had my 2026 Tesla model Y towed here for a new rear tire. They ordered a tire and it was supposed to show up after the weekend and be put on Monday afternoon. I was not informed of when just afternoon. I never received a call, so I waited to almost closing time, then reached out just be put on hold, called back and then they said try again tomorrow. I asked what the holdup was but no answer was provided. I was told early next day if truck does not show up they would let me know. Next day same thing no communication. I had it towed back out of there to discount tire where the tire was in stock and put on the car same day. Not going to go back ever! read more

I just had my last issue with Pep Boys after having used them exclusively for both our cars since they opened. My wife has a 2005 Jaguar XJ8 that they have worked on for years (they are Ford parts). The engine light came on, which is a repeat issue from what they fixed a year ago. The counter guy said they're really busy and he wouldn't even be able to see if the diagnostic machine works on it until Tuesday. I told him that was fine since they had done exactly that in the past. I was planning on leaving it. He said I couldn't leave it because they don't have room (in their 1/2 empty parking lot. I really want to like this place but i hate feeling ripped off. I had a flat and knew one other tire was worn, so my husband spoke over the phone and they said they would do two tires. He dropped me off.One tire I had just purchase last year. So Kyle comes out and tells me now I need 4 new ties and he only has 3 of the ones on sale when the guys yesterday said he had plenty of those in stock as they are popular and on sale. So I can wait 4 hours for them to go grab a 3rd tire of I can pay only like 10.00 more for the new better tires. Thats 40 more.Then when it all done a 200.00 job turns out to be over 500.00 but they gave me the military discount so I am down to 450.00.when I get home I see all these hidden fees like 30.00 per tire to align them and balance them and then a fee to put them on for 120.00. I was going to bring my husband's car in next week for new tires but I think I will shop around. When purchasing new tires, one should not have to also pay to put them on and then pay. Again to balance them.that's part of customer service. I also sat and waited for all this at the tune of 3 hours when my car was up on the lifter already when I got there. Some businesses really need to know repeat customers keep a business going but when a town like lake Wylie has like 6 tire places, they need to do better read more

I had the overall displeasure of visiting this location on 11/24/24. Beginning from the start I was driving down the road and noticed something was wrong with my tire and pulled over to check and realized I had a flat, and that I also didn't have the tools I needed in order to fix it myself. Leading to the use of a temporary fix and attempt to take a 5 minute drive to the nearest tire shop (this location) From the start I was greeted with horrible customer service from Jimmy as I asked him if he would be able to take a look at my tire for me to which he responded "No" and I asked him to elaborate. He told me that since he had only one tech in the shop with him, that they wouldn't be able to get to my car. Mind you, all of this was around 4PM approximately 2 hours before close, and they only had one car in their shop at my time of visit. He also spoke to me in a very rude tone as if he didn't care about my problem and told me to "come back tomorrow" as if my tire wasn't flat and needed a fix then. Overall I was treated with zero compassion or customer service skills and would never recommend this location if you or your loved ones are having an emergency. I ended up having to call family to fix my flat tire right in front of a tire shop myself! Very poor service. I had them perform TWO oil changes on two separate vehicles of mine. When my wife drove her vehicle home she noticed a loud scratching coming from underneath the vehicle. Upon pulling over to the side of the road, we noticed that PeoBoys did not secure her oil pan or heat shield. The vehicle then had to be towed causing a major inconvenience. For some reason the service at this location has gone down hill and is not the same as it used to be. Very disappointed in that this is not how PepBoys typically operates. read more

These guys are awesome! With Daryl leading the pack, these guys are friendly, efficient, and absolutely believe in customer satisfaction. They try to help you find the best deal and they won't sell you something that you don't need. In todays world of everyone trying to get something from you, it is really nice to go someplace and trust that you will be treated fairly without double talk. They will show you what's going on with your car, and they will explain it to you if you don't have a great deal of knowledge about cars. It can be hard to get them on the phone, but that's because they are busy taking care of cars and customers. I am happy to say, I have found the mechanics that I fully trust for my car! read more

Booked a 10:30am appointment for an oil change and it took them almost 2 hours to be finished. My quoted time was 45mins to an hour. They tell me that I needed new air filters and the total of everything would've almost $200. I told them I didn't want to change them and that I could do it myself. I had a coupon for the oil change service and apparently it had already been "applied" and my total was $77 but I let them know that I always come here for the SAME service and always pay around $60. The guy proceeded to say "I'll see what I can do" and within a few minutes my total went from $77 to $66. read more

