Worst customer service! It is unbelievable that after confirming tow service, I waited one (1) hour and 40 mns, and after waiting all that time they canceled the tow truck. I had not choice but to call another company to tow my car. Definitely will not recommend using this business. They left me stranded in a very busy street in Brooklyn. read more

During the storm last month, my daughter's car was damaged by a snow plow. Took it to Five J's and they were wonderful. Johnny the adjuster was magnificent!! He explained everything that would be done from the vehicle pick up if needed, car rental pick up and return, and explained how my vehicle would be repaired. Johnny stated the repair would take a week and i was pleasantly surprised that it would be finished that soon. I had my truck rear ended at 45 miles an hour! I thought for sure I needed to buy a new car. I brought my car to five J's and in one week not only did it look better than it did when I got it from the dealer, but I was amazed how fast it was done how beautiful it looked and how hasslefree the experience was. They had a rent a car waiting for me, I didn't have to deal with the insurance company at all, and they fought to get everything corrected to perfection! Even when I had to return the Rent-A-Car, I was able to go there and they did that for me too. I highly recommend this place. It is nice to see a family run business that still exists with Quality and Care for the consumer. Mike (the owner) even called me to make sure that everything was to my satisfaction and thank me for my business. In today's day and age this does not exist in the commercial world. When NYPD recovered my stolen car, they called 5js. Towed from location 5j yard. $125. The next morning, 5js called me to let me know they had it. I showed up 2 hours later. $50 for 2 days storage. It was an older car-no full coverage. Car had suspension damage, not driveable, best friend is towing to my house where I will fix myself. Not spending thousands to repair an old car. 5js won't let his truck on their lot, they tow off their lot and drop it in front of their lot $100. So basically charged 2 days storage for 2 hours storage and $100 to tow 100 inches. My car was stolen by a criminal and my money stolen by a crook. read more

I can't comment on their auto repair abilit, but as a sub-contractor to NY City's parking/towing division, they are either incompe or criminal or both. They tow cars on Friday afternoons, and then shut down for weekends, even though their website claims they are open on Saturday. They do not have an answering service. They then have the gall to charge you for "storing" the car that they won't let you in store. The parent company makes it clear that they will not relay any messages to their tow pound supervisors; it collects fees from them and nothing else. When I finally reached someone, I was told I didn't need my driver's license to release my car-just a PHOTO of the license. According to NYC's parking violations website, that's illegal. It's also an invitation to theft, since it's easy to photoshop someone else's license and to claim their car. (Could wonder this "rule" be part of a chop shop scam?). I've reported this company to NYC's parking fines department , and to NY State's AG's office. If your car gets towed and you encounter trouble, you should, too. read more

Their name was given to me by the responsible party's insurance company and being newer to The Bronx I took a shot with them and I am glad I did. They had the car repair like new and faster than they said they would. They even detailed the car inside and out. They did change my license plate holder to theirs (even in the front - my damages was rear tail gate only) so that slightly bothered me. But the after market license plate holders I had purchased and installed were in my cargo area (unlike another review for them I read) thus only 4-1/2 stars instead of 5. Our experience with Five J's Automotive was one of the absolute BEST we have ever had from any service related business and certainly from ANY in the automotive repair industry. The norm is usually a toss-up between either experienced, knowledgeable mechanics OR mechanics who are actually Honest and Trustworthy. With Five J's Automotive you truly get BOTH! We didn't get to meet everyone there but we did have the pleasure of dealing with Destiny, John and Mike. All three of these employees are consummate Professionals with a phenomenal work ethic. We were treated with courtesy, respect and kindness. You can tell that they sincerely care about their customers. Our original estimated turnaround time was about a week to a week and a half. The gentlemen that helped me were extremely kind and quick to inform me i only had a slight issue with my vehicle and it would not be costly. Honor can be a scarce trait. Absolutely horrible experience with this company - I called as they have a contract with my apartment complex and instead of giving me accurate information since someone was parked in my spot the proceed to let me know that I was "allowed" to call them and they don't know when they would be there to remove the car from my spot. This was extremely unacceptable as I work late nights and it has happened more than once that someone is in my spot and they never showed up. If they have the contract with the apartment complex so they should act with some sense of urgency. Just based on how i was spoken to i would not recommend this company. Their customer service is disgusting and offered no help as I am unable to go to my bed until they get here - mind you this is at 5am. I've already been waiting for over 2 hours. read more

