Went there 340pm they hadn't even moved from where I parked it. Went in now desk person telling me they were swamped and haven't gotten to it Thry weren't swamped in am, 2 people ahead.. Why make appt, then lie through the day when I could have gone elsewhere. My son sent me there but he's in ohio. I will never go back and will never recommend pep boys They day before I had wemt to lake grove in error for 1st appt.whenappt was. with bayshore. So I had to rebook for Sunday. Went in for an oil change and what I thought was a tire patching. Found out I needed rear brakes, rotors and tires. Said to go ahead and do it all. Went to leave to find they never put the caps on the valve stems so o had to go back in to tell them. Three weeks later my front tires were making a grinding sound when I tapped the brakes AND stayed that way when I hit the gas pedal. Went back and they looked and said NOW I need the front brakes done.....if they were bad today then they were bad three weeks ago and why the hell didn't you know that??? Had to spend over $500 more to fix and emailed their customer service to complain. They actually got right back to me and said their "Field Leadership Team" would contact me directly. That was two days ago and I reached back out to be told again they would call me.....STILL WAITING. DO YOUR JOB PEP BOYS. This location is a joke as are their "leadership" people clearly. I need you to set of tires for my 2018 Chevy Colorado to pass inspection the only tired Dealer near me was Pep Boys so I went there they did not have the similar style that I had on which were good years they sold me another Style it was a different size tire . I now have a shimmy in the front end of my truck that has 60,000 miles on it . I drove for 150 miles on these new tires from Kumo . I take the truck back to Pep Boys and drive with the manager, The store manager proceeds to tell me it's the crankcase in my transmission that is the problem. I asked to take the tires off and check the tires he refuses. I asked to give the tires back and get the style that was on it which will Goodyear tires. He refuses. He walks away from me and leaves me there. I don't have to escalate as they will not give me the tires that fit the truck. The manager in the Bayshore office refuses to talk to me. Without evaluating and looking at the truck he is telling me it's the crankcase a $6,000 repair. I asked to look at the tires. Please check the tires they are the wrong size. He refuses. He walks away and States I'm not talking to you anymore. Not the customer service I was expecting as a small business owner. It appears I'm going to have to escalate this to the legal matter. Zero stars if I could. I made an appointment for 12:30pm. My car didn't even go to back to one of the bays until 2:30ish. So I went to speak with the rep behind the counter about how long it was taking, and as he we're talking his personal cell phone starts to ring he tells me to wait while he answered a personal call on his cellphone while we are talking. It is pointless to make an appointment. You will spend your entire day waiting. Then the rep tries to justify the time by comparing their appointment bookings to reps booking a doctor's appointment. Also left black grease stains inside the car. The job itself took less than an hour. I was just swapping tires. But the wait to just have the vehicle seen was out of control. Do NoT... They replaced all 4 tires on my car less than a year ago. I also bought a warranty. They did not do the alignment correctly causing the two front tires to wear thread bare and damn near killed me. Been trying to get the tires replaced under warranty for weeks. The manufacturer issued Pep Boys a warranty number to process the replacement, but they cant figure out how to do it so they get reimbursed and it is now my problem. The store Manager just basically told me I'm SOL and go to another store. Their corporate office is useless, all they say is they will escalate and have someone call which never happens. So here I am at the Bayshore location for the 3rd time this week. I initially came for an oil change. Well after 1st visit the next day my oil light goes and I realize I have no oil in my car and the last 2 places I was, at home and at a friends had big oil puddles. Ended up buying 6 more quarts of synthetic oil and spending $80 just to get to work and back to here the next day. Second time here they found the cap for the top ( yup that was missing too) and supposedly fixed it. Well today I move my car - and another pile of oil In my driveway that was just repaved last fall. So here I am again in Bayshore after spending $180 and 5 hours here already. After 2 'oil changes' and driving around with no oil. I'm going to go ballistic if they don't fix this. Boy has this place gone to sh*t!!! Besides the fact that the staff is constantly changing for what appears to be the worst, the entire place is just a mess! What im more upset over is the fact that I have a battery 2 years into a 3 year warranty that failed. My truck had to be towed to a mechanic shop. I was advised the battery was no good, but was still under warranty. I contacted PepBoys in Bay Shore and spoke with 2 associates who admitted they were both new & didn't know anything regarding the warranty. Neither couldn't even look up my account. I was advised to bring the battery in. I did. The mechanic was nice & tested the battery. They didn't have a battery in stock to replace it or a manager