We had a very disappointing experience with Pep Boys in Dacula. We purchased and had new tires installed in December 2025. Shortly after the installation, we began hearing noticeable brake noise coming from the driver's side of the vehicle. In January, we brought the car back to Pep Boys specifically to ask about the brake noise. They denied any responsibility or wrongdoing related to the tire installation and claimed there were no brake issues caused or overlooked during their service. They then provided us with a quote for brake replacement that exceeded $1,400. What was most alarming was that the estimate listed remanufactured brake components for a 2024 vehicle, which is unacceptable at that price point and raises serious safety concerns. We ultimately took the vehicle to the dealership for a second opinion. The dealership was genuinely surprised that Pep Boys did not identify brake issues at the time the tires were installed. We were told the brake problems should have been noticed much earlier and that there is no reasonable way the condition developed in less than a month between the tire installation and the brake repair. Between the lack of accountability, the extremely high estimate, and the use of remanufactured brake parts on a newer vehicle, this experience left us with very little confidence in Pep Boys Dacula's inspection process or recommendations. We will not be returning and would not recommend this location to others. read more

In March, this business replaced my entire clutch system due to some problems I was having shifting from three of the gears of my five speed. Seven months later, the same issues began to occur. Assuming I could trust the workmanship of the business, I took it back to them to evaluate. They happily agreed to evaluate it, but cheerfully reminded me that I did not purchase the extended warranty that would cover any labour for any problem that I had fixed previously. Strike one. Later in the day, I received a phone call from Adam, letting me know that they had "run the vehicle through their regular diagnostic check", and they found they needed to drop the transmission to figure out the issue, and I'd need to pay for it. Twice more, he reminded me that I hadn't purchased the extended warranty. I told him I must have blindly trusted their workmanship by not purchasing the extended warranty, and that if I'd known the car was going to do THE EXACT SAME THING I BROUGHT IT IN FOR 7 MONTHS BEFORE, they should stand behind their work. Adam asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. He transferred me to a manager, and I explained the situation again. The manager was rude, found 2 more ways to insert the "you didn't purchase the extended warranty". I told him that fact had now been well established, and it was obvious he didn't care about me as a customer. I told him I'd never purchased an extended warranty for ANY repair for ANY of my cars, because I had become accustomed to not needing it, because with every other business I'd used, I didn't have to come back for the same problem. After a few more condescending statements com the manager, I asked if I could just pick up my car and take it somewhere else. He said yes, and there'd be no charge. Ten minutes later, Adam called me back, saying he'd talked with the manager, and since I was a "good customer" and had "spent a lot of money" with them, they would drop the transmission and check into the issue at no charge, even though (wait for it) I hadn't purchased the extended warranty. read more

Pep Boys Dacula, GA I am formally submitting a complaint regarding my experience at the Pep Boys location in Dacula, Georgia. I am a long-time and loyal Pep Boys customer. Unfortunately, on this visit, I was humiliated and treated unprofessionally by Jonathan, the manager on duty. Before coming in, I called the store to schedule brake pad replacement. Manager on duty told me the work could be completed the same day, which I agreed to because my wife and I only have two vehicles for work. Upon arrival, I noticed Jonathan appeared to be in a poor mood, but I proceeded with the service. After taking my information, he informed me it would be a couple of hours before the work could begin. We agreed on a price of $274 for brake pads. Shortly after my vehicle was taken in, Manager on duty returned and said I also needed new rotors, increasing the cost to $515. I looked through the window and saw that only the front tires had been removed. I explained that I did not have the funds for rotors and asked that the tires be put back on so I could park the vehicle until I could afford the repair. At this point, Manager on duty became angry and shouted at the technician to stop working. He then told me I would be charged for two hours of labor, stating, "Nothing is free in this world." I questioned why I was being charged labor when the only work done was removing the tires for inspection. Feeling pressured, I called my wife and explained that we had no choice but to approve the full brake and rotor replacement using a credit card. When I told Jonathan we would proceed, he remained angry for no clear reason. While waiting, two other customers commented on Manager on duty attitude. I stated that I felt the service was unprofessional and dishonest. When my car was ready, Jonathan entered the waiting area and began yelling at me in front of other customers, accusing me of "running my mouth," and told me to "get the F out." I left the facility without responding further as he continued repeating, "Nothing is free in this world." This experience was humiliating and unacceptable. I do not believe this behavior reflects Pep Boys' customer service standards. I am requesting that corporate review this incident and contact me regarding this matter. read more

