I drove there and was then told the store did not have the tire, they asked me who did I speak too and referred me to another store. I called the last number to confirm I was at the store I called on my over there. Confirmed, the clerk had an attitude and did not help. I left, I had to address my flat. I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience at Mavis. On 2/26, I went in for a NYS inspection and was told everything on my car was perfect. But on my way home, my car started making noises that were not there before. I couldn't go back right away, but when my fiancé brought the car back on 2/28, we were told the issue was the brakes, control arm, and struts ($3500). The problem is I already had all of that work done recently and have proof, so it does not make sense. I have spent thousands of dollars with Mavis over time, and this situation completely broke my trust. How does a car go from perfect to needing major repairs within two days? I also tried to resolve this in person, but was met with attitude and told there was nothing they could do. I filled out the survey and left a Google review, and still did not get a real response. Calling customer solutions was no help either, it just rings and hangs up. At this point, I feel ignored and frustrated. I do not want this to fall on deaf ears because based on other reviews, I am not the only one dealing with this. I came in with one tire that had imploded while I was on the bridge and another with a slow leak. Josh, John, and Kevin were all helpful, informative, and efficient. Josh even gave me an additional discount and ensured the TPMS system and computer balance were done, as well as removing the nail from the other tire--without charging outrageous additional fees--because he could tell I was having a rough day. I woke up at 7:45am said a prayer and made my appt at Mavis on Boston Rd. I only needed an oil change so im praying nothing else with addition finding. I take such good care of my car named Faith (best freinds idea lol) I purchased the better oil for an older car so Im curious to find out if this Mavis in the Bronx is as good or close to as the Mavis up in Walden N.Y. The oil I chose was a bit pricier than the regualar smegular oil but my car is older. Every one here seems very professional and informed. Especially Chris. Angel was extremely nice and professional. Even offered to get my tires rotated free of charge, and applied a $10 coupon. The office space is a good size but could be kept a bit neater and the workers seemed busy at work. So far so good. Please please go somewhere else because the customer service here is the worst. I have an appointment..I arrived at Mavis at 8:55 AM for a 9 am appointment I was told I would have to wait 1&1/2 hour for a plug for a tire that I purchased from Mavis two months ago and I have a tire warranty. I asked for the manager and he said I should've taken an 8 o'clock appointment. There were no 8 o'clock appointments but what does it matter if I have a 9 o'clock appointment and I have to wait an hour and a half. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever seen. read more

I went first called this Mavis an hour and half prior to closing and asked if they had an available time same day to balance two tires on my SUV. They said they could accommodate me if I came right then. I arrive and hour before closing and they took care of my car as promised. They made sure my daughter and I had air-conditioned seating to wait in while they finished up the care already in the bays and then my vehicle. They wen the extra mile in my opinion. First the desk clerk didn't greet or acknowledge my entry. Simply if I had a reservation. He then took my key and didn't ask me any questions. Didn't ask follow up questions or history of my car. He later called and stated my car need 4 new tires and wipers to pass the state inspection. I've taken my car to this site for years and never has anyone used a state inspection to force me to purchase tires. Despite my last visit being 7 months ago and tires not being mentioned. As a female I don't appreciate being treated as if I don't know anything due to my gender. I also don't appreciate being manipulated to buy tires. I have been taking my SUV to this location since 2020 and have had my share of good and bad experiences with the level of customer service at the Allerton location. In 2020 Edgar and his team were very professional and treated me with respect. As a woman it's always scary going to a mechanic or a place to get your vehicle service because you feel they are going to take advantage of you. Not here, I was treated very well. I went back in 2021 and 2022 and there was a new manager by the name of Tim and he was was very rude and unprofessional to me and other customers. I had the worse experience while he was working there. To the point that I was looking to get my vehicle service elsewhere until today. I called and thankfully they are under new management and a whole new crew at the Allerton location. The service was beyond expectational today. The first person to greet was the new district manager and then Carlos the new manager at this location. He was beyond professional, knowledgeable and extremely patient. Brian is the new assistant manager he was very professional and helpful as well. The mechanic that