One word: wow! Need I say more? Despite being a non-cook yet I certainly know how to eat and dine well in spotting high quality cooking and prepartion. Move over Crate & Barrel and Williams-Sonoma as Fante's Kitchen Wares gargantuan with a culinary tools of the trade in nearly every form imaginable. My two very good friends who are self-proclaimed cooks were giving me a mini lesson on kitchen gadgets which many I have never encountered. Everywhere I browsed within Fante's there was always an associate ready, willing and able to assist with any questions without hesitation, without bothering their time. Price is reasonable without breaking the bank unlike Crate & Barrel or Williams-Sonoma. Culinary tools of the trade are just more than just a brand name but the use and functionally to conjure amazing delicious entrées in whisking guests/clients to nirvana. N.B. Patrons beware of the steep ramp when deceasing to the lower level as it was very steep.

Adorable stuff for kids! Makes such a unique, encouraging gift!

Fantes is fantastic and surprisingly huge restaurant supply store right on 9th Street in the middle of The Italian Market. Everything you could ever want is here!! And everything you don't need, but suddenly feel compelled to purchase is also here! This place is the best for anyone...amateur chefs, actual business owners in Philly get their goods here, and for those who swear if they just buy the fancy gadget they will automatically become chefs. It's really amazing all that they carry here! Beyond your wildest dreams. When you first walk in you see insanely gorgeous copper pots!! I must get one soon! Pretty pricey in general, but so amazing. The kinds of item you pass down. When I finally make the big purchase, I'm coming here! There's such a great variety! Making your way to the back you pass high quality marble mortal & pestle sets which are to die for! So gorgeous you'll want to keep them out on the counter all of the time...and should! Oh, and then there's the back room. I could spent hours in there alone! All of your baking and serving needs met. Funky shaped waffle makers, gorgeous Tuscan platters imported from Italy, at least a hundred cookie cutters of all shapes and sizes including Mickey Mouse and other characters for the kiddies. I personally fell for a Russian doll set. Then there's the back wall filled with my beloved decanters I purchase here. They are a nice alternative to a pitcher, take up way less room, and add a sleek yet vintage feel to the table. So many shapes and sizes are available here! All totally reasonably priced. My favorite picks in the store are definitely the kiddie printed aprons ($13-$17), mini rolling pins ($6), funky cookie cutters, and cupcake toppers. I just envisioned my girls and myself in the kitchen with dirty hands kneading dough, laughing and making a floury mess in our kitchen. I think a few of these items wrapped up for a child makes just the sweetest little unique gift! Fantes is for both professional chefs and those who want to feel like one. A fun place to visit either way, and a classic stop in the Italian Market.

This same woman has been rude/ unfriendly to me on multiple occasions. I usually never leave the store without spending at least $100. When I told her the crackers I bought yesterday for a dinner party were expired she just looked at me with a fake smile and said she had them recently and that is how they are supposed to taste. I spent three months in Italy and never have I tasted something so stale. I was explaining to her how awful they were and no I would not like another bag. She just kept saying I'm sorry and smiling. No refund, and unwilling to say the customer is right. Will not be returning there.

You have to literally log on to their website the minute the classes are posted and reserve a spot immediately. We got married in May and have been trying to use our gift certificate ever since. It was worth the wait! Our event was hosted by The Royal Chef (Darren McGrady). He cooked for 5 US Presidents in addition to the Queen of England and her family. Needless to say, he didn't disappoint. Not only was the food he created fantastic, but he was personable and super funny. There were 16 people total (which is the max for the space) and we enjoyed observing Darren and learning new techniques. The wrap-around counter ensures that eveyone has a bird's eye view. We loved every minute of it. Our menu included: - Blueberry, Feta and Kale Salad - Chili and Garlic Crusted Shrimp with Double Cheese Grits - Minute Steaks with Blue Cheese, Caramelized Onions, and Cannellini Bruschetta - Sticky Toffee Pudding with Clotted Cream The staff at Cook is top-notch. Never an empty wine nor water glass, and plates were delivered and cleared with the quickness. It was a casual, social, and fun setting. This is not a hands-on culinary event, rather, this is an event where you sit back, relax, and watch your chef work their magic. You don't have to lift a finger and that's the way I like it! You can purchase kitchen gadgets and goodies at this location at a 15% discount on the day of your event. Cook offers something for everyone. Some of the events are pricey, but there are some that are more budget-friendly. Check it out and be sure to work those quick-typing fingers to reserve a fun class fast!

He was very kind, offering great cooking suggestions and conversation. He really knew his stuff, not only about his offerings but the local food scene in Philly. We were not in the market for some of his industrial cooking equipment such as deep fryers, meat slicers, ovens and wood fire pizza gear and such, but my daughter who is obsessed with cooking BEGGED to stop in. We were pleasantly surprised to find some fun cooking gadgets, utensils and food prep equipment in the back...at a steal, too! We bought a 6 pack of plastic squeeze bottles for oils and icings cheaper than buying them one at a time any where else! We bought ladles in a few sizes...some small enough for pancake mix dropping and others for hot pots at home. A really nice variety! We bought heavy duty spatulas and large brushes for marinating. The goods were excellent quality you won't see at big box stores and I'm still so impressed with the prices! It's definitely worth checking them out if you're even the slightest bit into cooking. We felt like kids in a candy store. There's a few 30 minutes loading zones in the area and one directly out front. They do take cards, even for the smaller purchase and the cashier was also very welcoming and kind. A fun stop I can see making again! We love, and are having fun cooking with everything we bought!

The overall purpose of the market is to feel full, and to feel like one of hundreds of people. And there are so many visitors around lunchtime and later. The walkways between the various cafes, bakeries, and food spots wer streams and rivers of hungry people. So many options of local Pennsylvanian delicacies were available, and seating was plentiful. There was a main seating area in the middle of the market, where you could see classes of high school students being lectured by teachers, workers on their lunch hour nibbling on a snack, and tourists and visitors frantically looking at all the visual splendor and fragrant cookery. Each individual business in the market has something to contribute to the overall experience. If you are close to the market, I recommend going during breakfast, lunch, and dinner to see the difference in food options. I also recommend going before lunch because it is usually a little less packed. Parking is going to be a hassle, so find parking where you can, and try to walk there!
