They fixed the problem and didn't take forever to do it. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the parts were way overpriced, double what I could get them for myself. I'm sure bringing your own parts is possible, but I'm also pretty sure that it will affect the service warranty, so it's a kind of rock and hard place situation. All in all, my truck works again and I would probably go back, but I might bring my own parts next time. read more

Greg was friendly and knowledgeable... he answered the phone right away when I called to find out if they had time to change my oil and how much it would be... they did have time around 3 that day and I made an appointment to come in at that time. I got there a little early and although they seemed somewhat busy they were able to start on my service right on time. The person that actually did my oil change (I can't for the life of me remember his name) was also very friendly and knowledgeable and communicated a few things that I need to get done in the near future... I knew I needed tires and he confirmed that... I'll definitely return to this location for any and all of my future car repairs and maintenance! read more

I have been coming here for about a year. Over that year I've had oil changes for two different cars, a new set of tires, some brakes and a couple of misc issues. Mike is the lead mechanic here and he is a humble but great guy. Between him and Ernie, they have taken care of all of my auto issues, and when they haven't found any thing wrong with my car they didn't charge me for their time. These guy have been very honest, fair with their prices and generous with their time. They take the time to remember your name when you return and they don't try to convince you to do any work you don't need done. I highly recommend these guys if you live in Matthews and are looking for reliable mechanics. I will add that it seems there were some different guys running this place in the past. Don't let the reviews you might find from a couple of years ago influence your opinion. The guys there now do a great job. read more

I took my car to get checked because my breaks were making noise. After the diagnostic check I was quoted over a thousand dollars for breaks and rotors and a sway link bar they said I need to replace . I said I'll do the back because that's all the noise I heard but changed my mind because the price didn't sound right to me. (Took me no longer than 2 mins to think about that) The guy told me I would be charged to mail a part back because they were 'halfway done'. I knew that was a lie because I was watching the guy the whole time he never even took a new part out. The guy at the front desk told me I would not get my car back even after I'm reading him their policies from online and the paper he gave me. Even after I told him I'm going to call the cops. (Because at that point I felt they weren't living up to their policies and were keeping my car hostage) He was very rude and condescending. I had to go out to the mechanic to record and trick him by asking what he did so far In order for them to release my car. He told me he never took out a new part. So the guy at the front desk lied just to get my money. I wouldn't trust this place. I went to another mechanic & spent less than half of what they were charging . My mechanic also told me there is nothing wrong with my sway link bar. If you're looking for an honest mechanic go to the car Doc. I don't know if it's because I'm a female or a poc. But I would never recommend Midas on E Independence . The next day I noticed a little slice in my front right tire also . So I guess they were mad . I know it wasn't there prior to me bringing my car to them because I inspected my tires as soon as I heard that weird nose. I thought something might of been stuck in them. I also put air the day before so I would of noticed smh. Disappointed! I would give 0 stars if I could read more

I don't know anything about car repair, but Midas knows very well how to use my lack of knowledge to their advantage. I called saying I needed my breaks looked at, was quoted $170...sounded great. I ended up paying close to $600. Midas needs to be more upfront about the charges, it turns out $170 was new break pads for just 1 of the axles...so after the charge for the other axle, some other charges, than a few other charges, it came to $600. Very poor, bordering on scammer practices, for an established company. read more

I had rear brakes and drums replaced and not even a month later, they are covered with rust. I called the shop on Independence where the work was done(spent almost $1, 000.00) and was told by Brian that there was nothing that could be done about the rust. This place is a RIP OFF!!! TURN ROUND and go somewhere else.!! MY care shakes when I stop as if it were never aligned and honestly, it drives as badly or worst since I had the work done there. I hope their corporate office reads this because I am not a happy customer and will never refer anyone to that shop. read more

I went to Midas for a brake job because of the name and the price was less then the competition. They did the work everything was fine except less then 20,000 miles and one year later I need another brake job. This time I need rotors and they cannot explain why I went 60,000 mile on the last brakes and I'm at 20k after their brake job. I ask if something else was wrong that would cause the brakes to wear and they said no. What it boils down to is Midas uses inferior parts with a warranty that doesn't cover labor. I asked why they knowingly use inferior part and all management would say that all they do is install parts. Don't use Midas or if you do expect to see them every year. read more