I have been coming to pep boys in Dacula for months since we moved to the area. Service and customer service used to be great but not anymore. I took my car for oil change and they told me my wipers needed to be replaced for $16 each I said OK. all together was $120 which I couldn't understand why because high milage oil was $70 + $32 = $102... whatever. next day we took my husband car for high milage oil + wipers as well... SAME THING, right? we asked around how much? they said it'd be the same, about $120 we said OK. First of all, a couple hrs later they called my husband in so he could pick up the car and when we got there they said SORRY, WE CALLED WRONG CUSTOMER. they made us go all the way up there, wasting gas and time.... and on top of that we had to leave the car over night. Next morning we got a call saying car is ready it'd be $120 something we said ok. When we got there, a really rude guy said "your total is $180" I said WHAT.... I got the same thing done yesterday for $120 plus you called this morning and said $120 why are you overcharging us???? A WHOLE 15 MINUTES if not more, arguing with this man because he wanted to overcharge ME. He said wipers are $30 each not $16 each... he said they put synthetic oil instead of high mileage, he said labor blah blah blah I DONT CARE. if you quote me for something, and also call me to confirm that's how much I need to pay, I am not going to pay more. We never asked for $30 wipers or synthetic oil so that's on you. Not only that, my car engine light came on the SAME DAY after they changed my oil. Another day at pep boys. A guy say "we owe it to you, we'll check it and see what happened, maybe they left something loose" I said ok fine. hours later I get a call saying your car needs all these things changed blah blah blah for $1800" I said I don't have that kind of money right now ill just pick up my car... he said ok it'll be $60... WHAT? you said you OWE ME. You never said you'd charge me. The light came on AFTER YOU changed my oil... didn't even address it or anything but now you're gonna charge me for it? not only that... same day I had to drive in the rain with my wipers off because THEY BROKE... THE SAME DAY. Cheap wipers and bad labor that could've caused an accident. When I went back to get them replaced the same rude guy said "WE INSTALLED THESE?".... YES YOU DID!!!!!, and this is my 3rd freaking day in a row coming because of your incompetence....The guy opened a whole new packet of wipers and only changed the damaged one. No apologies nothing. plus now I am concerned if the other one will break too. I won't be coming to pep boys again. My vehicle has been at this location since 10am. Called at 1:15 pm and they said my car was next. Here it is 4:30 PM and still waiting. All I needed was 4 tires to be changed, and they were all in stock. Walked from my house back to the location and see noone even at my car. At least you could of said it'll be a 6 hour wait Excuse was the tires weren't in stock. I was lied to online when I looked to see if they were here, then lied to in my face when I specifically asked. At the time of the pictures, the tires were here! Historically, we have had great luck at this location, however my mom has recently had the exact opposite. She took in her volvo for air conditioning issues. It's been in 5 times. They have "fixed" 4 different very expensive things that have cost around $4,000. They just told her that it was actually none of those things they fixed (obviously, because the air is still not working) and that they can't fix it. They said they can't do anything about the fact that she paid all that money and it's not fixed and she just needed to take it to the dealer. When I questioned the price, she tried to get a customer, from the waiting room, who was in his police uniform to intervene - what incompetence! This time I called, Morgan picked up, same shoddy attitude as always. Said my oil change was $102.00 plus plus. I went on Amazon, I bought my synthetic oil, and my AC Delco OEM oil filter all for $28.00 - be at my home tomorrow. I have an old oil pan, and obviously a wrench. Had a dead battery in my daughters 2015 Sentra. I had just stopped at the auto parts store that is supposed to install batteries but I could tell by the look on the managers face he didn't want to. He told me the post was too corroded and I would have to take it to NTB. I thought that I could probably get it off but really didn't want to hassle in the cold and bust up my knuckles so I went to Pep Boys down the street. I was greeted by friendly Morgan and she gave me a rough idea about worse case scenarios on cost which all seemed fine with me. I left it with her because they are busy (I would rather a busy shop than a slow shop). My only complaint is it took longer than I hoped but I get it back and they didn't even have to spend all the money I thought that I would spend! Called in to Pep Boys, Dacula on Wednesday. Made an appointment for Sunday, because I was advised it was a slow day. Appointment time was at 11am. I arrived 15 minutes early due to me being a first time customer. I was to receive a simple oil change. When I arrived there was only 1 person in the waiting room, and two cars in the bay areas. Literally waited over two hours, and they still aren't finished. My question is why make an appointment if it's going to take all day. This is ridiculous! read more