there to approve it. I was told to call the next day & ask to speak with a manager. I was put on the phone with Doug. After speaking with him he said I could again bring the battery back & he would exchange it. My sister (works at mechanic shop) brought it in at the time agreed on & after waiting 30 mins for him to return, he strolled in with his unleashed lose dog, wearing street clothes, no name tag or anything representing pep boys, let alone a manager. Without saying a word, he tried "even exchanging" my battery for a much smaller, cheaper battery, which also happens to be too small for my truck. When questioned, his entire attitude changed. My "even exchange" went from i owe nothing, to i owe $40, then I arrived there & I owed $50!!!! No less for a smaller cheaper battery. He outright admitted they no longer carry that particular battery as it was defective. It was obvious he tried to take advantage and get one over on 2 women. Disgusting! He was completely rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. He kept reminding me how he was "doing me a favor" as he shouted over us. ummm no sir, I have a warranty. I went to another pepboys the next day & was greeted by a manager in a pepboys shirt with a name tag, clean professional environment and he was able to offer the proper exchange under the warranty, no favors, no issues, just professionalism. read more

Shut this place down. Despite having made an oil change appointment online, I sat in the waiting room for 90 minutes and my car hadn't moved from its original spot. Had to go into the service area to find the front desk service mgr - "Milton" (hadn't seen him inside for at least 30 minutes). When questioned on why the long wait, I was met with a disgust and a dismissive attitude. I will not print the "adjectives" he used. I grabbed my keys and left - and will never be back. The service here has been consistently unprofessional, but this is beyond any acceptable level. The place should either be closed or hire competent individuals who don't hate their jobs and have some common decency and an ability to deal with customers. Stay away. The customer service at this location is absolutely terrible. When I asked how long it would take to put new tire on (because I had to get to work and had a nail in the tire), I was told I'm lucky they are open on a holiday and that he knows I'm trying to go watch some fireworks. They also changed the price of how much the tire would be 3 times. Pep Boys you should reconsider who you hire when they are dealing with customers. On July 8th I brought my truck in to replace tires. I got home and noticed damage to two rims that was not there when I brought the truck in. I showed the rims to Toyota, and the service advisor stated that it looks like that the mechanic tried to pry the wheel off thinking it was a hubcap and the other wheel looks like the mechanic tried to put the balancing weights on the outside of the rim. These wheels are $813.00 each and Toyota will charge me $80.00 each to install and balance the tires for a total of $1786.00 plus tax. I am supposed to hear from a manager (Omiar)on Thurs 7/11/24, we'll see how they resolve this. BTW: I have been getting tires from Pep Boys for years, unless they repair the damage, never again. wish I could print pictures Update: it is now 6 pm on 7/11 and I never got a call from Omiar the manager (did not think I would) . Oil change take up to 3-4 hrs that's if your on top of them because they will have your car there for hours and not notify you about anything till they remember. I was very iffy about going to Pep Boys because they charge you $50 just to look at the car to see what's wrong with it. I was pleasantly surprised and got a great explanation from their technician "Mr. Hammonds" who was friendly and gave me great advice, it seemed like he really knew what he was talking about and genuinely wanted to help. GREAT guy, please give him a raise! The front desk guy who rang me up was fine, but the technician himself really impressed me. I've never had a problem being overcharged or misdiagnosed and their parts are reasonably priced, but here's the problem. Be prepared to wait in line forever after which you'll have to sit in a dingy waiting room all day. If you leave your car maybe they'll call you upon completion...maybe not. Ordered tires on line and scheduled an appointment for 12:00pm. Arrived for appointment at 11:50am. I was told they needed to pick up the tires at their warehouse around the corner. it took them 3 hours to install 4 tires. My vehicle was the only one in the shop for tires the entire time. They finally finished and brought my Truck out of the shop at 3:00pm. I got into the truck and the tire pressure monitor was flashing at 57 psi not the required 80psi. Beyond awful mechanics. I brought in my 2013 BMW 328i for an oil change and waited quite a bit. Was charged for full synthetic oil and new oil filter around $90 or so. I brought my car to my local shop who's been serving my family cars for years and told me the oil filter was never actually changed causing oil clumps, etc. Will be following up with more... DO NOT TRUST THEM. BEYOND FRUSTRATED. How the hell does that happen? Forget to replace an oil filter during an oil change....Will be posting receipts of proof and pictures of the damage shown from recent oil change when notified of what happened.. read more

