It was 9pm, dark and the car was un-drivable. I called AAA to tow me to a AAA recommended garage. After over 4 hours of waiting, AAA told me they had no driver available to tow me, and that I should call a private towing company. It was after 1am and I was quite nervous. I called Power Lift Automotive and the dispatcher, Rob, answered the phone. He was very reassuring and said that Justin, his driver, would be there within 45 minutes - and he was. I was still nervous because I had to pay cash and leave my car with Justin whilst I got a cab home. But both Rob and Justin reassured me that Justin would take photos of the AAA service station and of my keys being dropped into their drop box - and I received many photos and a texted receipt. Today I called to get a proper receipt to present to AAA for reimbursement and spoke to Andy the owner. What a pleasure to deal with such a pleasant, reliable and competent team of people who put their customers needs and well-being first. I am writing to formally report a deeply disturbing and dangerous incident involving the individual…read morepictured below, who appears to be operating a tow truck on behalf of your company. Without any provocation, this individual verbally assaulted me and then attempted to ram my vehicle. The situation escalated further when he deliberately positioned his tow truck in front of my car, using it to intimidate and threaten me. He proceeded to move the tow platform toward my vehicle in a manner that strongly suggested an intent to strike it. The entire encounter was alarming and left me shaken. At no point was his behavior justified or appropriate. I remain uncertain as to his exact intentions, whether he intended to damage my vehicle, force entry, or otherwise harm me, but his actions were aggressive, erratic, and posed a clear safety risk. This incident occurred in the CVS parking lot located at 375 Queen Anne Road in Teaneck. Conduct of this nature is completely unacceptable, particularly from someone entrusted with operating a large commercial vehicle on public streets. I urge you to take this matter seriously and investigate it promptly. No one should have to experience this level of intimidation or danger.

Empire State Towing tried to charge me $59 for a 3.6-mile tow that should have been fully covered…read moreunder my AAA membership. I understand paying the congestion fee plus tax, but no one at AAA or Empire State Towing could explain the extra $44. Instead of clarifying, they sent a driver without my consent and demanded payment on arrival. The driver was professional, but the company's billing practices are not. This looks like attempted theft that I'm sure Empire State Towing performs on a regular basis. AAA should not be partnering with a company running scams like this.
