I was happy with my service. I walked in and they serviced my car in 30 minutes. The clerks with friendly and the lobby is clean. My only complaint is the public restrooms were gross and unsafe. The women's bathroom had no functioning lock, meaning any person could walk in on you while you are sitting on the toilet. There was only a paper sign on the door asking you to knock before entering. There was also no toilet paper. This is not ideal for people waiting around for their car to be serviced. read more

Got a confirmation for my service to be performed. When I arrived I gave my name and stated I made an appointment. The man working then began listing batteries significantly more expensive than what I had booked. I denied all and then showed the appointment information which he stated he did not have and was told that they don't sell the battery i had selected. I ordered bias trailer tires from an online distributor. Pep Boys in Ventura was listed to mount these tires on my trailer. I scheduled the appointment for April 20 at 0900. The tires were delivered at Pep Boys in Ventura Thursday April 16. I called the store Friday April 16 to confirm delivery of the tires & if it was possible to bring in the old tires & rims for mounting of the new trailer tires. The tire mechanic said they were very busy and couldn't get to them Friday. I thanked him & said I have an appointment Monday April 20. Monday April 20 I brought the old tires & rims for mounting of the new trailer tires. Enrique, one of the tire mechanics, was at the front desk. I gave him the order number & said I'm here to have my new trailer tires exchanged off the tires in the back of my truck. He immediately tells me they do not do trailer tires. I said that wasn't on the order or clarified when the tires were purchased & scheduled for mounting. He said we don't do trailer tires. At that point, I said what the F. He ordered me to leave the shop due to the F word. I asked for my tires & then I would leave. He wouldn't give me the tires. The company I ordered the tires from called their office & said if I came into their store the police would be called. I called Pep Boys in Oxnard to see if they change trailer tires. They do!. They said the only problem is how they have to jack up the trailer to exchange the tires. Otherwise, it is a normal tires change. I informed them the tires are off the trailer! DO NOT COME HERE. They are not a business of their word. I was stranded on the freeway left with the choice of paying $300 from a tow company or getting a tire from them for $175. My friend went to get the tire for me at 6:30pm. I was told that if she arrived any time before 6:45pm they would sell her the tire and mount it. Once she arrived they said that they couldn't mount it but sold her the loose tires. I then got a tire and got it mounted at Costco for $150 a better price. Next morning I come to return the tire since it's no longer needed and they said "we don't accept returns on loose tires". Knowing it's unused, hasn't even been 24 hours and that I wouldn't be returning it if they would've kept their word and mounted it. Terrible business! read more

I'm updating my review, I changed my headlight 2 years ago for $25 installed in less than 15 minutes, I went back on August 2022 for the exact same headlight and they were asking for $120! Seriously guys ? You're more expensive than the car dealer, your products are generic products with poor quality and last barely 2 years! I went to Pepboys on Oxnard blvd to get a quote, they were asking for $90, slightly cheaper but unbelievably expensive as well. Absolutely the worst.. Took my Jeep in for a new battery. Simple enough right. Wrong. They lost pieces, broke pieces and there were 3 guys working on it, looking for the lost piece, they were cussing, hitting my bumper trying and find the bolt. They lost a piece for the terminal so now my battery isn't tight. It's not getting a good connection. This almost killed me and my family on Sunday. I Lost All Power to my car and I was on the freeway. Then almost killed myself and my only child Monday.. Now I have to buy a new terminals set. $70. From Jeep so I can have a solid connection. I already paid pep boys for a new battery and they broke my car. Now I have to pay for a set of new terminals. I'm glad we have video. But I'm so disappointed. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. I walked in 10 minutes to closing and asked to have a battery replaced. They were absolutely fine with that. It took all of 20 minutes and then they apologized to me for how long the wait was. Zane was at the counter and very helpful. He went on to explain that a terminal also needs to be replaced but recommended we go to the dealership to buy it and bring it back in there. (re; Ventura Pep Boys on Thompson Bl., Ventura, Ca.) - I needed my oil pan bolts re-torqued to hopefully contain some oil leakage. Not only did Pep Boys Service Center Ventura do the job while I waited (approx. 45min) they even 'topped off' the oil in the motor (at no extra cost)! When I got home I put a cardboard mat under the engine and 10min. later went back to check on the leakage and it was TOTALLY FIXED! NO LEAKAGE! They also advised me to get some oil additive to help with potential leakage in the future (and to clean the engine parts before the next oil change). All of this on a SUNDAY! Thank you Pep Boys! I can go back to work Monday with NO WORRIES (at least not about the car). read more