service my vehicle was very patient with me and professional. My car was "repaired" at the Boston road Mavis tires. First I took my car in for rear shock replacement which should've been a few hundred dollars. Then I got a call from them say you should replace the tires also. Ok fine I gave the go ahead and they chose the most expensive tires they had to offer. They then added multiple "repairs that I did not ask for or approve of. Now to the worst. After about 3 months I'm driving on i95 and the rear wheel snaps completely off. After a quick inspection you could clearly see the 3 of the lugs nuts had come off on there own some time ago leaving 2 lugs supporting my car. The 3 missing lugs were obviously not screwed on tight enough by the Mavis mechanics. When these lugs snapped without warning I was just left with another costly repair. AVOID AVOID AVOID Mavis. I went to this Mavis on Boston Rd. I usually go to the one on Broadway but I gave it a chance just for a oil change. While trying to add on wipers and other things I shut the manager down. He proceeded to say he could not get the plug off the oil pan so I told him to change the whole pan to call his bluff. He came back and said the mechanic got the plug off and changed the oil. 5,000 miles later oil is dripping from said plug. When I looked no gasket. Love my Jeep Wrangler too much to go back there. John, the dark skin one (sorry if that description offends anyone, theres two Johns) gives amazing customer service. He is the reason that I keep coming back to this location. Not only did they do an amazing job on my tire repair my first time here, but when I bought my car in to get an oil change and to rotate my tires, they told me my brake pads were bad. Bc I'm a female and dont really know about cars, most mechanics would give me a set price and just expect me to pay it. But John showed me the problems, compared it to new brake pads and even worked with me on the price. People complain about waiting or the mechanics taking too long, but wouldnt you rather them do a great job, rather than to rush it? Thank you guys for great service. An appointment was scheduled for 10am to change 4 tires on their website. It took this place 6 and half hours for my mother in law to be able to leave. The customer service was very unprofessional, on top of this they had 'lost' the car keys and spent 2 hours looking for it. Late review....went to pep boys on east Tremont to get new tires and they had a Promo of buying 3 tires and getting the 4th free. So I just wanted to buy the tires and have my mechanic do the work. Anyways, pep boys was false advertising the promo, the 4th tire isn't free unless you have the tires installed at their shop, which also u have to pay for installation. The customer service at pep boys was horrible. Anyways I already gave them a bad review and it is what it is.... I did some searching around and decided to give Mavis a try. The manager helped me with my tire search and gave me all the details in what I should buy and what would fit me for my needs. Instead of buying just the tires I was so taken care in there, I decided to pay for installation and get my car some new shoes. I had gotten a flat on 95N right before the Connor street exit. I was able to get off and found Mavis Tires. I pulled in and asked a younger adult if he can help me. As I was asking that question a very rude nasty older white man comes out and says "NO WE CAN'T!". My response was "why this is a tire place and I have flat." He then proceeds with his nastiness once again and says you have to wait 1 hour. I did not have time to wait as I was on my way to an appointment. I explained this to the nasty man and he was getting even more nasty about the situation. I then said "Sir, I did not come here to fight with you. I just need help with my flat tire." He then said there was another place down the street. I then asked him if he could at least put air in my tire so that I would be able to make it there. He told me to pull my car to the side and he would fill it with air. He then leaves. So as I'm waiting I say to the young guy "can you please put air in my tire". He starts and the older man comes back and yells at the young kid for helping me. The older man was so rude to me and his worker that I then told him it doesn't take much to be kind. How does Mavis a reputable TIRE SHOP have someone working for them that is that nasty and rude! You need to do better MAVIS! Don't bring your car here go on Boston Rd to DUNN RIM REPAIR. This afternoon, I was driving on the Sprain Brook Parkway when one of my rear tires completely blew out. As if this weren't bad enough, I found myself in the only part of NYC that I don't know at all. I hobbled out onto the Allerton Avenue exit, simply because I had at least heard of this street. By this point, my tire was practically shredded wheat, and my nerves were pretty well shredded too. Within minutes, I found this location of Mavis Discount Tire, and all I can say is, I should have played the lottery this morning, because today was clearly my lucky day. I was immediately greeted by Roy at the front desk, who provided me from start to finish with what has to be the best customer service I've received at ANY business in years. I purchased an excellent tire at a great price, and with the help of the rest of the