My son's car was sent over to this Pep Boys location from the auto-body shop was at because there was a leak in the air conditioner. My son picked up his car last night and while driving the car the high temperature light came on and the same light was on today when he drove to work . He started to drive home from work and the light was still on and defroster was not working so he was not able to drive the car safely as it was raining. He moved the temperature from a/c to heat and it was blowing out cold air, so cold that he could see his breath. Now we had to have it towed to another shop as I would NEVER go back or recommend this PepBoys. When I called to let the shop manager know he lied to me and said that they just put Freon in the a/c but when I told him that the auto shop that had the part that Pep Boys needed to repair the a/c the shop manager then started to tell me that "well the only piece we put". That was enough for me to hear as he just admitted unknowingly that he lied to me. I hung up the phone because he was not going to admit the fact that they screwed up my son's a/c electrical system. They had his car from Saturday early afternoon and if they were just putting Freon on why have it until after 5pm on Monday? I was also told on Saturday when I called that they were trying to find the leak in the a/c so yeah guy get your lies straight !!! read more

I called ahead of time to get a quote for four tires on the rim and out the door for my 2011 Honda Insight. I paid 75 dollars to get my car towed. Once there, I confirmed the price again. When I picked the car, they raised the price by $200!! When I asked them and proved the original quote, they called The IT department. After a considerable wait time, they ultimately honored the original price. I will say that they answer he phones. My car was in the shop and on the rack quickly. The employees seem very talented and did provide great customer service and honored the price. Overall a great experience. read more

One of the worst customer service experience of my life. Can't believe I have to even give one star. I went online, created a full account with all of my contact info, made an appointment with the scheduling tool, showed up and was told they were too busy for my appointment. Shocked I said "What do you mean? I signed up online." The man said, as if I was stupid, "we are too busy to handle your car and we cancelled your appointment. That's what we have to do when we are busy." I didn't even know how to respond other than to say "why didn't you call me?" He said "We didn't have your phone number. We sent you an email." I pull out my phone and not only is there no email from them, my account info in the app shows my phone number listed. The manager was rude, unprofessional and didn't care about me as a customer. The main Pep Boys office should shut them down and retrain everyone how to act professionally. read more

Pep Boys cancelled my 11am servicing. They didn't leave a voicemail and I have no email notifying me of cancellation. When my wife showed up for the appointment, Ricky, was extremely rude to her and let her know it was her fault for not answering the phone when he called. He also refused to tell her how long it would take to replace her tire. He only would state that it would take "some hours". I called and spoke with Ricky. I told him that not leaving a voicemail is unacceptable. I also needed him to better define "some hours" so that we could make a decision on what to do with our car. Lastly, I told Ricky that the interaction he had with my wife was unacceptable and Pep Boys would be embarrassed at his take on customer service. went to another shop to have them replace a lower control arm and align my car and they were asking for 1400 and a week to do it. i went to pep boys and my appointment was for Sunday but they got it done fridays. they answer the phones and they don't try to get you like most other shops. i would recommend pep boys to anyone read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars. If you only read two paragraphs, read the first and the last I was very frustrated with my service today. Everyone I talked it was grumpy and rude. I called on my way home from work to see if I could just drive in and have my flat tire plugged (or needing a new one)-they said come on in. I've literally been here for over 2 hours, for them to change ONE freaking tire! Clearly it was not a just come on in, quick fix kind of thing, pretty sure I could have done it quicker. Needless to say, it was not plugable. We stood waiting to check out at the counter, with 2 people piddling around behind the counter....credit card in hand, and we stood waiting to pay for over 15 minutes before we finally sat back down. I have a Prius, and once the car was done, they had 3 guys standing around the car trying to figure out how to get "every alert on the dash" (exactly what they said) to stop lighting up. I had to call my Toyota dealership because I was afraid of them possibly disabling things that shouldn't be, just to clear the alerts, or having alerts that won't go away, and I wouldn't know what is real. Also, the guy who drove the cars in and out of the service bay, like a bat outta hell. Tires squealing, flying through the parking lot. I was afraid as a bystander to be a pedestrian in the area, and as a customer that he was driving their customers vehicles around like that. The trauma nurse in my cringed. Absolutely ridiculous. Finally when it was done, they didn't even come get us in the customer lounge, we walked up and they're like "oh it's been done", really, I just got done pulling 3 12 hour night shifts, the last thing I want to do is spend my sleeping time in your crappy lounge. The worst part???? I get in my car, they put in one on MY CDs from my cd case. You don't need the radio to change a tire, and you sure as hell don't put my cd in. I feel very violated. I would consider it inappropriate to change my radio station, let alone go through my things, and put a cd in and play it like it's yours. read more

