If I can give cero stars I would , This place is horrible. I drove nearly 2 hours in the heat with no A/C to make my appointment, only to be told they couldn't do anything for my car because it was after 4 pm and that I needed to come back the next morning. I made another appointment for 10:00 AM and showed up on time. When I arrived, the person at the front desk told me they wouldn't be able to look at my car until 2:00 PM because they had "over 10 appointments" ahead of me. What's the point of making an appointment if you're not going to honor it? I wasted two trips, hours of driving, gas, and time, all while dealing with a car that has no A/C in the middle of the heat. Very poor customer service and terrible scheduling. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I went to to get my car inspected. I had gone to a Pep Boys Queens last year and my car passed without any repairs. The emissions were fine but this Pep Boys recommended $5000 worth of repairs. This was outrageous. I think because I'm a woman they tried to take advantage. I put my brother on the phone (who is mechanic adjacent) and the mechanic backed down and agreed he wouldn't do the recommended repairs at this place. I subsequently brought my car to another shop and it again passed with flying colors with no repairs recommended. Do not trust and avoid going to this place especially if you want an honest assessment. read more

Absolutely unacceptable. I had an 8:00 AM appointment through Tire Agent to have my new tires installed. I showed up on time, trusted this shop, and ended up wasting almost my entire day. After making me sit there for nearly 10 hours, they finally came out and told me they couldn't do the installation because they didn't have the proper jack or equipment for my van. You're telling me a tire shop doesn't know what equipment it has until the end of the day? That should have been checked the moment I arrived. Instead, they kept me waiting, gave me false hope, and completely wasted my day. The customer service was awful. Nobody communicated honestly. Nobody apologized until the very end. My time clearly meant nothing to them. If they knew they couldn't do the job, they should have told me immediately so I could have gone somewhere else. This wasn't just poor service--it showed a complete lack of respect for customers. I rearranged my entire day around this appointment for nothing. I left with the same tires I arrived with, frustrated, exhausted, and feeling like my time had absolutely no value to anyone in that shop. If you value your time, avoid this Pep Boys location. Employees are cool but scattered. I ordered tires and paid a $200 deposit to hold them. I had to call to ask if they came in. When it was all done I paid full price forgetting that deposit. I realized this mistake and it took weeks to get my money back. Be kind to them and you'll receive the same treatment. But make sure you call and keep tabs on them because they are not proactive. However, Orlando was courteous- sensed my urgency and Justin was sweet and solved my problem in the end. Everyone's demeanor to me was very down to earth despite the frustrations. I had to call to track down everything. They are BUSY but they will make the hill for you if you're not a jerk. read more

Great experience! A tire I ordered online wasn't at the shop...I worried for nothing! Chris, the store manager, tracked down my tire after realizing Fed Ex delivered it to a Pep Boys facility in Queens. The tire was there first thing the next morning and all was well!!! If I could give zero star I would. In April my husband and I drove from Massachusetts to Florida. On the way the cars AC started blowing warm air. When we reached Florida my husband took the car to the Celebration Florida Pepboys. We were told we needed a new compressor. The cost was $1100 and take approximately 3 1/2 hours. He dropped the car off at 8:30 the next day. At around 1:00 they called saying the tensioner needed to be replaced. That cost was another $600. At that point we were already hours after the car should have been finished. At 4:00 my husband took an Uber to the shop. He found out they ordered the wrong part and were waiting on a new one. My husband sat at the shop while I sat in the lobby of the hotel we had checked out of until 9:30 at night! The shop closed at 8:00! We didnt check in to our next resort until almost midnight. Two days later the AC stopped working and the car broke down on I-94. It was towed to the Walt Disney World Car Care center. While there it was determined by the mechanics that the compressor was not only improperly installed but the tensioner belt they used was too small causing the tensioner bolt to snap and the belt fall off. The alternator was unable to charge the battery and it was completely drained. It took days for the shop remove the broken bolt. We were