Terrible service! I made an appointment for an oil change a week in advance. They called 2 days ahead and rescheduled since they had 2 mechanics out sick. Ok, I get it, but when I show up for the rescheduled appointment (and had a confirmation email of date and time) and they tell me they can't do the service for 2-3 hours.....not acceptable. This is day 24 of not receiving any escalated communication regarding a refund for my 2019 Nissan kicks that left inoperable on the side of the interstate due to technician negligence. I went in for an oil change and the technician did not put my air filter back into its rightful place. This lead to my air filter sensor malfunctioning and causing my car to spontaneously stop on the interstate. I then had to get my car towed and fixed in order for it be able to drive . I have contacted corporate and the manger at this site and neither party have taken any action towards this situation that their employee caused. Tried giving them business. Called two times yesterday. Tried again today - all three attempts were between Noon and 3pm - the calls were never answered. They must be profitable as heck with wildly huge margins to not have to answer phone calls. I'm envious. And in the wrong business. Tire Rack hooked me up. They're coming to my house (literally, to my driveway) next Wednesday to install 8 tires on two of my vehicles. When the 3rd vehicle needs tires, even if all four tires fall off in front of Pep Boys and my kid's Jeep skids into one of their bays by chance, I will still not use Pep Boys. I'll call AAA to tow it from their bay. Better luck having the Lake Wylie McDonalds ice cream machine operable than Pep Boys answer your call. I went to this Pep Boys location in Clover yesterday and had a horrible experience I feel I should share with the public. I arrived early for my scheduled appointment and explained the issue with my car running weak and heavy vibrations in idle. My engine light was on and I told him I need it off...Kyle said they will run a diagnostic check for $99.00 and after they ran it said as I and the shop expected a Intake sensor. So I agreed to that and a simple tune up and fuel cleaning and about an hour later Kyle came back and said he was sorry he forgot to tell me I needed a needed an ignition coil or my engine light will have to stay on. (So it was something else that the engine light was detecting and I'm already quoted $520.00 or so agreed to the tuneup, fuel cleaner, and sensor and I at that time remembered I probably should ask about oil change and I found a 25% coupon. I went over with Kyle the type of oil I needed and he gave me my final quote of 963.00 dollars and some change. (After added oil change and ignition coil...So I'm there 4 1/2 hours and he came out and said my car was ready. The bill was over a thousand dollars and I wondered why it went up but I just paid it and went to my car looking over the receipt and noticed it didn't mention an oil change so I went back into the 'Pep Boys' store and asked Kyle about the oil change. He looked at me and said, "We didn't decide on the oil change so I didn't do it". ..I just looked at him and started to remind him of our conversation and he stopped me and apologized and said I'm sorry we will have it done in 20 minutes I swear. I was there for two more hours until finally I was able to drive away but not after Kyle charged me again for the oil change after he had already quoted me earlier with oil change including. So he charged me separately and even said he couldn't give me the coupon price because 'it' (whatever that means) wouldn't 'let him do it'. So my final bill got upped again. He kept saying,"the next time I'll hook you up, I promise" After being there 6 and a half hours I was just ready to get out of there. Went to my car looked up in the corner to see my renewed oil sticker and guess what it was not there. I don't know. I feel I got robbed today. $1022.00 and terrible service.and still not sure I got that oil change. But I sure got a maxed out Credit Card. My wife had her oil changed at another company on Saturday morning and by the time we realized it was leaking oil the company that did the oil change was closed. We called Pep Boys at 5:25 pm to see if they could help us. They closed at 6 pm and we were 25 minutes away but Todd said he would wait on my wife to get there. Her car was 2 qts low and had oil everywhere. Todd and his staff topped off the oil, tightened the oil filter and cleaned off all the oil on the house! Plus Todd said if we had anymore problems to come back on Sunday and he would do what he could to help us and not charge us. A big thank you to Todd and his staff for taking care of my wife and her car! Not many companies would be willing to go out of their way, let alone do it for free when it was past closing time on a Saturday! This is by far the worse auto repair shop I've ever encountered. I've received horrible and absurdly ridiculous errors in the actual auto repair and failed attempts by three manager regimes to recover my business. First was simple oil change, new tires, and alignment. They didn't actually top off the oil. My oil light came on less than 50 miles after the oil change. They left the hub caps in my back seat after the new tires. They actually never tested the drive after service. The alignment was completely off. I needed to return to the shop less than 3 miles away. Mike was the manager and never reached out to us to apologize nor attempt service recovery. I only returned after new management. Todd gained my confidence dealing with a different issue. However, my car continued to leak oil after the service. It took two additional attempts for them to stop the oil leak. This was eventually determined to be caused by stripped threads in the plug, caused by the shop. After 50 miles and $1,400 bill, the original issue was never fixed. Todd promised to fix it at no cost. When I returned, he was replaced with a new manager. I also found a screw driver left by the repairman under my hood. I drove over 2,000 miles with that screw driver. Only good fortune prevented serious damage. John is the manager with this third regime. Again, he apologized and attempted service recovery. He was confident in the actual issue with my car. We set the appointment when HE was available. He promised to asses and resolve the issue by noon. When I called at 5:00 pm, he wasn't present and never looked at the car. I verbally stated how I was livid and fed up with this third manager regime at Pep Boys Clover, SC. The new assistant manager didn't deserve my anger. I told him to tell John. John very clearly knows they missed this service. You'd think he or someone from Pep Boys would call me to apologize or attempt to fix it. Nope. No one called. Hence, I'm writing this review. I highly suggest everyone to avoid Pep Boys in Clover, SC. read more