Soooo disappointed in Pep Boys. I have been getting repairs by them for my last 2 cars. I had over $300 work done 2 weeks ago. One was a tire repair. In the past, they have repaired or replaced tires free or for a small amount because my tires were purchased from them. The tire repair completed 1 weeks ago is already low. I called to get it looked at and was told, "no repair shop in the city guarantees tire repair, you need to buy a new tire". When I explained it was purchased from them I was told, "we dont guarentee tires". I guess I was imagining the 3 times they did guarantee them. read more

I have had several good experiences at this location. I like to take care of my vehicles not only making sure they run good now but will continue to. If you go ask for Danny, he's a mananger and is always so helpfull & willing to take the time to make sure you'll get what you need & will even suggest things you might not have heard of and didn't know about. They have a rewards program and always have good coupons and rebates. For those reasons Peb Boys on Glenway has & will keep my business. read more

The store manager here sold me a set of Cooper tires for my six speed Mazda when I usually spend around $600 on Michelin. I thought I'd regret spending less (never be cheap with your tires) but he saved me $200, 4 MPG and they're so much quieter! Stopped in for a replacement bulb for a tail light. The guys were especially nice and helpful. They even replaced the bulbs since I didn't have the necessary tools on hand to do the job in the parking lot. Nice guys, great service. Lying, dishonest, scum. I had to replace catalytic converters on my truck (2004 Nissan Frontier). I bought the parts online and Pep Boys said they'd put them on for around $300 labor. A little bit later I ended up taking the truck to another shop for a different reason and that guy asked me to come with him, and walked me into the bay where my truck was on a lift. Under the truck he reaches up to the catalytic converters where they met the manifold and said "watch this", before jiggling the bolts around with his fingers, and then pointing out that there was no gasket on either (that had been included with the part I'd had installed). I went back to Pep Boys and they told me that there was a part which was supposed to go between the converters and the manifold, which they'd offered me, but I'd declined. They did not offer to install this for me, because I'd gotten a Pep Boys card purely to pay for this and had enough money on it to have paid for it, so why would I decline? Also, the guy couldn't explain why this recommended part was NOT on my receipt under the "recommended work" section either. But hey, screw me, right? So I took the truck to a muffler shop which employed people who actually knew what they were doing, and they explained that there wasn't another part that goes between the converters and the manifold, I was just lucky and had a truck which required some custom welding to get it to fit correctly. They fixed it and put a gasket on for me. So, I paid Pep Boys $300 to mess up my truck, they lied about what they told me, they lied about what was required to fix the truck, and then I had to pay someone else to do the job that I'd paid Pep Boys to do in the first place. Don't spend any money there, not even to buy a soda from their shop. read more