left stranded without a car and forced to move to a new hotel. We missed 5 days from our jobs, had to fill emergency prescriptions and take ubers to get anywhere. We have documentation from the garage, the snapped bolt, the wrong belt, a video of the tensioner flopping around and all of our receipts totaling almost 7000 dollars. After submitting this all to Pepboys ,dealing with multiple people over and over it is 2 1/2 months later and we have received NOTHING from Pepboys. We have everything charged on our credit card and the interest is 29.99! Our car still has no working AC and the heat index in Massachusetts is 110 today. My husband drive 40 mins to and from work sometimes sitting in traffic. He has medical issues including a heart problem. We are struggling to meet the minimum credit card payment and are unable to repair the AC until Pepboys reimburses us. We are continually calling and emailing any numbers and emails we have and still have not had one person help us. EVERY single time I have emailed Rhonda Grant in claims Iget an out of office reply! I mean EVERYTIME! I have all the email responses saved to prove it. The customer service sends a stock email claiming to have escalated to the field leadership team. NEVER EVER use Pepboys unless you want to end up in court! read more

Horrible service. Absolutely no pep to these dudes. They act like they are doing you a favor by rendering services already paid for. I went from being there 1st to an unspecified position in line because dude was so slow and kept answering his phone and talking to some female that kept jumping the line. Even the DMV has updated their systems as to alleviate uncertainty. They are consistently horrible everywhere. I had no choice to to use them as they have a business relationship with online tire vendors to receive and install the tires. Update: been here since opening at 8am, I was the 3rd person in line, it's now 10:41am and counting. If you order from giga-tires and you have to receive them at a Pep Boys, don't. This place is not even busy and this is the experience. Now 11:24pm and I'm finally leaving. Rep has the nerve to say it's like a doctors office. I'm the 3rd person in line since the doors opened and all they did was install the tires and change the oil. And it took almost 3 1/2 hrs and it's not even busy. Everyone in the garage just chilling. I don't know what happened to Pep Boys on Tremont Avenue. it used to be a full service automotive parts and repair facility. it seems they have become just a tire shop. I was very disappointed after using them over many years and receiving great service. I walked out today after they told me it would be a three hour wait to patch a tire. And they no longer even sell things like washer fluid, car cleaning products and many other things I used to purchase there for my car. Needed a battery.. so I called and they said to come in.. So he checked my info for the car, noticed it was a Ford edge and automatically try to tell me that it was not a normal battery removal cause they needed to remove one bolt that holds the battery and remove the fuse box. Which it was the filter box . So he said it would be $180 minimum to swap.. lol thank god they didn't have the battery.. so drove down 1/2 Mile and saw an auto zone. They did it for free. Even after completing business with the customer guy behind the register disappeared came back and still did not ask me what I'm there for so I just left. Now at 173k miles on the old Mazda, and I just had my front end inspected by a real mechanic, as I do before every winter. Everything is tight as a drum, bushings intact, rust minimal, handles and steers like a new car. This is now 124k miles and 7 years since lying Manuel at Pep Boys swore up and down that my front end was about to fall apart on the highway and needed nearly $2000 in work to be safe "for my family." As I said in an earlier update, I never forget a liar. And I never go back to a business that lies to me. Yes, this is a vendetta. And no, pep boys management, I'm not calling you to "make it right." And I'm not removing my review and updates and I will keep updating this review once or twice a year until the day I actually need to rebuild my front end. UPDATED REVIEW- If I could give zero stars I would. I had an appointment for July 14th at 10.30am and dropped it off at 10am. The person in the front wish I got his name (has all tattoos) told me it was going to take 4hrs to change all of my brakes and a state inspection. I called 4 1/2 hours later and asked the status of my car. I was told by Patrick that I need new breaks on all 4 tires which I said yes I know I said that when I dropped off my car. Patrick then says do you want this service done?!! Excuse me??? So my car was just sitting in the lot for 4 1/2 hours and not touched?! The state inspection was not even done!! No phone