This place is a joke. I waited 6 hours to have my tires replaced. Had an appointment at 11:30am, was told it would take 1.5 - 2 hours to complete, that's longish for tires but I was ok waiting. After 2 hours was told I was told my car was next up. It wasn't. Every hour I checked in only to be told by 3 different employees, oh your car is next up. It must be their default line. My car was never next up. 5 hours later they still hadn't even looked at it. I got my car back after 6 hours waiting there from 11:30am to 5:30pm. Never go here! read more

Absolutely Horrible. I made an 11:00am appointment to have a battery installed. I told them that I would wait for it to be done. Two hours later they still had not even looked at my car. When I inquired, they took it into the bay. Still no visit from the technician or the counter person to let me know what was going on. Finally I asked again and they said that I need a new battery. I knew that, that's why I made the appointment in the first place. It took them 3 hours to install a battery, with absolutely no consideration for my time, when they knew I was waiting. I would strongly suggest no one ever visit this place. Let them go out of business. The worst service imaginable. read more

Completely incompetent, ignorant, unprofessional, and rude. STAY AWAY. Had an appointment for a tire rotation. Assistant manager tried to lecture me that the staff had 35 years of experience and knew what they were doing. Then they refused to do the job because the mechanics felt "uncomfortable' pressing 2 buttons on the dashboard which needed to be pressed according the manufacturer before any 'jacking' up. A toddler can press 2 buttons, but your 'highly trained staff with 35 years experience' is too incompetent to do that. Wasted 45 minutes driving to the location and another 45 minutes driving home. Was told no tire technicians had come in yet(!) They had my number & could have let me know about the delay. Awful..3 hrs for 2 tires when I had an appointment. Then ended up almost stranded with a flat cause valve stem was leaking. Balance was not right. Also the kid doing the job had no idea what he was doing..took him 20 mn to get tire off rim. Put q of my new tires on someone else's rim and broke my hubcap. Then come up with some bs excuse to not do my alignment cause the kid had no idea what he was doing...I watched him the whole time..I should've recorded him and put it on tick toc it was so comical but not funny Cause it wasy whip! Came today with an appointment and it's been over an hour and my car hasn't been seen, and when I asked the manager tried to talk me out of an oil change even though the light is on. Next time I'll be taking my business elsewhere for sure. I know they are short staffed, but it's not right to discourage service. Even if they offered to do all my work for free I'd still rather take my car elsewhere. Ordered tires to be installed after purchasing them online at tire rack. When I got there, the place looked like a bomb had gone off inside it and then they made me wait for two hours before they told me that they did not have the tires even after I showed them a delivery confirmation that I ordered from tire rack. In addition they refused to talk to any Tire Rack representative to resolve the issue. I left without tires. I created a yelp account solely to warn anyone that might read this. read more

I made an appointment online for lifting services specifically as it said they do those, and when I got there, the service manager said they don't do those at Pep Boys after taking awhile to even find my appointment and said he's from Rhode Island, so he doesn't know and just try another Pep Boys. He was pretty rude about the whole thing and felt he was being dismissive. If you don't do something the website says specifically that you do, maybe at least be nice about it and not speak to me like I'm completely ignorant. I do most of my own restoration work but just don't have access to the equipment I normally would in the before times and didn't feel like breaking my back redoing the suspension. Actually Zero Stars! I chose Pep Boys for the coupon since an oil change in my BMW can be pricey. This is what I get for chasing the 30%off dream...My appointment was at 10 I was told it was going to take until 11 ok im fine with that I have to be. 5 min in I am told that they dont carry German parts/filters and they have to get it from the place down the street (since they do not have a parts store anymore!!) Ok fine no problem but I ask "will this add any time to my wait"...he says NO. Clock check: 10:55 rolls around and I look outside and notice my car is still sitting in the same spot I parked it in at 9:45 so I go to the counter to inquire about what is going on...."The store down the street did not have the part they had to get it from another one further away" It would have been nice to know that so I ask "how long" 45 MINUTES he tells Me and that the technician has to talk to me about taking off one of my tires...I am here for an oil change that should be max 20 minutes And I gave you an hour... I dont need you to attempt to man-splain a fake tire issue to upcharge me. My son took his vehicle in for a courtesy inspection of the brake system. His low brake fluid warning level message came on. The tech/hack claimed the left rear caliper was leaking along with the brake hose, and that the front brakes were "low". The caliper and hose had been replaced by me last November, and it is fairly obvious to anyone with eyes that they are fairly new. Right away, as an honest tech, you'd be advising that yes there is a leak (at the caliper only, I might add) but that considering how new the part is it likely has a warranty (which it does, lifetime by the way). Not these jackasses. They put together an estimate over $900. The front brakes are not low, the pads are wearing evenly and each one has about 7 mm of