We had just arrived in town from Flagstaff, Arizona for a medical appointment at the Med Center when our car started making alarming sounds from the right front end. As a "walk in", I expected to be either turned away or told to leave the car with them and come back the next day. Instead we were seen within a reasonable time frame, and we were back on the road in around three hours. These folks were courteous, polite, and the problem was fixed at a more than fair price. Came in for a routine oil change and they caught low coolant plus some damaged suspension components. The team explained everything clearly, gave a fair quote, and upon approval of the quote had a very quick turnaround time. Parts arrived within 24 hours and the repair was completed under the quoted time. Most of the staff I interacted with, front of house and master tech, were excellent and kept me updated whenever anything came up. New to town and I have been calling all over looking for 4 tires for my car. Apparently the tire size that I needed wasn't common & every place had to preorder them. I called Pep Boys as my last call and spoke with Roger. He was nice enough to check the new inventory that they had just received and was able to find the 4 tires that I needed. I explained to him my tires were in their last leg after a cross country drive and needed them changed ASAP. He told me they were booked until Friday but to come in and he would squeeze me in if I'm patient. I thanked him and got there as fast as I could. When I got there everyone was very friendly and helpful and explained everything to me regarding the tires and my car. First off I had my restoration business behind them for 15 years but it was still Advance Goodyear still. Did a ton of business with them. So the other day we went to drop off a tire and wheel to be mounted. Two rude as hell morons behind the counter said no problem, 50 bucks! I about craped myself and was told it was because I didn't buy the tire from them. Well no problem, probably bought 50-60 tires and wheels a year. Guess what, I will walk another 100 miles before they ever get a dime of my money ever again. read more

I needed a simple task that was to replace two wheel barrow tires with inner tubes. I used to do this myself so I ordered the tires and tubes online. They arrived and were exactly what I wanted. The tires are very heavy duty but not solid as many folks say you should get but the air filled still are more stable and work better. Most all contractors use air. Anyway I cleaned the rims up and checked the bearings and all which checked ok. I put a little spray of dish soap around the tire and rim and tried to work it on. Ok I'm old ann man d even using a large screwdriver and then an old heavy duty tire iron I couldn't get the darn thing on and I was concerned about pinching the inner tube. So I called pep boys and they quoted $10 a tire so I dropped them off and some three hours later they called and I paid and picked them up. They inflated them per spec at 30 Psi. JR was professional courteous and a pleasure to deal with. They do a great job!!! The next time my one of my vehicles need tires I'll check them out. read more

Friendly staff. But they have never been willing to do an alignment on my older vehicles since they always find something wrong, sometimes legitimately so but sometimes they just seem picky, like about the cams and casters. I have never been refused an alignment at Prescott Tire Pros or Big O Tires. On the positive side, they rotated my tires for free. Great coffee in the waiting area since they have a Keurig machine. Great location too. I went to the Mexican restaurant/bar near Safeway after dropping the car off, and it was a short walk. read more

These guys are the only ones in town I could find who sell lifetime alignment, which is basically required if you are to maintain your tire warranty. I used them a few times and they were much more friendly, efficient, and generally non-sleazy than the other similar chains I have used in the past. I can understand why the online appointment off the national website doesn't work well for them; they have different bays for different services and the national online appointment system probably doesn't give them enough information to determine which bay to use. So call instead and all is good. read more

Unfriendly and unreasonable. I have nearly 20 years in the car business with 15 years as a service advisor at busy dealerships. I gave the young manager a second chance and he failed miserably. Drove straight to Pep Boys in Prescott Valley and had a completely different experience. They actually performed the services I needed and were friendly and non-combative. No more chances. Went on two occasions one to get a tire change and an alignment on my tc. Both times i walked out with a quote for a repair that my car did not need. First time around was told my lower control arms need replacement a 1200 job that when it was really the lower ball joints a 100 dollar fix. Second time for the alignment they were unable to adjust my rear camber claiming it was un adjustable. And offered a 400 fix with a camber kit. Took it to another shop and they were able to align it. Don't waste your money here cause they don't seem to know what they're doing read more

Don't bother scheduling an appointment on line because apparently " it doesn't work " according to an employee. I scheduled an online appointment and when I called to verify because I hadn't received any confirmation, they told me I actually didn't have an appointment because their online scheduling system doesn't work. Seriously? Why does it schedule appointments then.Very frustrating considering you're email coupons tell you to schedule online and even tell you you have to in order to receive the coupon. Maybe you should consider updating you're website or inform you're customers that scheduling on line "doesn't work." Just a suggestion thanks for you're time.. read more

I was quoted a price for one new tire over the phone, which was price-matched from another store. The staff took my name, phone number, and the time I could come in to get it. When I went in to pay for the tire, I was told there was no way I could buy the tire for the price I was quoted. I was also told the other store did not sell that brand of tire, so the conversation I had the day before could not be true. Since I am not the liar here, I just bought the tire from the other store at 50.00 cheaper than Pep Boys. Dishonest, rude, and really unprofessional. read more

Needed the front end aligned, told them to do only the front end they did all four. The last three times I have had the alignment done they screwed up my Chevy truck ground rubber off driver toe. Wife's T100 they handed back the paperwork saying it is the best it can be and will get no better because of a lift yet it was better than my stock truck. My son just got his truck done and yes more excuses. Their machines are not accurate or the employees working on your vehicles are not trained properly either way I will never use them again and I advise anybody else to do the same. Jims alignment I will say has never done me wrong but you will need an appointment in advance. I came in recently for an oil change on my car. I was barely greeted by the two men behind the counter. When they asked what I was there for, I explained I had an appointment for an oil change. I was cut off by one of then men asking me sharply, "what kind of oil change?" While I was answering him, he turned his head towards the other man and started talking about something unrelated, like I wasn't even standing there. Then he put his hand out and rudely said, "keys". I took my xTerra in for an oil leak and to check the brake and brake pads. $1200 later and the leak was still not fixed, the brakes squealed for months and someone in the shop managed to crack my dashboard. Was given total blowoff and runaround when I approached them about all the issues. Ended up having to go to another mechanic. Useless! Very disappointing. read more

I scrubbed a curb on my chevy volt on a Saturday while visiting Prescott from phoenix, the tire was not repairable and Walmart advised me that they did not have the unique size tire that my car requires. Walmart sent me walking in the rain to pep boys. they not only had the tire that I needed, the master tech bob drove me back to collect the tire, he then changed it, Brought it back to the car and installed it, he then had me follow him back to the shop to rotate it to the axle that does not power the vehicle as he said different sizes on that axle can overheat the transmission. he also warned of possible antilock problems if one tire is too much newer than existing tires as the wheel speed will be slower on the newer larger diameter tire. I drove away with confidence and had a sincere feeling of safety while watching this guy torque my wheels with this fancy digital torque wrench and checking all my tires for air pressure, checked my oil and battery, and wipers and many other things that I would have never thought of... pep boys you better keep this guy as you have a customer for life. thank you thank thank you read more

I have used this shop for quite some time, before they were Pep Boys. I am a single woman and don't know much about tires or car care. They are honest and so helpful. I was told by someone at a body shop that I needed new tires on my car. I was getting ready to go on a vacation and I spoke with Roger. He was so honest and helpful--he said that I needed tires and although they would probably be ok for my trip, he would not recommend that I go without new tires. He did not have the tires I needed in stock, and he told me to go elsewhere--wow! He will always have my business because he cares more about honesty and caring for the customers than profit. (I hope this doesn't get him in trouble but that is what keeps me going there.) I highly recommend this business. read more