The amount of disrespect that I experienced today from SOLOMON, at this Pepboys location is astounding! I have never met someone so disrespectful towards a customer! Wait, let me not forget to mention that if you are a female, you won't be disrespected, it will actually be quite the opposite! You'll even have your car looked at and finished before every other guy waiting there for the past couple of hours. I went there for a TIRE ROTATION! 2 hours later, my car was still sitting there with no work done to it in the same parking stall I left it in. But 2 different females came in and his attitude and demeanor towards them was like night and day. One got an oil change and the other, I can't recall. They were helped and left out before me and a couple of other guys that have been waiting for a couple of hours. I waited on line to ask about an update and he blew me off to the side, before I even said a word, saying "it's not ready yet", to help the next customer. Fine, I go back to browsing and sitting down and patiently waiting. Another half hour goes by, at this time, I've been waiting over an hour and a half, I approach him, haven't said a word yet, and he immediately trying to blow me off again and I ask him how much longer, he proceeds to tell me, I already told you it's going to be about this long from the beginning and to leave your car. Well I'm sorry, I don't have another vehicle to just hop in and leave and go anywhere. So he then tell me, "about 10-15min", "next!", to help the next customer. I wait another half hour and I approach him again and of course he just flat out tells me "nothing yet like before". So I told him "let me have my keys, I'm leaving". The quick attitude change from being annoyed to home saying "OH, SURE NO PROBLEM" because he was happy to see me leave. After I left I thought about it and couldn't let this disgusting attitude and customer service not be put in check. So I called back and he was absolutely disgusting on the phone as well. I asked if I could have the managers name and contact information. He proceeded to ask me why I needed it, and I said because I am a customer requesting it. He then told me he doesn't know me and didn't want to give me the info. I told him I'm a concerned customer requesting the information, so he then tells me he's the manager. So I ask who he reports to and can I have their information. So he then proceeds to tell me that he reports to the regional manager and if I want that information to go to pepboys.com and find it myself and hung up on me. The nerve of this employee. I don't believe for one second he's the manager with that disgusting attitude, and if he is, he needs to be fired. Anyways, I've made a corporate complaint and can't wait to hear back from them and investigate this further. Honestly ... very upset with myself for even bringing my car to them knowing how money hungry this company is. OK so I drive a Honda Civic and I dropped it off because the car started overheating I figured OK maybe an electrical error or maybe the thermostat of course they call me hours after I drop the car off to tell me that I will have to pay them approximately $1200 to fix my car because it is not only the thermostat but they recommended changing the radiator as well. When the sales rep called I let him know that I could not afford to do both I asked him if I paid to fix the thermostat if the car would run OK for a week or two until I can fix the radiator he told me yes it would be no problem so now here I am only five days after I bought my car here and spent $300 and the car is still overheating I got a second opinion on the car and they told me to bring it back to Pep Boys that they installed a faulty thermostat. so of course I brung it back to Pep Boys letting them know I'm not sure what is wrong with the car I know that the radiator isn't doing the best but I was told the car would drive fine for 2 weeks until I pay to fix radiator. Well long story short they told me that it's now the water pump that's broken as well as radiator and the cap. $1550 to fix . When I was told the car would be ok to drive for 2 weeks... how horrific Ruined my whole week and wasted me 300$ down the drain thanks pep boys! I'd give u zero stars if I could read more

I made an appointment for an oil change at 5:30 pm. It was confirmed. I came in at 5:05 and waited in line for 10 mins. When it was my turn I was told, that "oh we were going to call you and say we do not have time for you." This was at 5:17. It was very unprofessional not to notify someone of the cancellation when they have arrive and within 10 mins of appointed time. 0 stars purchased tires in April. picked truck up and less than a mile down road back tire is loose and I loose control of truck. stranded in rain for an hour manager comes and puts lug nuts on tire that they left off. back to shop and all 4 wheels are scratched and gauges and studs stripped. they get me out and driving with promise of compensation and wheels being fixed. 2 weeks later I drop truck off for 2 days and get loaner. 6days later I get truck back and now have an almost $400 rental fee to pay on top of the $1200 I spent on tires. almost get killed and added expenses for the mistakes they made and had to contact the highest person I could in the region just to be insulted with a $350 refund from the store to offset some of the rental. I am insulted. A simple tire job turned in to a nightmare that never ended. over a month to get tires fixed from initial purchase and didn't see a dime until almost July. read more
