I just had the worst experience here that I've ever had at any repair shop. I purchased 4 new tires and when I went to pick up my vehicle and was driving home, I noticed that one of the tires was losing air. I was unable to bring the car back that night so I arranged to bring it in the next morning. Of course I was pissed because how do you spend 500+ dollars on new tires and have one of them leaking on the way home. Even though I was already inconvenienced with a second trip to pep boys to fix a tire that shouldn't have been messed up to begin with, they still made me wait TWO AND A HALF HOURS FOR ANOTHER REPAIR! Mind you, I was in a line of 3 people when the store OPENED THAT DAY at 9 am on the dot. Apparently they took everyone else's car before mine even though they knew I was returning to have their mistake fixed. I still didn't complain while waiting and was patient. After the work was "completed" and I went home, 2 hours later the tire was going flat again!! At this point my husband and I were both fuming and he had to make a 3RD TRIP to pep boys, while sick, to demand that the tire be fixed correctly. While on his way, I had to call the store 10 times to speak with a manager because no one even bothers to answer the phone in the service department. Once he got there and got loud with them, suddenly my tire was magically fixed in 45 minutes...and this was after I had already had 2 heated discussions with them previously over this. Apparently they only respect an angry man and not the woman who waited 2 1/2 hours there in the morning on my 2nd trip. Not to mention they also tried to claim I needed about a thousand dollars worth of additional work on the car. My car is only a few years old and doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it. It seems to be a pattern of them claiming people need thousands of dollars in additional work on their cars. Truly an awful experience and I will never go back. Do not go into the store for any repairs! The mechanics don't know their trade! And all the sales people want to do is sell you "Brake Pads and Rotors". I kid you not, if you just listen to the people at the repair desk and what they say to their customer both in person and over the phone... all day long, they just push for new "Brake Pads and Rotors" whether you need them or not! They will mess up your car and then find ways to get you to pay for their repairs. And you will very quickly see that the mechanics don't know their trades. BEWARE!!!!! Took my 2008 Prius here to have the bulbs for the headlights changed. I received a quote for 80, which was fine. After having the car for an hour and a half, I was called to the service desk and told they could not replace without removing the front bumper and the new total would be 417 dollars. For the 12 years that I have owned the car, PEP BOYS has replaced the headlight bulbs many time and never once did the bumper need to be removed to replace the bulb. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Unless you have extra money and hours to waste. GO ANYWHERE ELSE there's tons of little shops in this area you can go to instead. They are LIARS. Told me I needed a whole new tire instead of fixing my flat (which only had a screw in it) because they "inspected my tire and found it to be unfixable." But then my antifreeze was also conveniently low so I go to get my bottle out of my trunk because I'm not about to pay for that bs too and I find my tire in the same position covered the same way as I'd left it. They never even bothered to inspect it or take it out yet, instead they convinced me I needed a brand new one when I didn't. Worst part is that's not even why I came. I needed my DMV inspection which I FAILED because my "check engine light was on." If my check engine light was on and you knew I'd fail due to that the WHY WOULD YOU INSPECT IT? Why not just say, "you're going to fail because your check engine light is on." Now I'm out $37 more dollars. Then give some arbitrary excuse telling me "oh it's the coolant so we refilled it drive 60-70 miles and it'll go off and you can pass." 1. BULLSHIT 2. Great, so come back here right? And pay another $37? And BTW we can run a check on your engine and figure out why your light is on for an extra $150 even though you just failed the inspection over it. Nice people, but CROOKS. the counter guy at the end couldn't even look me in the eye when he was explaining I failed due to my light being on. read more

Pep boys engages in Predatory repair practices. I took my car there for a check engine light that was on. They charged 90.00 to tell me that the problem was something I could have gotten fixed for less than 20.00. I deceived to give them another try a few months later. They again wanted to do a 90.00 diagnostic and afterwards would only agree to repair the vehicle if I consented to a trumped up plethora of other repairs they found wrong; citing, it would be for "my safety". I left right away never to return again in my entire life. I called my daughter who frequents them and I asked her do they engage in these practices where she lives and she told me yes but she didn't realize the extent of how much they will go through to srtong-arm customers into getting unnecessary repairs. I was thinking to contact the attorney general because it doesn't seem legal that would refuse to do part of a service because they feel you would be safer if you spent more getting an entire automobile overhauled when you've only went there for something simple like an oil change. read more

What is the point of promoting buy 3 get 1 free tire when it's not even true. U must also get the installation with it. So technically they are false advertising. U can't just simply buy 3 and get the 4th tire free. Because apparently they lose money......the installation with balancing is almost the same price as the 4th tire or a little bit more. Few days ago went in for a routine inspection and wheel alignment and it seemed relatively slow at this place so I figured the wait time to be decent but I was wrong. It turned into waiting for a couple of hours and trying to track down a manager to explain why I was waiting but there's open bays with techs idling. When I finally did get a manager, she met me with a callous dismisiveness and basically told me to sit tight and deal with it offering no explanation as to why I cant be seen by the free employees there. I eventually took my business elsewhere, I'm not confrontational so I wasn't about to grand stand. I dont know what the dynamic is between management and employees but it cant be anything productive if Im going off the vibe there. One piece of info I did snag was that this manager was Gloria and other friends who've gone there have had similar experiences. The staff is professional and pleasant. However, after purchasing tires for my car and getting them installed I was told a wheel alignment could not be done because I needed front and rear struts, both side front sway bar links and front both side lower control arms. The price quoted for all these parts and labor was a little over $2,400.00. I decided to go to a Toyota Service Dealer to find out if they would confirm what I was told. I did not reveal what was told to me. I simply asked for a wheel alignment. I got the job done and was never told that my car needed repairs. I feel Pepboys was trying to take advantage of me and because of this experience I do not trust their judgement and won't return ever. read more