call, text message nothing. I told them it needs to get done now as I need my car and waited for 4 1/2 hours. I then had to wait another 4 hrs!!!! When I got to pep boys AT 5PM I went to see if my car was still on the lift and of course it was but was not getting worked on!! The macanic Grayson (with the long beard) was having a personal conversation with a women in a white jeep inside the garage about when she went Jamaica!! Then I am the one that gets an attitude?!!! I walk into the front of the store and ask Patrick can you go tell the macanic to have his personal conversation on his own time and actually finish my car!! He just looked at me. Never went out to say anything and had no care. He finally went out 20 minutes later to come back in and said he is almost done. It is now 6pm and I still don't have my car. I rather not have a car at all then to EVER come back to this shit hole!! I don't know If this place is under new management because none of the macanics or workers are here that actually worked, were very nice and were quick and efficient. I have a vacuum leak in my car and was told by my mechanic to have a smoke test done. He suggested pep boys as he knew they had the machine. Firstly, this location does not like to answer their phones. When they do no one seems to have any information. After two weeks of trying to make an appt I find out I can just walk in to do it so long as its after 10am. I dropped the car off to them yesterday around noon. Was told it would get done today but would take a few hours as they are busy. Completely understandable. Around 6:30pm I head back over since I had not heard anything and was told my car was not touched because the person who does this test left for the day without doing it! What kind of business is this? It is now the next day at noon, i have not heard anything back and when I call they tell me they will check on it and call me back.... still waiting. I went in for an oil change Wednesday July 27, patient, nice, not in a rush, everything was fine until it was time to pay. I beforehand mentioned to the cashier I had a 30% off coupon I planned on using. She mentioned to say it when paying later, so I did. The oil change came up to $92 for synthetic oil, minus 30% off coupon, $64.40. I also was going to buy the windshield wiper liquid and some wipes to clean the car. So when she goes to charge me I see it comes up to $77 and change and I ask her if she's charging me for the items too and she said no I pay those separate so I ask her how it came up to that amount after she supposedly scanned the coupon! She goes oh let's just use this register... I tell her it already showed pending and she said I didn't finish the transaction so it won't go through but call us if anything... then goes ahead to do it again and it's still not adding up and she goes let's use one of my coupons and it still doesn't come up. She said if it shows up on your bank account posted call us to refund you. So OF COURSE it posted! I call, explained to whoever picked up the situation she put me on hold without asking me any info at all. 15 minutes later someone else comes on the line asking who I wanted to speak to because she saw the call on hold and didn't know what I was waiting for. So I go ahead and explain myself again. She checks and says the person who originally helped me comes in at 11 and she would ask her what happened and call me back at 11:15am. Fast forward to 2:30pm I call back today Friday July 29 and the person who picks up says VERY RUDELY: "oh there was only one other person here and she's gone for the day, you can come back tomorrow to see what they can do, I don't know what's going on with that and I have two people on hold waiting and puts me on hold". Literally and quoted! After waiting 10 minutes on hold I hang up and call my bank and dispute the charges. This location has LITERAL THIEVES working there! The guy who fixed my car was great! He explained everything, the same one who charged me twice and still not the proper amount didn't tell me anything he did. I had to ask him when I went around to get my car. He asked oh she didn't tell you, I said no she didn't say a word about what was done. Absolutely horrible! I brought my car in for a brakeline replacement/repair. I had just popped a hydraulic line and the brake pedal hit the floor. I had it towed in and left for a guesstimate to repair the brakes. When I called back I was told: 3 brake lines were leaking, the Master cylinder was leaking, All 4 wheel bearings were leaking, the front caliper was binding, the tie-rod ends were shot,...TWO THOUSAND AND NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS. My car is a 1998 pontiac sunfire, 82k miles, I had Just Passed Inspection at the Pontiac dealership less than 30 days earlier who noted the brake lines looked rusty but nothing was leaking. Passed Inspection OK. The car runs fine. Within a month a brakeline popped and I brought it into PepBoys. $2,900 dollars to repair and they Didnt Even MENTION the brake lines I had brought it in for. How do you get 3 brake lines, the master cylinder, all four slave cylinders leaking at once ? If one leaks, there are No brakes.. 