Why? because on THREE separate occasions the owner has treated me quite badly. 1- one time when I was shopping, I needed to use the ladies room. When I asked if I could use it (after seeing other customers go in and out) the owner said that customers are not permitted to use it. 2. This time the owner was at the register (a rare moment in my experience) he verbally abused me for the fact that I pulled an old receipt out of my purse and crumbled it up - and then I put it back in my purse - so no, I was not littering. 3. As I approached the door to enter the store and was struggling to open it due to a badly broken arm and back injury, the owner cut in front of me and slammed the door onto me. That was the last time for me. I am honestly surprised that they are still in business because I have met countless women who have also stopped whopping there after being treated badly by the owner. There are a myriad of other shopping venues that carry the herbs and other medicines and personal care products that I buy.

He showed me his coffee bean grinder in the back which was a huge help. Their prices are spendy but again, I go there for the convenience and because I really want to support my local store. When I walked in, immediately noticed a little box of gloves and a sign asking customers to wear them while shopping. As I reached for a pair, one of the people working behind the counter began to ask me to put on the gloves. Mid sentence, she realized that I am an A+ student and always follow directions. I took a look around I noticed a bunch of fresh produce close to the entrance. Along the right side were some refrigerators and freezers with a few items such as meat, cheese, ice cream, vegetables and some vegan items. I'm assuming they must've just had the lunch rush since there was only one vegan wrap and 2 or 3 pudding like desserts in there. On the sides of the refrigerators were some shelf stable items. Chips, bread, pastas, spices, nut butter and stuff like that. By the register they had a couple of fresh pastries, baked goods and then a few of your typical register type things like protein bars and candy. The place is actually a bit smaller than I would've thought based on the outside. They also have a lot less items than I thought they would, though that could be due to short supply with all the pandemic stuff going on. Since I didn't actually need anything and just came by to check out the place, I didn't wanna be rude so I bought a few things. A couple of bananas for the kiddo, some gluten free pasta and garlic for me and a couple of pastries for the Mrs. The only thing that would make this store even better is some organic items/produce and better gluten free options. They had a few good gf pastas, but the bread company they use is dry and literally tastes like cardboard. There's an amazing gf bakery (taffets) in the Italian market that would be a great addition to this place. You see on Tuesdays, Rowhouse bakes Pulla - the wonderful bread pastry from Finland. If you are like me, you will want to get your fix of Pulla because I only seem to get to Helsinki every few years and though I always have some Pulla to take with me when I leave Finland, it's gone in a couple of days. This cardamom infused sweet bread goes naturally with coffee or tea ... but as a Finnish friend in Vienna taught me, you can also make a tasty sandwich with it. Anyway, Rowhouse Grocery has fresh out-of-the-oven Pulla every Tuesday afternoon. Get there early or reserve ahead of time. p.s. They also make a killer orange upside-down cake. Even the "organic" section didn't inspire confidence and looked questionable at best. Noticeably better quality for organic at similar or lower prices at Aldi or Lidl. The worst part was the raspberries: every single one of the four containers I bought had mold growing in the bottom layers. That's not a minor quality issue - that's outright unacceptable for produce being sold for consumption. At that price point, it would have been more cost-effective to buy fewer, higher-quality containers at Whole Foods rather than four unusable ones Overall, the produce quality is extremely poor and freshness seems like an afterthought. I regret buying from here again, and I won't be making that mistake in the future.
