I have been going to Pepe's for over 30 years! Same location in Fullerton. My family has birthday parties every year there. Recently went and got Asada fries. Note, the FRIES are amazing! They were skinny burnt fries and cold. I asked the manager about it on a subsequent, he seemed bothered by the comment and said they use whatever is in stock. Well for 30 years you used one kind? The green and red salsa that is made fresh and put into little plastic containers now comes in a space age vacuum sealed packet. And the beans, the famous bean and cheese burritos that we loved so much, WHAT HAPPENED? Beans are not the same. I was happy to pay the increased prices after the very long remodel....but lowering the quality of the food my family and I loved is not the answer. Quality is important! Starving and in the drive thru at Pepe's and I waited 10 minutes to get to the window where the girl has my bag of food in hand and she apologizes and says her credit card machine went down. I told her I didn't have any cash on me. She said I'm sorry and pulled the bag away from the window. My question is, what did they do with my food? As a hospitality professional myself, I personally would have given the food to the customer solely for the inconvenience. I'm pretty much thinking my meal became an employees lunch because to re-sell it to another diner would horrify me! I cannot comment on the food as I was not able to taste anything. This place is close my girlfriend's sisters and once I tried going there after a hard night of drinking and the next morning, was denied because they didn't have pancakes. I made it a mission to get out here and yesterday, I made it! It's conveniently close to the doubletree hotel and other essentials but this Mexican food spot is incredible. Firstly is the staff: they are a great bunch. One of them brought me out a squeeze bottle of some of the best salsa verde I have ever enjoyed. The breakfast burrito was the size of a newborn baby but I handled it well. It had bacon, egg, beans, and salsa. It kept me full till about 6pm and I had it at 9am. They have a lot of other stuff to eat but I'll have to come try their crunchy and street tacos next time. I'm glad to have finally experience Pepe's! read more

Their Pepe's fries and potato tacos are great, too. My boyfriend mainly gets their breakfast burritos and they're his favorite out of anywhere else we go. Are there new owners??? I have been going to Pepe's for 60 years. My dad was friends with the founder Joe I have had good food for years. Not outstanding but good. Until tonight wow most disgusting tostada I have ever had. The meat was ice cold and dry. Tostada shell was rancid. Just awful. Went straight into the garbage. To top it off driving through the drive thru I saw a 50 pound bag of onions laying directly in the floor. Back door wide open welcoming in rats. I wanted to cancel my food.... I can say without a doubt in my mind it was the single worst breakfast burrito I have ever eaten (well, half eaten). First, the moment I bit into in, the entire thing fell apart. But I would rather have a smaller portion of good food than a huge portion of very below average food. What the burrito fell apart, I really had no choice but to open it up and use fork. Instead it was filled with big chunks of potatoes, beans and Pico de Gallo that was clumped and the very bottom ( I will say that, at least, was very fresh). My go to order is their California burrito (about $13) double wrapped with carne asada with extra side of green sauce (the green sauce has a good amount of spiciness). I found that if you don't order it double wrapped, the tortilla will eventually tear due to the juices inside the burrito. Inside the burrito, you have your choice of meat, pico de gallo, guacamole with lettuce, fries, and cheese. Furthermore, the past few times I've been here the burrito wasn't that great that I'm used to. The meat was extremely salty.. it was unbearable, I called the restaurant to tell them how salty it was and asked to speak to the manager. As soon as I was explaining how salty it was she hung up on me. Service could be better here. Another couple times, the burrito wasn't wrapped well and it fell apart and had to eat an open burrito. As far as the taste, there was only maybe 1.5 strips of bacon in there so I was highly disappointed. Soooo the reason I'm giving this specific location a 1 star has nothing to do with the food or employees but I would really like for everyone that loves this place as much as I do know how their employees are being robbed of their tips I do not tip at this location anymore. My son's girlfriend worked there only for a few months. Tell me why the employees do not re their tips so what they do is collect all the tips and supposedly save them until the end of the year which at that time they split the tips and give it out as Christmas bonuses.... I was so livid to hear that so when my son's girlfriend quit she had worked there for about 4 to 5 months they gave her, her last check so when she came home I asked her what about your tips. From the months you were there how does that work because its not added to your check so Iade her go back and. Just to get her out of their hair they gave her 40 dollars ....are you kidding me. The pick up window is old, which I couldn't help noticing whenever he opened and closed the window. Customer service was okay. The Breakfast Burritos are huge. It feels heavy in the bag. When I got home and cut it in half, you can see that it's packed with ingredients. It was a little more pricier than most Breakfast Burritos. I like that there's a small amount of beans and more potatoes. The bacon pieces were crispy and there was diced onions as well. The burrito itself could have used more seasoning. The salsa helps.
