaurant was. Worth a stop if you are into planes or need a break from the drive, but I would come for the view and the novelty more than the food.

Tuesday, March 10th, we traveled to Bakersfield to pick up a vehicle I had purchased, and of course had to stop by Kohnen's. It is difficult to walk away without a mini-pie (try them all, but blackberry is freaking amazing!!). As always, Danelle was there with her typical congeniality and work ethic! We love her!! I visited Kohnen's Bakery Tehachapi yesterday with my family, and this was honestly one of the…read moreworst customer service experiences I've ever had. I only purchased two items -- one cream puff and one slice of cheesecake -- but the cashier charged my card THREE times due to repeated mistakes. Here's exactly what happened: 1) My first card (Card A) was charged $11.20. The cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then she told me the receipt didn't come out because the transaction "didn't go through," and asked me to provide my card again. 2) I gave the same card again, and this time she charged $11.69. 3) Then again, she told me that it didn't go through, so I used a different debit card (Card B), which was charged $11.20. While sitting at the table with my family, I immediately checked my bank account and thought I had only been charged twice. I spoke to a staff member at the store and requested a refund for one of the $11.20 charges, which was processed. However, today I realized I had actually been charged three times, meaning there was still another $11.20 that needed to be refunded. So I called the bakery and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with someone named Danielle. I calmly explained the entire situation and told her I would send all my receipts and bank transaction records by email so they could double-check and confirm everything. She said ok and gave me their email address, but it was very long, and I was concerned about making a mistake while writing it down. So I politely asked if she could text me the email address instead. Her response was extremely rude -- she said, "I'm not required to do that," and told me to just write it down myself if I had a pen and paper. Although I was already uncomfortable with her attitude, I carefully wrote it down and sent the email. However, the email bounced back as invalid, even though I had confirmed the spelling with her multiple times over the phone. When I called again, Danielle answered and said, "Ma'am," in a very dismissive tone, and told me that they had found the three charges and had already processed refunds for both $11.20 transactions. I tried to confirm which card the refund was going to, since I used two different cards, but after putting me on hold for a long time, she read off a card number that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my card, she insisted those were the only transactions for $11.20 yesterday and told me to "check my bank in a few days" and call back if the refund doesn't show up. And, she didn't apologize for the mistake, even though they charged my cards three times and wasted a significant amount of my time. Even yesterday, when I asked for an apology, I only received one reluctantly after I pointed out that they had made a mistake -- and even then, the response was dismissive, as if I should just accept it because they were "taking care of it." The attitude throughout this entire situation was rude, unprofessional, and extremely frustrating. The cheesecake was very good. But because of this experience, I would never come back. We drove all the way from Los Angeles to Tehachapi with my family, expecting a pleasant visit, but this bakery completely ruined the day. Being charged a total of $34.09 for just two small items due to repeated errors is unacceptable. If your staff cannot properly process payments, they should not be working as cashiers. Situations like this should never happen. What's even worse is that after making multiple mistakes, there was not a single sincere apology -- only attitude, dismissiveness, and instructions for me to keep checking my bank and call back again. My time is valuable. This entire situation could have been avoided if things were handled properly from the beginning. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I am very disappointed. Cf) For reference, the other $16.05 receipt is for bread that my brother purchased.