9 leaks simultaneously? Front caliper binding? (With no brakes How do you know this?) Tie-rod ends? I came in for brake repair. I just passed inspection at the dealership but pep boys claims a total of 9 leaks? At the Same time? Binding calipers with no fluid in the system?, All 4 wheel bearings?, Tie-rod ends? Master Cylinder? ALMOST THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS....I Popped a brake line...No mention of how much to repair that...But a Laundry list of "other" repairs.... I JUST WANT MY BRAKE LINES, NOT REBUILD THE ENTIRE CAR! (MYSTERIOUSLY the bill matches the BlueBook value of the entire car) I am awaiting a callback for JUST THE BRAKE LINES. * Online guesstimate of the average replacement cost, $200-235 per brake line. Questionable service overall. I've been a long standing customer for Pep Boys and I've used them for my last 2 cars simply because they are convenient and typically reliable. I used this location last year for an oil change and asked them to look into an issue I had with the front control arms. They provided me with a rather expensive quote. I ended up going to a local mechanic for cheaper but I still trusted their opinion. Fast forward to January of this year. I stopped in for another oil change and requested a state inspection. This location claims to offer early drop off however, when I arrived, there were no envelopes at the key drop to put my car keys. I ended up having to wait until they opened at 8am, hence I was late for work. Pretty inconvenient. I dropped off my car and got a call from one of the staff informing me that my car failed the inspection, because the front tie end rods need to be repaired. Total cost for repair + oil change + and failed inspection = over $1000! I declined the repair and paid for the remainder of service. Besides the price, I thought it was weird that I would need something like this done after having the recent repairs I mentioned. I figured the mechanic at that time would have seen this issue too. Unless for some reason, I'd been unknowingly driving reckless since then. So, I brought my car to another mechanic for a second opinion and guess what? My car was absolutely fine. He could not find any issue with the tie end rods. I went the extra mile and brought my car to the dealership service center and guess what? They also did not find any issue. Moreover, I passed the inspection with flying colors. I don't know what training the mechanic at this location has or where he saw an issue however, if 2 other mechanics, at two different, unaffiliated locations found nothing, I find it highly questionable that he did. As a woman and a customer, I'm highly disappointed and feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. It really makes me question the service and recommendations provided. So, 2 stars for questionable service but the oil change seems to be fine. Customer service was pretty fair during my visit as well. However, I will never ever again return to this location. My husband dropped off the car for alignment. Before drop off, the car run perfectly fine. Our mechanic said we just need to have it aligned after we changed our tires. We werent able to do alignment on the shop we want because they were already closed. So we decided to just do it in this shop thinking theyll do a good job because theyre well known and it's just near my husband's work. We left the car 1pm(november 7,2018), picked up around 5:30pm. They said the ball joint needs to be replaced. They gave us an estimation on how much we need to pay around $1500. Unfortunately, when my husband's driving the car back home, he felt something is not right. The stiring wheel is not aligned (crooked, not balance, unsymmetrical) and we are hearing unsual sound which we never heard before. Today, i told him to bring back the car to them because we dont get it. Then they told him around 12:30pm that they did not aligned it and will just issue him a refund. Around 1:50pm, the manager said they aligned it but it has a problem (the ball joint). The manager offered as a "COURTESY DISCOUNT" they will lower the quoted amount for ball joint repair to $700!!!! I called them and the person i spoke with said that their repairmen should have not done the alignment and not charge my husband. He said after they aligned it, they did a test drive and they found out something is wrong. They only told my husband about the ball joint but did not informed him about the stiring wheel issue and that sound. They put my husband's safety at risk!!!!! After reading all the reviews here. This shop is fishy!!!! So many inconsistencies!!! Wait for my complaint in department of vehicle safety!!!! read more