Arrived at the Midas Independence location and was given an estimate of 45 minutes to complete my repair. I finally left more than 2 hours later, but that is not my primary complaint. Not once during this entire time was I updated on my repairs or given a reason for the delay. While I was in the waiting room, the mechanic working on my car became so irate and infuriated that he began cussing in a VERY loud manner and every other word was the "F word." He may as well have been standing in the waiting room because he was loud enough those of us there looked at each other in disbelief. Disbelief for two reasons: first, that he felt he needed to take out his frustration by cursing loud enough for people in downtown Matthews to hear him, and secondly, the fact that the Manager never once told him to lower his voice or to take his frustrations outside. I'd have fired that mechanic on the spot and apologized to the customer that they were unable to complete repairs on his car. At a minimum, I would have seen to it that the customer received a discount for his troubles. None of these happened. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Midas in Matthews. read more

I was told by Scott Clark Honda that I needed breaks and that my vehicle would not pass the state inspection. I took it to Midas on Independence Blvd and what a shocker...brakes are fine! Excellent customer service, and efficiency!! MADE my experience! I stopped in for an oil change and some concerns I had with a noise in my left front wheel area the other day. Honestly I was already having a bad day, and the experience from the moment I walked into the Door from the genuine interaction with Mike, to the efficiency, thoroughness, and follow up from the team was so noticeably different, that I would drive out of my way to return to them for any further vehicle needs I have. They always say it is hard to find a good mechanic that you trust , which is especially true if you know nothing about cars and tend to give everybody the benefit of the doubt. I owned a Toyota 4 Runner prior to my current Highlander so I have always used the Toyota dealers to service and maintain my car. I had this hang up about going to the dealer even though I know their prices were higher than many places. But due to recent changes in my finance situation, I started shopping around and came across Midas on Independence Blvd. Now, let me say the owner Mike is not the friendliest guy because he does not smile or engage too much (he's not rude by any means) but the importantly thing is . . . he seems really honest to myself and my boyfriend, who has taken his car there on several different occasions. I have also noticed several times going in there that customers call him by his first name and they seem to be regulars. It started off with Toyota having a few recommendations for me that I thought may not be necessary and too expensive. So with those recommendations, I called around several places asking for pricing. This particular Midas was the most reasonable and told me that I really did not need a fuel injection service (which was consistent with what I read on line -- I guess he could have done it and made more money off me but he didn't). I recently took my car in because it was making noise when I drove over 40 miles and Mike looked at it without charging me (the Toyota Dealer wanted to charge me $89.99 just to take a look at it). He tentatively diagnosed it and referred me to another decent transmission place which confirmed the problem Mike thought it was. I would recommend this place to my family and friends. So far so good (fingers crossed). read more

Was quoted over the phone $1,000 to replace the catalytic converter on my '03 cavalier. I was told the part alone was $900+ which is a joke, they range from $100-$400 from multiple online sources. Is it plated in gold? Does it spew gold flakes out of my tailpipe? I'm just going to assume that I was taken as a naive little girl who didn't know a thing about cars. Auto Experts? Really these guys are the most unprofessional and unfriendly bunch of people I have every come in contact with. I take my vehicle in to replace a muffler and was on my way well about a hour later the muffler starts to rattle and rub on the support beam underneath the car. I call and advise them of the problem they tell me to bring it in so I say no problem. When I arrive I ask them what it could be and they say nothing blank stare like I have a thrid eye. I wait patiently for about 20 minutes and come back to see if they know what was wrong and ask again he ignores me. I wait in the waiting room and look out and the same guy I was asking what was wrong is talking to the other guy moving his hands like puppets mocking me saying blah, blah, blah. I come out and ask him if there is a problem he walks away. Just some dumb idiot wrench monkey with no people skills or customer service I guess. I hope they fixed the porblem an hour and no problem yet. read more

After 10+ years of doing business with this location, I had a problem with the last service and went back to have it taken care of, as the manager Mike told me to. Kevin, sitting at the computer, never acknowledging me, finally told me they never did any of the work on my van that I was saying needed to be looked at. I said it was done, and he asked why I was bringing it there to get them to fix someone else's mistake...of course I left and went elsewhere to get it done and paid for it. I have called the corporate office, and this location for weeks now, trying to get this resolved, and have not heard back from anyone. They don't care how they treat people, and please check your bills to make sure you are paying for the same repair 3 and 4 times, as I did. They seem to only fix part so you have to bring it back again, this is my opinion for the last 3 visits, after going through some paperwork.