I would like give praise to the personnel who work at the Western Hills store in Cincinnati Ohio (store 288) The customer service that I received from Scott Stuhlfauth and Isaac Graham was above and beyond what would be expected. They performed the work at a fair cost without trying to sell me parts and services that I did not wish to have done to my vehicle. Thank you for a job well done. I went in to get an inspection because my tire/ front end was vibrating. They found the problem with my tire but on further review they found problems with my suspension. They told me what I NEEDED to fix immediately and what could WAIT because I informed them I was going on vacation and would be driving a long distance. Time and time again this pep boys location continues to impress me and makes me feel like I'm not getting taken advantage of! The staff is very friendly and courteous but most of all knowledgeable of your automotive needs! From the manager to the technicians this stores staff is not short of amazing! A couple of weeks ago, I had an appointment to have my car checked because the gear shift had been sticking. I took the car in, I was 10 minutes late. Apparently they have a 5 minute rule (this is what I was told when I arrived) and that I had to wait. I agreed to wait and asked for an estimate waiting time. Again I agreed to wait. The young man at the desk then preceded to ask me questions about what the car was doing and told me how much a diagnostic test would cost. I was fine with that. When I said that the shift hadn't been stuck for two days, he said that I should bring it back when it started acting up as they have no way of finding the problem until then. Really??? I was willing to pay for the diagnostic test!! He told me to bring it back another time. Wow. NEVER will I go back to Pep boys. This particular young man was rather rude to boot. read more

This Pep Boys not only ripped me off by installing a bad starter in my car - but they treated me horribly!! After they installed a bad starter, I gave them an opportunity to simply fix the car and just put in working parts that I had paid for - but instead of even checking the part they had recently installed - they insisted that I should buy a brand new battery!! AND that they would sell me only the most expensive battery at no installation fee - any other the installation fee would be added to be more than the most expensive battery!! I took my car to another mechanic and got proof that the starter was bad - but even when I went back for a refund the service manager argued that he had every right to not inspect the starter they had just installed when I first brought it in after it had a problem unless I paid for a new battery - so according to him they had done nothing wrong - and the amount they refunded me reflected this flippant attitude! Because of the lack of service I received at this store, I had to call for a tow on three separate occasions - the first time I was in Maryland on a trip I had mentioned I was taking when I picked up the car! Also - I paid a $90 inspection fee - and they didn't do a a lot of the things on their check list - or if they did they must have done them wrong according to the other mechanic I took it to! I really don't know what is worse - the fact they put a bad part in my car - or the way I was treated following the initial error! Either way NEVER, EVER allow this Pep Boys to work on your car!! read more

My daughters' car would not start and with me being 165 miles away, I thought the best solution would be to have a local shop check it out to see what was wrong. The closest repair location was Peb Boys on Glenway Avenue in Cincinnati. The vehicle was towed to Pep Boys and after I agreed to the $89.99 inspection fee, Pep Boys did a diagnostic on the vehicle and determined that it needed a complete engine replacement at an estimated cost of $4,866.52. Verbally, I was told that the engine would not start due to low compression in three of the four cylinders. Since the vehicle is 9 years old, I decided to rent a trailer and bring the vehicle to a local shop in Ottawa, Ohio for a second opinion. I traveled to Pep Boys, paid my bill and then went to load the vehicle onto my trailer. Surprisingly, I was able to start the vehicle after turning it over for about 20 seconds. A little longer than is customary, but not bad for an engine that was totaled. I was able to drive the car onto the trailer under its own power without any difficulty. When I arrived in Ottawa, I again started the vehicle (this time in less than 2 seconds) and drove the vehicle around the block and parked it in front of the repair shop. The following day, the local shop informed me that the vehicle repair was complete, with the main issue being a defective O2 sensor. They theorized that perhaps the engine was flooded when checked at Pep Boys, and the excess gas vapor may have caused low compression readings when checked at Pep Boys. In any event, there was not issue with the compression in any cylinders when they checked it and the engine was in good condition. Repair cost was less than $300.00. My cost to retrieve the vehicle was over $500, including trailer rental, a day off work and driving 330 miles round trip. I do not know how a $300.00 repair justified a complete engine replacement, but I will not be doing business with Pep Boys anytime in the future. read more