so me and my Dad were about to drive on the freeway to Santa barbara from ventura the day before Easter Sunday. As i drove for a few blocks i heard a flapping noice from one of my Front Driver side Tires. i pulled over and checked and yup its was a nail..so i rememberd passing them a few blocks back i slowly drove back and checked into the help area of the office they were almost about to close..i told them my situation of driving all the way on the freeway to get to santa barbara..i asked if there would be any other businesses open at this time as it was around 6pm and most everything is closed they were very friendly and stayed back a few minutes to help me and my Dad out. when it was all done i asked how much do i owe you they said you dont owe us anything we are glad to help..now this is how a true professional and friendly business should be Run!!! i really did appreciate them going out of their way i left a Tip of $50 just for the simple fact that its humbling to see these types of business do exist!!! thanks again Guys and a Happy Easter if i ever need any Tire replaced or any service i will for Sure give them my Business. keep doing what your doing me and my Dad thank you for it. read more

I've been a customer at this location for close to 10 years. 100% trust the care of my cars with these guys! Over the years I have gotten new tires, batteries, tire rods, lights, brakes.. all with ease and affordability. We had a situation arise this past week that affirms my trust with this place. Let me first say that Zane and Balthazar are the best!!! I bought a used mini van (2013 Honda Odyssey) from CarMax in May of this year. If you're not familiar with CarMax, all of their cars go through a rigorous inspection before being purchased. This includes an inspection of the tires. While I didn't know when these particular tires were placed on the vehicle, I can tell you that they manufactured in Oct 2017 and they were 65,000 mile tires. My car had 86,000 miles on it when I purchased it. With that information, it was pretty certain that the tires were placed on the vehicle within a year from purchase. They looked absolutely perfect when I drove off the lot. Fast forward to last week- unfortunately I got a nail in one of my back tires and it was time for an oil change anyway so I took my new car to pep boys to get a patch and an oil change. Zane came to me and said my front 2 tires were a safety hazard because they were so bald. I looked at him like he was crazy because how would that be possible if the tires were fine just 4 months ago?! He took me to look at my tires and I was mortified. The outer part of the front tires were fine. But the inner part of tires were so so bald that the wires were close to showing. I asked him his professional opinion on how this could happen- he said that there was a tire rod (or rods?) that were replaced recently and no alignment was done when there should have been one.. had there been a proper alignment then we wouldn't be in this situation. Keep in mind my back tires were still PERFECT. I went ahead and purchased the new tires, got the alignment.. and marched my butt back to CarMax Oxnard and asked for a manager. When I sat down with the manager, he tried to tell me that this was normal wear and tear. I may be car dumb but I'm not THAT dumb. I explained to him everything that Zane found and told him that I felt that they were responsible for the cost of my 2 brand new tires and alignment. The manager there told me that there is no way they would have done a tire rod without an alignment. I said prove it- let's see the service record. There was the new tire rods. And sure enough, guess what WASNT done? The f****cking alignment!!! Zane was spot on and because of his expertise we are getting the tires and alignment comped. We will be lifetime customers of Pep Boys :) read more

I have been to this Pep Boys before. Service is normally good. This time, it was different. I went in for 2 tires and an oil change. The price was good and service time was reasonable. But when I got to my car, I found that a valve cap was missing and the other three were loose. They found the missing cap. Fine. When I got home, I checked under the hood and found the oil cap just sitting on top of the engine. I also had to reset the maintainence light on the dashboard. Finally, all the tires were filled to 40 PSI. The sticker inside the driver's side door calls for 29 PSI. I hope this all was an anomaly, because my prior experiences there have been good. read more

Had a tire blow out on the 101 northbound on a Sunday. Called AAA and they found Pep Boys was open on Sunday. I called ahead and they said they had the tire in stock. They mounted the tire and balanced and aligned it (said mis-alignment was the cause of the blowout). They even stayed a little past their 6 p.m. closing time to make sure I was back on the road safely.