pad material. My son called me with this diagnosis, and I told him to decline the repairs, and bring the car to me (I am a retired Ford Master Technician, the car is a 2015 Ford Flex). I put the car up on my lift, and couldn't get the lug nuts off with my impact gun. I had to put the car back on the ground and use a 3 foot breaker bar on all 20 lug nuts to get them loose. Torque spec on these is 100 ft*lbs. Not cool. This place sucks. My service agreement from purchasing my car unfortunately operates thru pep boys so I have to come here for service. An oil change takes 4 hours (even with an appointment), they can never find the information the need for said agreement and honestly the staff is always so frantic and never very apologetic. It's pretty ridiculous, idk what kind of appointment system they have but it's not working. You can tell that everyone in the waiting room is having a very similar, frustrating experience. To the worker that called my friend stating his parts has arrived on Friday, March 2, 2018: My friend went on Wednesday and an older gentleman stated that the parts will be there on Thursday because that is when they receive shipments for all orders. My friend received a call Thursday evening about his two items were available for pickup. My friend went to pick it up on Saturday afternoon. The associate could not find one of the two items on the order and the person that happened to call him, just left for the day and they do not have their number to call and ask where it was placed. The manager tried to help, but it was misplaced and the associate offered another brand, which is better and the inventory displayed they had the part for me. The associate came back and told my friend that it was not there and they can't do anything about it, but only to refund. Another suggestion was to come back tomorrow, "maybe" it will be available. My friend went there twice, time wasted, and nothing can be done but just a refund was suggested; and why would he travel again? Two hours at the store with no results! My friend called corporate checking if the part can be shipped FedEx as he had an appointment with the mechanic to have it done the next day morning, plus it was not safe to drive as he has two young children. The customer rep. told my friend that they cannot do it as the order amount does not meet the free shipping. They can't even manually adjust it to fulfill the order that was supposed to be there for my friend. Overall, time wasted, no substitution and pretty much time wasted on the scheduling for the mechanic and safety for his children. Reason he purchased it at Pepboys is because of the sale price and the reputation they carry, but unfortunately, this company just plainly sucks! Just wasted time, had no inventory, and can't fulfill a simple order. He highly suggests that all customers go to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts, or even O'Reilly, than this company that has NO INVENTORY; anywhere! Sale or no sale, they do not have inventory period. Never heard from anyone at Pep Boys until yesterday when I got a call from the store to tell me that American Auto Security had inquired about my car (after I had notified them that Pep Boys had told me that they had denied the request for the AC condenser to be replaced and was told that they had no such request for my plan). I took my car to QUALIFED mechanic and he told me that I did need some brake work which he did and that the only thing wrong with the AC was that the freon had been drained. He filled and tested for leaks or damage andd he found none. So Pep Boys attempted a scam but got caught!I wrote an email to brian_kaner2pepboys.com, the CEO, but as expceted heard nothing back! Scheduled an online appointment 4 new tires for 1pm - arrived at 12:45 - they took my keys, I left for 2 hours, figured that was sufficient time for a tire replacement. They had not even started on my vehicle. Sat in the lobby area that offered ripped chairs, trash all over, unsanitary to say the least. Jeff comes over to tell me the tires I ordered online were not available but not to worry they will replace with better tires for the same cost. 4 pm they tell me my car is ready, walk out the door oh no! Tires they put on my car were the wrong size, total bait and switch, they knew it was the wrong size and tried to cover it up by saying these were super nice tires only for some other vehicle. A blonde older gentleman began yelling at me when I walked back inside to ask if he could help me , he said you're not next in line I'm busy ( he was not doing a thing ). Then Christian comes out and tells me his area manager will only give me my money back if they give me my old tires back - or they would find a set of tires that did fit my car and replace with those. So after 5 hours of my day I either get nothing or I try to get it resolved. My hands were tied at this hour due to my having a work trip next morning needed my car. So I wait again another 1.5 hours - 7pm they come out to hand my keys, I get into the car and 5 minutes later a pop and car is shaking - call Christian back he says they didn't rebalance the car and to come back in... these are NOT mechanic, and at this point I'm not safe in the car. Arrived at 12:45 left at 8pm and still not sure if my car is safe to drive. Furthermore the credit they claimed to refund to my credit card did not show. They stole my money , tried to bait and switch , put my back into an unsafe vehicle and stole 8 hours of my day where I lost business appointments . This place should be shut down immediately- horrible service, inexperienced and incompetent staff, not mechanics I repeat not people to send your vehicle to they have not been trained. I want to start out by saying I give them -5 stars.......Well I booked an appointment for 8am on a Friday was told to come back the tires would be in later that afternoon. Called at 4pm was told "your car is next on the lift". So I headed down there at around 530 figuring it should be close to done, no such luck truck was in the same location in the lot I left it. So I decided to take a walk and come back around an hour later still the truck is in the parking lot. Truck makes it into the garage about 715, 45 minutes prior to closing. 