guys at this Mavis location (most notably Angel), was in and out in a very reasonable time. They saved the day, and made me feel like I wasn't a stranger in trouble, but a valued customer. Because of my experience today, I will be giving my local branch of Mavis a try next time I need tires (though hopefully not under similar circumstances!). Quick note about this location: it's only been open about a year now, and they're currently in the process of remodeling/expanding. Although work was being done on site while I was there, it in no way impeded my experience, nor should any potential customers be dismayed by this. To those who are lucky enough to be local to this Mavis Discount Tire location, I say, you're lucky indeed, and this is where you want to get your tires. Had an appointment at 9 am wasn't checked in until almost 10 am. At 11 I found out the tire I needed wasn't on premises! (On Friday someone called to confirm and said the tire would be there on Saturday. I pay for that $18 I get a car I drive two blocks away and the tires go low again I go back to these guys and they tell him the tire is not fixed than have same problem. First time there last January 2020 was a quick inspection, great service. Second time there at the end of September 2020 was an oil change and tire rotation. Although they were very busy, Cleveland's professionalism and customer service did not disappoint. He's honest about wait time and everything you will be getting. This location is horrible. They "claimed" they didn't have the tires my husband wanted on their website, but they were none the less advertised. They didn't even have a comparable tire offered at the same price or at least near it. They also stated the car needed extensive repairs in the front end. Which we were OK with, but it took the majority of the day to have the repairs done. We arrived at the location around 11 and didn't get out of there until around PM. They didn't even have the parts needed in stock for the repairs and we had to wait for them to order it and deliver it and when it arrived it was for the wrong car! I go to this place any time I need something fixed on my car. They are trustworthy which I can't say the same for with places like pep boys. I had a flat so I came here to get a new tire. They showed me what horrible condition all my tires were and they worked with me on getting a deal for all season tires which included the wheel alignment. Without any pressure or charge they also gave me a list of things that needed to be changed and helped me with understanding which can things can be put on hold and which things should be changed sooner rather than later. Got a flat tire on a Thursday and called to check if they had my tires and see if I could come in. Next appointment I could go to without missing work (9-5) was Saturday morning. When I asked if they had my tires I was told we have all tires" and was rushed off the phone. Here I am Saturday morning and I'm told they don't have my tires and it will have to come from the warehouse. I can come back tomorrow if they receive it today but if not then Monday is the soonest, which again I wound be able to do without missing work. Such a disappointment! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I made an appointment for a tire change online. All I needed was one tire. The appointment was made more than a week out. 3 days before the appointment. I called to push the appointment BACK a day because work was keeping me out of town an extra day. I spoke to 2 different people on the phone about changing my appointment. They were nice and got it switched for me. The day before my appointment, someone called to confirm my 2pm appointment for the next day. I spoke to a human on the phone about this, and it was confirmed. The day of my appointment, I drove 1 hour to their shop. When I got there, they acted like I didn't even have an appointment. Once I showed them the paperwork I had with my appointment confirmation, they "magically" found my appointment, but then told me the tire hadn't been delivered yet, and that it was due in that afternoon. They told me to leave and that they would call me back when the tire was delivered. In conclusion, I DROVE CLOSE TO 3 HOURS ROUND TRIP JUST TO BE TOLD MY TIRE HADNT EVEN BEEN DELIVERED YET. This angers me because not only did I make an appointment well in advance, I even pushed my appointment BACK a day, and I was called to confirm my reservation the day before. At that point, they clearly didn't have my tire. Why would they confirm my reservation without the tire physically being there? They thought nothing of telling me to come back later- even when I told them I loved over an hour away. The communication here is TERRIBLE! The fact that I spoke to 3 humans on the phone and not one person said they needed more time to get the tire in stock just baffles me! HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL! If they told me the day before that they needed an extra day, I would have gladly rebooked, but because they allowed me to drive all the way there and the acted like I didn't have an appointment (I'm sure because they knew they didn't have the tire) is simply unacceptable. I found another place 2 miles from me that got the tire delivered in under 24 hours. Mavis, you have lost a customer for good. read more