The worst customer service ever!!! I get to the shop at 8:50am, wait there till 7pm only to find out the shop manager "Patrick" had ordered the wrong part for my car. Usually shop managers check the parts when they come in for delivery, but not Patrick, noooo, Patrick assumed he is good at his job and left it to the mechanic to figure out the part wouldn't fit on my car. It was a shift change and it was time for Patrick to go home and so I asked him why my car hasn't been serviced yet, his response was " well I did what I could, any problems take it up with the guy coming in after me"... I didn't grab him by his head because he is an older fella and I respect my elders, the lack of empathy is sickening, I stayed in the shop from 8:50am till 7pm and kept asking about the status of my car only to hear Patrick say that the ordered parts are on their way..... smh PepBoys should really reconsider Patrick's role at the company, a shop manager should bring value to a company, not decrease it. We've been going to these guys at 2633 E. Tremont for years. Mostly my wife's choice. My response was "What's a 'Pep Boy' anyway?" Over that time, I've come to appreciate them. Host work, good timeframes, reasonable prices, just trustworthy, and that's a big thing in these parts. So today, my wife goes in about a windshield wiper. Things went very bad. So now is the test: "What will they do to make it right?" Turns out, they'll do what they should do maybe more. They took care of it, probably cost a small amount of money, but as far as I'm concerned, because of them making it right, I'm a customer for life now. Highly recommended! read more

I've taken my 14 year old Cadillac DeVille to this location several times from small work to major work and the job always gets done and done well. Some people have to understand in order for work to be done correctly, you might have to wait a little. Do you want your car fixed right? Take it here. Ignore these negative reviews, people in general don't like to wait and expect a cheap and fast repair. Well, cheap and fast doesn't mean it's quality work. As for the pricing, I think it's pretty fair. For a simple door regulator replacement that I had done recently...it was done correctly and it was done cheaper than any other place that quoted me (imagine what taking it to the dealer would cost?). I've dealt with store manager Rick more than once and he's always been fair, kind and worked with me to ensure I left feeling content with both the work & service. I had the pleasure of Pep-Boys associate Denzel to address my car problem. He took the time to listen to my problem and made sure it was addressed and done correctly. Being Pep-Boys deals with more than one customer at a given time, it gets busy, nevertheless they are polite and professional. One other reason I like Pep-Boys, is 97% of the time, they have the parts needed for your car on the premises. They stand by their work. So, in the event, if by some fluke an adjustment needs to be made on your car, Rick and the rest of the staff will fast-track you...so, they can adjust whatever needs to be done ASAP. They haven't given me any reason to take my car anyplace else. read more

I've been to this Pep Boys on two different occasions. First time was for tires I had shipped there to have installed. Left my car there for 4 hours and went to work. I get a call and was told car was ready. On my lunch break, I took a cab to retrieve my vehicle and to my surprise the tires were never changed at all. Second time was yesterday for a basic state inspection on my 2016 Chevy which normally takes 20 to 30 mins on average. These guys had me wait 2 hours with my agitated 1 year old. The rep comes back to the front and says, "you need new windshield wipers or your car won't pass the inspection!" At this point I was so annoyed that I paid for the wipers to get out of there. I don't know if they are being pressured to make more sales but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about selling. Fool me once shame on you. Twice and the shame is on me. I had a 12:30 appointment today for an inspection as well as an oil change and was there on time. I was told it may take 2-3 hours for them to call me for my appointment so I chose to take my car and wait for their call. I never received a call from them. I called them at 3 and was told there was still 1 person ahead of me but they could not give me a time in which it would be done. So I waited again and called at 5 and was told they would not be able to work on my car today. They should not take appointments if they are already booked. They wasted my time and now it's too late to go anywhere else today. Don't go there they will just waste your time. read more