This place is a joke. I see the commercials on T.V. so i stop in to my neighbor hood location only to be told i have to wait two or three hours for a oil change that only takes 15 to 30min. Went back a week later to schedule appointment for oil change and getting a light bulb replaced and was told the service would be about $75 dollars with the oil change and a electric evaluation. Since the light bulb works sometimes and not other they wanted to charge me $45 dollars on top of a $32 dollar oil change thats $24 dollars on line. These guys are bait and swithch experts. I would give 0 stars if possible. This is the second time I have been there and have had horrible service! They tried to jack up the quote $100 on a part after i had my vehicle towed there. Then they wouldn't honor the coupon because they discounted the part due to their mistake. I finally get my vehicle way after it was promised and the wheel almost fell off on the way home!!! It was making a terrible racket after 10 miles or so so I pulled over and was able to finger tighten EVERY lug on my wheel! They called me a liar and gave me the run around. Now the part failed six months later and they say that it isnt the same wheel hub that they replaced six months ago because it looks rusty!! Both of them look rusty!!! I asked them to pull part to compare and they refused and said they would only do it if I paid them to! The assistant manager talked down to me the whole time and called me a Do not do business with them!!!! read more

After dropping car off and leaving get a call telling me they cant honor that and would have to charge me full price. I think that is the worst customer service I have ever had. WOMEN BEWARE.....They charge for services not agreed upon. It was raining and the window on my wife's van would not roll up. Since Pep Boys was close she stopped to have them check it out. They stated it would be $44 to check it out. They didn't have the part in stock so they bolted the window up. When she checked out they charged $185. (Mind you the part is only $80 at the store). They did not install any parts nor did they say they would charge $110 an hour to look at the window. She was there less that an hour yet the charge was for 1.4 hours. Where do they come up with $110 p/h, my mechanic only charges $60. They never removed or install the part since it was not in stock yet they charged her as if they installed one. She only agreed to the $44 eval charge not to the $185. Service and Store manager were not helpful nor did they give a reasonable explanation for the charge. My wife feels like she was taken advantage of since she was a women. Update,,,, Guess it helps to fill out those surveys on the receipts. The staff is so undertrained and ignorant that a trip here for anything other then tires or a bulb replacement would be a big mistake. I was sucked in by 0% interest credit and a promise they had someone qualified to perform the work I needed. When I picked up my car it didn't run, stalled and caused me to miss a holiday with my family. It took a very expensive trip to the dealership to find the problem. I should have known when they were writing me up and recommend new tires and a rotation. They had just put tires on it one month earlier and my car is notorious for not needing or recommending rotation. They offered excuse after excuse nothing really that would explain what turned out to be just sloppy and ignorant mechanic work. At my last attempt to resolve the problem I came out of the shop with a really deep scratch in my fender for the cherry on top. read more

I was in this store buying a few parts on Sunday August 2 2015. The young gentleman at the parts counter was very moody and unapproachable. I was actually surprised he looked up and brought me the correct part. I asked him what the oil special was for the month and his answer was "I don't know. Look for a sign." He did walk over to the oil section with me and pointed out the "Synthetic Oil" was on sale for $34.99, and walked away. (My car takes standard oil so why would he point me in the direction of Synthetic?) Being a former employee of Pepboys, I found the oil special and looked up my own oil filter. The guy at the parts counter whose name started with "D" seemed as if he didn't want to be bothered, as if he was having a bad day and looked very unhappy about being at work. I've NEVER experienced this type of attitude at any Pepboys or any other automotive parts establishments for that matter. If it wasn't for my coupon, I probably would had left. Thanks the the young man Grant, he made up for the terrible customer service I was experiencing. He was friendly knowledgeable and apologized for the guys attitude at the parts counter. Joel what type of people are you hiring now a days? (lol) "D" or whatever his name is can and will hurt your business. He did not display the knowledgeable, courtesy and go the extra mile attitude that all other Pepboys employees do.