This place illegally towed my car from my school with a clear nYCDOe permit displayed . They claim they were called by an administrator Medina and the administrator said I was a tenant. Didn't work at school, was a tenant and used the permit to park there. Full lie no such person existed . They took my car without making sure the person was saying the truth. When asked for person they fully covered up and lied for them. Apparently it is not the first time they do this. I wouldn't be surprised if they profit from this and work in conjunction with the caller to rob people this way. Their tactics are manipulative, cunning and ruthless If this is how they run their business, leaving a bad taste in yiur mouth, then it's a reflection of all their other services. New review 7/10/2023, an electric scooter hit my Subaru Outback, the scooter pulled out the bottom of my passenger back side out, and damaging the side window, causing horrible scratches and dents. the guy took off when I started calling the police. Called my insurance company and took my car to Five J's Automotive because they did such a great job with my daughters car. Again, they helped me out with everything relieving the stress regarding the situation that caused the damage to my car. They are professional, kind, respectful, and work with you and your insurance company to get things done properly and efficiently! The car looked absolutely beautiful, and the inside looked like new as they made sure it is immaculate before returning the car. Having a pitbull and German Shepherd that shed like crazy, I tried my best to take the hair out before taking the car to them, wasn't successful. They did an incredible job. I wish I could rate them with 10 stars, believe me, when you are involved in an accident, Mike and Crew just make a stressful situation easier to deal with. I was told "my car had scratches and nicks" prior to being towed. YES but there's now a CHUNK missing out of my bumper that no one can explain. They refused to help whatsoever. This company is a fraud. They're completely unprofessional! The women in the front Sarah is a complete idiot and covers up for her "higher ups" Mike and Kevin. Five J's Auto were towing a car on my street, the tow guy went the wrong way on the block and he hit a speed bump and 7 vehicles, in the process my vehicle included. To top it off he didn't stay on the scene so it was a hit and run in the middle of the night. The tow truck was caught on camera and the neighborhood was able to track down Five J's as responsible. Neither Kevin or Mike were straight forward. Kevin is a rude individual, and stated he was the victim bc of how many cars were hit. It is day 14 and they haven't made any statements to their insurance company so that the investigation process can be handled. Additionally when you contact the auto shop the duck any and all phone calls made referring to this incident. Leaving the problem in limbo. Just a mess. read more

This towing company towed my car for no reason in the Bronx. They were rude and did not help me at all with the police and why they towed my car. I still do not have any answers. They made me pay $500 to get my car back. When I came to pick up my car they made me wait outside for over 2 hours just to retrieve my car after I paid. I had my 3 month old with me and they knew this. It was hot out and I had to make sure my 3 month old was not overheating. This company has no regard for others and I would not be surprised if they had something underhanded going on with the police. This company is crooked, the people who work there are rude and inconsiderate. Stay far away from this trash of a company. There are way too many towing companies in the Bronx to use a business that is underhanded, crooked and rude and have something going on with the police just to make money. After an auto accident on 11/14/16, my vehicle was towed to this shop. I had never heard of them, and had lots of questions. Mike and Chris patiently answered everything. I called my insurance company, and an inspection was arranged. They even helped me chose a company from which to rent a car. After the inspection, Chris explained all services my car needed. I signed, and Chris, Mike, and co. took care of the rest. They, not only, did an excellent job of my vehicle, they also made the process easier and more comprehensible for me. My car was returned within the promised timeframe. I am so Grateful that my car was towed to their facility. If I have any needed repairs, I will go to them. Oh Yes, they replaced my New Rochelle Honda license covers with theirs. Oh well, I advertised for Honda for over 5 years, I guess I can advertise for them for a while. My car was towed on a friday and I was told that the pound was closed on sat and sun.. The first available date that I could pick up my car was monday. THey were not flexible and charged me 250 instead of 125 for the towing of the car. Avoid this company.. very bad business practices. read more

They did a good job with the actual dent that I had but one thing that i realized today when changing my license plate was that they had the nerve to replace my license plate holders to theirs which is an advertisement to their company. I paid about $50 for both of my license plate holders and for them to not even place them in my trunk for me to use at a later time was unacceptable. it may be petty to some but this lacks respect for other peoples things. send me my plate holders or send me a $50 check and i'll be sure to recommend people and even change this review.... but this is a big no no. i'm really ticked off right now. read more

In the middle of the night we get a flat and our car battery dies out on the side of the highway. We call this place after trying to fix it ourself two hours later and they tell us they will send someone. We specifically tell them we were on the side of the highway and they tell us 45 minutes. After waiting over 2 hours and several phone calls later they tell us that they cannot reach our location. Having told them we need to be helped and have kids and infants in the car they tell us after we've been on the shoulder of a highway for over four hours. Thanks for nothing. read more