I went there to get tire repair, I had a nail in one tire. Upon arriving Kevin came out to take a look. Once he determined the nail hadn't went all the way into the tire he remove the nail, and brought all 4 tires up to proper tire pressure. This was done at no charge. We were visiting from out of town and needed emergency tires replaced. Matt and his associates were most courteous, respectful, friendly, knowledgeable, and yet, business to us. He gave us the greatest deal on 4 of their best tires for the money to help us out. The store was clean and comfortable as well. They even stayed after closing hours to make sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this tire company to anyone whether emergency or not. They are honest and caring for their customer. My car completely shut down in the KFC drive-through next door to Pep Boys, two KFC workers and I had to push my car in a parking stall while another worker was polite enough to call Pep Boys while we were getting my car out of the way. I was having a bad day tbh, I had my children with me and a trunk full of groceries (who wants to cook after grocery shopping, right?) but the guys from Pep Boys came over and were helpful. My car was dead and would not power up enough to roll the window up. I left my car in their care, they called and told me that I needed a new alternator gave me a price and told me that it could be done the next day. We arrived and were told a few minutes, no issues so we walked to a nearby restaurant. Upon our return the car was still parked outside where we left it! We were then told that the delay was due to previous appointments, that they'll get to it right away. This was the same person who said a few minutes! Eventually they got to it and then after another wait I noticed the car was still sitting there with the hood up and NO ONE AROUND! They had finished it up but never took it down. Pep Boys would get no stars if I could give it to them. They installed my RF axel seal wrong and now I need a trans drain and fill. Also the RF wheel bearing was loose. I have had a lot of work done and spent well over three thousand dollars with this company and I will never go to them again. I was told by an employee there that because my car is too old that the new manger there will not work on my car or allow anyone to work on it. I am truly upset with the customer service they give and the work they did on my car was not up to the Pep Boys standard. I'm now having to repair some of the work pep boys already did. The only person there that is good is devin because he is the only mechanic willing to work on my car there now. I will be going to Christian Brothers from now on. I included pictures Christian Automotive sent me of the parts that pep boys "fixed." Also have to another wheel alignment.... Update on my case: I took my vehicle to the local VW dealership. They confirmed the oil pan threading had indeed been stripped during the last Pep Boys oil change. My issue was with the integrity or lack there of on the part of the staff who worked on my car. They tried to Jerry rig a fix to stop the leak that did not work without informing me, the customer, that a mistake had taken place. I contacted corporate Pep Boys twice and after my second call and email the Area Director was informed and contacted me about my vehicle. The Area Director, assured me my car would be repaired at no cost to me.....I requested original VW parts vice after market because I've had issues with after market quality in the past. Pep Boys then requested to do the repairs so as to save on labor and they would have their Master Mechanic complete the job. I don't have any oil leaking in my driveway anymore after 1 day but when I had my car inspected the mechanic pointed out the oil pan cover was not installed properly but rather zip tied in place. Attention to detail in the small things will go a long ways for big issues/repairs. I am going to have the dealer fix this problem to bring the car back to original VW specifications. I thank the Pep Boys team at the store and the Area Director for addressing my issue and fixing the damage. Pep Boys additionally refunded my diagnostic charges from VW for the initial damages and I'm appreciative of that....Bottom line is the customer should not have to feel like they must check the checker after automotive repairs so Pep Boys needs to work diligently to improve in this regard. read more

On Monday morning my car wouldn't start I call road side assistance for a jump and brought my car to PEP Boys on Dacula I explained my car wouldn't start and road side assistance gave me a jump so I think it's the battery however the maintenance light is on and I believe my tires need air. He went to check my car and came back saying how horrible my tires are and I need new tires!!! These are my tire although not new this still have life in them and don't need to be changed. I said go ahead with the battery since he said the battery was dead. Now on Wednesday the car won't start I called PeP boys and the same guys answers with he condescending tone. That I asked for a battery therefore they put in a battery. I'm like WTH if I came and said check it shouldn't you check the reasons my car won't start . And why is it not starting now his response is I don't know maybe it's from a phone charger or the cold !!! After another road sides assistance jump I brought the car to a mechanic which informed me that the battery was bad! I returned to Pep boys and after two hours of waiting I was informed they did not have the battery in stock and will wait another hour for one to arrive, Or I can drive to another location to have them put it in. I think this is ridiculous,Needless to say I was not compensated for my time wasted or offered anything not even an apology. I called made an appointment last Wednesday at 8 AM. Told him doctors appointment 1030 in Athens. OK I get there 740 wait in my car 8 o'clock comes went to the door. The gentleman saw me came out of the shop went into the lobby turned on the lights in the TV, then opened up the door to let me in just to tell me that they didn't have anybody to do my car till 10 AM that did not work. The gentleman said do not see all the cars I have in the parking lot I have people out with Covid. I understand times are hard. I work retail, so I know the deal with employees we said appointments. If we can't make them, we call and cancel them not one phone call called their customer service. I was supposed to receive a call from somebody and still have not yet. I do not recommend them I took a older car there. They told me that that car so old it should Drive by itself it was mine it was paid for OK so I got a new vehicle and now I'm taking that there when I finally got an oil change they told me whoever did the oil change before then put all the screws back in the skid plate, bad service bad service. read more