I spent 9hrs in Pep Boys to have an alternator replaced, only to have a smoking car returned to me. They broke my driver-side door handle before starting work on the alternator, and refused to take responsibility. Then they used what must be an unqualified mechanic to install the alternator. This mechanic even had the audacity to explain the reason it was taking so long as my car's fault; my car was "hard" to install an alternator on. After they got done playing mechanic on my car for a ridiculously long time, I drive less than 10 blocks from PepBoys and smoke is coming from the hood, there's the smell of burnt rubber, a squeaking sound, and the check engine light comes on. Pep Boys told me I needed more work to fix the smoking issue because in their arrogant minds, there couldn't possibly be anything wrong with the alternator installation they had done just the day before. My car never smoked a day in its life, until they touched it! I refused to get the extra work done with them. I went to the Nissan dealership, and lo and behold the alternator was installed incorrectly. I got the issues fixed at Nissan for less than the price of the additional work Pep Boys said I needed. This is not my first bad experience with this Pep Boys, but it sure is the last. Sadly, it's clear that the senior management will do nothing about this location's abysmal service. Reading all these horrible reviews is like a very sad broken record. Even more annoying, is the generic "owner's reply" to these horrible reviews, as if they really care to rectify the situation. If they cared to fix the root of the issues, customers wouldn't continue to leave so many 1 star reviews. I'm just doing my part to get the word out there: Please save yourself the grief and Absolutely Do NOT go to them for any service or repairs. They are imcompetent in all areas of business. read more

I went in to buy touch up paint. The guy in the front searched my car and model and helped me locate the paint. I asked him if it doesn't look like a good match may I return it? The guy said yes! I go in today to return it and another guy tells me no I can't return that it's been used. Lack of communication within staff. The employee who assisted us, Koko (Kquokisha), is the reason I'm giving a favorable rating. She was super sincere, helpful, knowledgeable and tried hard to get us good pricing. She acted like she cared about the service we received and she made sure we weren't "forgotten". Yes, the wait was long, I do think this place is really busy, especially since we were there on a Saturday. I came here twice to do an alignment and my car still didn't get fixed. You really have to watch the mechanics while they "work" on your car to make sure. I wasted time and money here. My alignment was finally fixed at Mavis. Never again with Pepboys. If you do anything other than change oil...don't do it here. I came to Pep Boys after bringing my 2007 CR-V to Honda and having them quote me an astronomical amount for an alternator belt and a new PCV valve. Mikey was my rep and he was fantastic. He was professional, courteous and honest. He asked me questions and advised me to have a checkup done before doing some of the work. Turned out I needed some tire work and wheel alignment done, but no alternator belt. At first I was told that all the work would take a full day because they needed parts. They ended up getting the parts in that day and were able to get the work done by the afternoon. When I came in to get the car, Mikey was there ready with a smile and was able to give some good news as I was able to save some money after all work was completed. Overall I had a fantastic experience and I think Mikey is a fantastic rep. read more

Team was so helpful and knowledgable. My experience started with Ricky. He set me up with a rewards card so I could get my inspection for free. Euris was my mechanic. He was polite and patient with all my questions. After getting a quote from Ricky I explained I wasn't looking to spend that much. He encouraged me to find a coupon on Pepboys website. I ended up waiting longer than expected and he gave me a discount for that. Tim helped me towards the end of my experience. He was the only cashier but he acknowledged everyone waiting in line while he helped who was in front of him. I'll drf be back. Service is way better than the Conner st location. read more

Installs faulty brand new parts. Mechanic doesn't check his work before giving car back to owner which could in itself cause a major accident since it was a full brake job done to my car. replaces parts on 3 different occasions and all parts come up faulty. Work itself by mechanic, doesn't test or drive car to make sure parts work the way they are designed. nearly got into an accident because of it. totally a waste of money and time. smaller shops would probably do better. read more

I made an appointment for 10 a.m. today to have an oil change done on my car. An hour and a half later I was still waiting. When I then asked about the delay, my car was finally taken into the bay for the work to be done. I was informed that the website accepts an "infinite number of reservations" and if "the actual site doesn't confirm via a phone call then it's not an appointment." ??? The Pep Boys website clearly says: "30 minute oil change with appointment". Terrible service and misrepresentation regarding having an "appointment" on their website. read more

My service person was Coco she was very professional and knowledge.Only problem was that I requested for them to check a back light they claimed it was checked & wasn't out, but my friend checked again & indeed it was out. A bit pricey, but the customer service was A+. I initially had my SUV towed in because it was over heating. Denzel was the representative that took personal responsibility for making sure my car was serviced as needed, even when he was not there. He made sure to communicate with his team to ensure I would be satisfied with the repairs done on my car. I appreciated his humble and sincere approach to ensuring everything was done appropriately. I also appreciated Ricky's oversight and helpful managing to ensure the part (which) they didn't have was ordered and ready to be installed on my car. Awesome service! Today was my first time ever using Pep Boys and I must say it was a great experience! I took my car in for a routine oil change as well as brake evaluation. I needed a lot of work done and the service rep, Tim (Guyanese fellow) was really helpful in working with me with the cost of all the work.
