This is a favorite place to shop for spices. I love their community minded values and how they spread the love. It seems like they always have a great special each month. They share a large parking lot with other businesses. The staff at this location are quite helpful. A little goes a long way because they are so much stronger/more flavorful than anything you'll buy from the big national brands. They have great mixes, a nice variety of imported offerings and although the prices are high, you get what you pay for. If you sign up for the mailing list, they also offer up a lot of great deals to offset the prices. The store itself is well laid out and the staff is always kind and helpful. As an aside, If you look closely at the negative reviews, the vast majority are not due to quality. It's red hat wearing individuals disagreeing with the store's philosophy and the owner's political ideals that are included in the newsletters. read more

My mom has been telling me about this place and I finally got to visit. I really could've been in there for hours, but only had 30 minutes to browse and buy holiday gifts. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Wow. They really do have everything! And they even section everything off so it's easier to browse. Penzeys Spices has been around for a long time. They have high quality spices and a large variety. The prices are high, but the quality is good. The store is clean and the staff is friendly. They do have a wonderful discount program with specials frequently. They notify you of these by email. However, I had to stop the emails because with the Ads that are sent, Mr. Penzey also includes his political opinion in all of the emails. In this day and age I don't want someone else's political views forced on me when I am just trying to buy spices. And he is very animate about his opinions. This is the reason for the 3 stars: high cost and bad behavior . Otherwise if you just go into the store to buy (and don't sign up for emails) it will be fine. The staff in the store are friendly, and if you don't mind paying a higher price for quality spices,s then this is the place to go. read more

I don't even care what party they support, as that is their choice, but I cannot shop at a place who would be so unprofessional to shame people like this. This is a corporate chain, and the last time I was actually able to get into the store, it felt like it. Their products are no better than you can get at a grocery store, yet they are much more expensive. I have always enjoyed shopping at Penzey's. I use your spices in most of what I cook. I want to tell you of an experience I had recently. A friend of mine came into town who doesn't have a store close to her. We went to the Penzeys in Maplewood. The lady who was there was rude when she answered the door. She told us to go and place our order on line. That she really was not supposed to be talking to us at all. So I told my friend that most of the time my Penzey's experience was really great and I was sorry she had to encounter this rude person. read more

When I can shop in store, Penzey's has everything that I need and more. Shopping there is always a learning experience as the spices, some I've never heard of, have descriptions. But, shopping during covid leaves something to be desired. All that is available is "curbside" pick up. I put that in quotes because you have to leave your car and go the door to pick up. They are fast to stick a bag outside the door and lock the door. Calling to let them know you're there is an issue as well. The number is not visible from parking spaces and pulling up and even temporarily parking in front of store isn't a good choice as it's a major driving area at a busy strip mall. So if you park in the parking spaces, you cannot see the number to call. Heaven forbid they are on the phone because your call will go to voice mail. Customer service is just not there. I should wait until the store actually reopens to return because every trip there during covid is a frustrating experience. read more

Had a very positive experience with Penzeys both from gifts via online purchases and also at the brick and mortar location here at THF Blvd. They really have everything you could need spicewise, and then some. I renewed some of my dried spices. Grabbed some Fenugreek which I can't find anywhere else in town, and got some extra spicy dried pepper flakes. The ladies at the counter were nice enough to throw in two small containers of dried shallots. They had tons of extracts and spice for baking as well as spice mixes for many purposes. Luckily they also had a small section for kids to sit and color with crayons which helped while dad walked around gawking at the selection of goodies. Might become my go to spice store?!?! read more

I heart Penzys. Customer service is super. I love just walking in and asking an employee what their new favorite spice is and buying it. You GOTTA sign up for their eclub because they constantly have a coupon for a free spice with purchase. Don't walk in the store without their eclub coupons! Do I love Penzey's? Well, I custom built a spice rack specific to the size of the Penzey's bottles that can hold almost 125 bottles. And it is nearly full - almost exclusively with Penzey's products. I think you could say I love them. Their product AND their social and political views. If companies like Home Depot, Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-a can be vocal about their support for the right, Penzey's has the same right to support good sense. They have my support for the rest of my life. read more

Penzey's has some truly wonderful spices. They also have some unique blends. I am a huge fan of their Northwoods seasoning. However they do occasionally disappoint. There are a few things I would like that I have to go elsewhere to find like truffle salt or smoked sea salt and they could use some new blends as some taste pretty similar. That does not mean I am not a fan but I gave them a four because there is always room for improvement. I do love the new Chesterfield store and its a lot easier for me to get too. read more

This is the only place I buy my spices anymore. The first time I went in a Penzey's was in Houston Texas. This new location is on my route to my daughter's, perfect. I love going in this store and I buy a lot. My only question is when my daughter recently visited this store with me, she wasn't prepared and didn't bring a coupon from her magazine with her. She was told even if she made a purchase she could not receive a free sample spice without the coupon. That didn't make sense since she was making a purchase and her info from a previous purchase should be in the system and she does receive the magazine but she was told no. She is new to Penzey's, I introduced her to it since the grand opening. This didn't leave a good taste in her mouth, no pun intended. read more