My issue is about 1 month later, I noticed my wheel locks on all four of my wheels along with the key needed to unlock them was missing which was inside the car. If i could rate this place -5 stars, I would. !!!!!!!!DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!! Were do I even start. I will NEVER EVER EVER get ANYTHING done by a Pep Boys shop EVER in my life again, and i'm only 20. Especially not from this weak, unprofessional location. I went for a simple, elementary school oil change. I risked my life even going to get my oil changed during this Coronavirus taking place ( that was my own risk, understood) but then the fact that i had to go in the next day and be in the car with a tow truck driver and going back into the shop means that THEY PUT MY HEALTH AT RISK!!! They didn't put the screw(s) back on the cover on the engine, the screw was placed on it, as through someone was like "oh yeah ill get to that later" and NEVER did. To place the oil filter in you have to move the coolant reservoir out of the way. THEY DID NOT PLUG BACK IN MY ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TO MY COOLANT RESERVOIR which could of caused my car to over heat and engine to blow !!!!!!. They took ALL DAY to fix my car and when i picked it up it was closing time so i couldn't take it back in. Half way home after picking up my car my car beeped and said the coolant was low and i need to stop my car and check it NOW. I looked and there was absolutely NO COOLANT in my car and the inch that was left in there was nasty and DIRTY. I JUST replaced this reservoir!!!!!!!! This idiot on the phone is going to tell me, "If it was low THEY would have noticed and fixed it". AGAIN another man thinking they know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING and can never be wrong about S@%! As Soon as i popped my hood i noticed everything that they did wrong because it was VERY noticeable, a blind dog could of pointed it out, no joke. I called at 9 am ( because i wanted my car seen before this terrible rain and possible tornado happened today I DIDN'T WANT TO BE IN THE RAIN AND GET WET, i waited 5+ hours. Their online said ETA 11:15-11:30, but one wasn't coming till 2 pm) as i told them that i WILL need my car towed to their place to fix their mistakessssssss they made it seem like they were doing me a favor for the serous mistake they made. And when i asked for a refund on my money the same idiot said " we can tow it back here, and give you a discount on the next time you come in" Why TF would i want to come back???? are you slow??? must be! He said "oh yeah you know, it was just a simple mistake" a SIMPLE mistake wouldn't of caused my car to over heat or blow an engine. y'all not placing the cover properly over my engine is a SIMPLE mistake. I called corporate and they DEFINITELY agree with me and the man i talked to was more useful then EVERY worker in that shop HANDS DOWN. This particular store's service is horrible. Something is screwed up in scheduling either locally or their website. A simple oil change took and hour and a half. Whenever I am here, I'm always educated on what's going on with my Sonata. I've had all my oil changes and tire replacements done at this location. The team here is always friendly and willing to help me save when things become costly. I prefer to take my car to the same location, that way should something go wrong, I can bring the car back and let them know what happen. Plus, it helps that this location is only a mile from my house and theirs a Dunkin Donuts right next door to it. read more

This place was absolutely the worst. First the guy working at the front counter was a jerk and was very rude and unwelcoming. He told me it would be one hour for the oil change at 5pm. I was sitting in the lobby airing which it clearly said on my ticket and I was one of 2 cars there. I did not see my car go up on the lift until 6pm. At this time, my car was the only one there. I stopped by to have my tire pressure leveled out in two tires the other day and asked if I could do it myself. The manager was so rude and condescending with his reply of, "park you vehicle out front, bring us the keys and we'll get to your car in 10 to 20 minutes". Are you kidding me? To inflate two tires with less than 4psi of air to the specified psi amout to make my dash sensor turn off, 10 to 20 minutes. As a former auto shop tech and emission tester I take insult to this type of customer service. So I went to auto zone, bought. $2.99 tire gauge drove to quicktrip and did it myself. Having had the Pep Boys on Candler Rd. in Decatur put 3 different sized tires on my car in college, it took me 16 years to step foot into another Pep Boys. I am now married and living in Dacula so I thought I'd give them a try since they just opened. At 10 am I called and made an appointment for a 3pm oil change. I arrived at 2:45pm. By 4pm my car was still sitting where I parked it. The tech came to the waiting area a few minutes after 4pm and asked me if I had difficulty opening the car door. I said "no." Come to find out, they had the wrong Honda. This place needs to get it together before I give them my business. I left annoyed and unserviced.