745 rolls around and no work is being done so I tell the man at the front desk I'll be back tomorrow. At this point I'm told no problem it will be done. So I take my 25$ Uber home. Wake up in the morning no one at the store will pickup the phone, so I head down around 1pm Saturday assuming the extra time will allow them to finish the 4 tires and I'll be on my way. Well when I get there to my surprise the vehicle hasn't been touched and is on the lift and no one is working on it. I ask the front desk associate when I would be able to expect the job to be done he replies, "my tire installer is at lunch I will have him work on it immediately upon returning". At this point I don't have time to wait around as I had prior obligations Saturday afternoon. So I leave with the promise that my vehicle will be all set upon returning the next day. Sure enough return the next day vehicle is still on the same lift with the same tires on I dropped it off with Friday morning. I made them take my truck off the lift, because at this point I had no vehicle for 2.5 days and have had to Uber around or catch rides from family and friends. Worst service I've ever had. Weird how I went to another tire shop and seemed to have no issue getting new tires in 3.5 hours the following day. On the day of my appointment I was there on time and they took my car. One of the employees told me it would be an hour of waiting for the car to be done. After an hour and a half, I asked how much longer it would take and the guy told me that they didn't even have my tires ! When I asked him why he didn't tell me they had no tires before I waited ask that time, he went off on a tangent about how "people just tap away at their phones while on the couch and want services like magic." WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER! Story time, gather around boys & girls. CHAPTER 1: DEEP IN CYBER WORLD I walk in with an exchange, it's a small item, K&N recharge kit. Costs no more than $12. I wait inline as one employee is finishing up a convo with another customer from behind the counter. I notice another employee behind the counter, she's sitting on 2 red wash buckets while playing with her cellphone. She looked very comfortable and entertained with her instagram/Facebook/twitter/tinder/Snapchat. I didn't want to interrupt so I stood there without her even knowing of my existence. CHAPTER 2: EXIT CYBER WORLD, ENTER WORK Soon the other employee finishes his convo and greets me. I tell him I'd like to make a return. He points me over in the direction of the register Miss Oblivious aka 2 buckets, 1 cellphone girl. To keep this novel short, I didn't have my receipt and we go back & forth. After a 3rd trip back from playing monkey in the middle with myself and the manager, the actual manager comes out. Her name is DONNA. Maybe if I returned a wash bucket, it wouldn't have escalated to DONNA because then she'd have a third bucket to kick up her feet! Heyyy! CHAPTER 3: DONNA DONNA starts to reiterate everything. I explain to DONNA I work in retail, I understand a receipt is needed for exchange/return but mostly it's to deter false returns from theft. Can you please make an exception for a $12 item? DONNA's answer? You guessed it! No! Unsatisfied with her answer, I rant about how this has been the worst customer experience ever beginning with 1 GIRL 2 BUCKETS. DONNA stood behind a fixture with her hand over her mouth.. after 5seconds of silence and no response, I ask a rhetorical question asked with a smile, "You really don't care at all?" "Really going to lose a customer over $12?" I start making my way to the exit. CHAPTER 4: PARKING LOT PARADISE I've always noticed the trash in the parking lot from my previous visits but that day that garbage glistened like glitter while I waited on the phone with a representative from corporate customer care. The rep said I would be given a follow up call with a resolution within a couple days. CHAPTER 5: WENT DOWN DA ROAD Took my business down the street to AutoZone. They took great care of me, I grabbed the supplies I needed that day, made the exchange, asked if I had a receipt, told them no and they got me on my merry way. CHAPTER 6: ART'S ANSWER I got a call from ART THE STORE MANAGER OF PEPBOYS DEDHAM. He apologized and told me to come in and he'd take care of my return personally. Ah too late I already down da road to AutoZone and they took great care of me. ART: "Well if you have any other future returns, I'll take care of you personally" ME: "okay" INNER ME: "how are you going to take care of my future returns when I won't be making any more purchases from PEPBOYS?" CHAPTER 7: THE END, THE END OF ME EVER SPENDING A GODDAMN DIME IN A PEPBOYS ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN. Really? That was the resolution? Pepboys lost a lifetime customer over a $12 K&N air filter cleaner kit. This Dedham location needs to take a crash course in Customer Service 101. Honestly my experience is that of the training videos portraying an over-the-top exaggerated poor customer service scenario. Ok. Had a tire prepaid and delivered here. Same day after looking they said they could find it. I had to call the tire company who then called them and miraculously my tire was found. That was just the beginning. Asked them to put the tire on. They refused saying I had mechanical damage on my axle/tie rods and it would cost 2200.00. Ok. I bring the same Pep Boys invoice to Meineke. Same exact work performed. I paid 700.00. New axel and tie rods and tire replaced. So glad I didnt listen to these jack a****. read more
