Jonathan Howard came out to inspect some possible sump pump issues we were experiencing. We thought we had a pretty good idea of what might be going on. Mr. Howard did such an awesome job on quickly locating the issues and then finding likely causes that we didn't even consider. Not only are we thankful for the vast knowledge that he portrayed and really opened our eyes to, but I'm very confident in saying he saved us $$$$$ thousands in repair bills down the road. We are very fortunate to have found this company that still operates on the basis of work ethic and honesty read more

Just finished a 2 week closing on a condo in Lisle. We were only given a day by the seller to find an inspector and have it done the next day, which meant having to finesse someone's schedule (or pay more). Once I found Jonathan, he was willing to take on extra hours outside of his work schedule to get this done. We booked him that same say, however, we did not even know until minutes before the allotted time if we were able to go in or not. Regardless, Jonathan still showed up on time. Once we got in, he thoroughly checked everything in the space. He made sure to walk me through each aspect and had suggestions on what I could do to improve it/the price point of changing things. Also, did a full write up on basically everything in the house, and included annotated photos. Very very happy with Jonathan's work. The price for the services is beyond reasonable for all the detail and flexibility that was put into this process. Would rebook in the future with no hesitation. Would highly reccomend for my own family and friends. read more

I highly recommend Pentagon Inspections. I would like to preface everything by stating that it was not even my house that was being inspected. I was accompanying my friend who was using them for his home purchase. I was actually in the middle of taking home inspection courses myself and wanted to see an inspection in action. Jonathan, the inspector was not only okay with me hanging around, but went out of his way to answer all my questions despite the fact I was not his client. He went above and beyond the standards and gave my friend a very detailed report which he was able to use to get some good concessions frim the sellers. Jonathan did not rush anything and there was no stone left unturned. I learned a lot from following him around and would highly recommend this company to any future home buyers. read more

Jonathan was just what we needed when we had to determine a course of action to address our roof leakage issues. We had previously met with roofing contractors who were recommending costly repairs. We needed an independent, non-biased inspector to determine what was truly needed. Over the course of the inspection, Jonathan diagnosed the problem and steered us away from some unnecessary work. Definitely was worth it! read more

Jonathan is professional, knowledgeable and responsive. We used him as part of the inspection team for a house in Evanston. His thoroughness revealed a number of big issues with the house we were considering. In the end we walked away and we consider this a win as after the inspection we knew we were looking at a money pit. Since that first interaction, I've had several property related questions for Jonathan. He is always responsive and explains things in a way that it is understandable. I highly recommend him! read more

Jonathan Howard performed an extremely thorough inspection of a condo we're buying, spotting things we needed to know about the 100-year-old property while also giving us a sense of assurance that we were making the right move. Highly recommend! read more

We sold our beloved home about a year ago. The buyers had John Howard from Pentagon Inspection services inspect our home. He was so remarkably thorough and professional. We are now buying a home, and the first call we made was to John Howard. He did another amazingly thorough and professional and efficient inspection accompanied by a detailed written report. We are so grateful to him. read more

I have used Jonathan's home inspection services on two separate home purchases, a condo unit and a 100 year old house. His inspections and walk throughs are very thorough and exceptional. His services have been a tremendous asset to the house buying process. He is incredibly knowledgeable about every facet of home quirks and features, is always up-to-date on code issues/changes in the chicago and chicago suburbs. He is exceptionally responsive, kind, and clearly enjoys providing his service. I highly recommend Jonathan Howard for your inspection needs, his work will provide multiples in return, and I highly recommend that the buyers walk through with Jonathan as he will provide a wealth of information about your new home! read more

John did an amazingly thorough job on our home inspection. We were unable to attend the inspection and his detailed notes and phone calls painted a picture of the house's status very well. He also supplied a lot of photos of every area he inspected. As an extra bonus, he works with a sewer inspector, so you do not have to book a separate party for that inspection. read more

John came highly recommended and did not disappoint. He was friendly, thorough, and genuinely seemed to care. He caught things that were also possibly life saving! If you are looking for an inspector who is an expert, keeps their word, and is timely, look no further. read more

Jonathan did a very thorough home inspection for us. I am one of those people who prefers to get my own home inspector rather than use agent's one to get a more independent review. I found jonathan to be (1) very thorough - he identified a whole host of issues large and small, (2) pragmatic - he prioritized which were the most urgent issues and which had the highest cost potential, (3) professional - he showed up early to get a head start on the exterior before anyone else arrived, then worked largely on his own, but stopped on each floor to show me the major issues. He was also balanced, while he identified a number of issues with the home he also identified its strengths like good brickwork and foundations. His report was likewise very thorough and included useful photographs. After the inspection he called me up to see if I had any questions. Overall we were very pleased with his review and would definitely use him again or recommend to others. read more

Showed up masked and was very efficient and thorough and after walked us through the entire condo with a full explanation on everything and even went above and beyond to perform inspections that most don't do. Even said he would clarify any questions we have on our report so we fully understand it. read more

Jon was super helpful and was really patient when we followed up with him on details on the home inspection reports even after months. I highly recommend him! read more

I had a great experience working with Jonathan, I highly recommend him and use him again. He inspected and walked me around to show me all of the issues and concerns. He clearly explained the issues directly to me and did not focus on what my realtor or the developer had to say. Thoroughly explaining the issues, how to potentially remedy it, and if he thought it was worth the hassle. I felt complete trust, honesty, and transparency from him and his partner. The inspection report was received quickly, extremely detailed, and he called me to walk me through it. Thank you for a great experience! read more

Jonathan was a great house inspectors and also generous with his time. He assisted us in inspecting our house that we are purchasing in Northbrook, IL. The home was a century old, a lot of inspection to be done. I was very pleased with his service and expertise. He reviewed with us his findings on the spot during and after the inspections in details. He climbed up in the big attic room and inspect it throughly to find some improper installation of things that could jeopardize the structure of the house. Also, he uses drone to inspect the condition of the roof. I would highly recommend him and use his service again in the future. His price was slightly more than the competition but worth the money. He does some extra inspections compared to the other inspectors. read more

What a great experience we had with Jonathan Howard. His VERY thorough inspection, service and expertise made the process not so scary and his review of each item on the site made understanding the final report so much easier. An added plus was his sense of humor when some things with the condition of the home didn't go as we expected. (like when leaky upstairs bathtubs make it rain in the dining room downstairs!) He made several discoveries that likely saved us thousands of dollars down the road. We sincerely recommend Jonathan to anyone going through the often harrowing experience of buying a home. Thanks Jonathan! Jim & Scott read more

Jon did a fantastic job inspecting my future condo. He was thorough and professional, explaining what/why he was inspecting in detail when he went through the whole condo. He paid even closer attention to the parts that I was most concerned about and answered and provided me recommendations when needed. He was also able to provide me a very detailed and thorough report within a day upon my urgent request since I needed it ASAP for my closing. In all I am very satisfied with Jon's service! Totally worth the fees to get a trustworthy inspection that would ease your mind for buying a place. read more

Jonathan and his team did an impeccable job, not only in inspecting the entire house, but also explaining in great detail our options to mitigate and fine tune as the future home owners. Along with that, he also provided a detailed report of all the findings with pictures so that we can fix any small problems at our own pace. Pentagon was very polished and professional, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

Jonathan and his drone fly high. Pentagon inspection is as good as it gets. I have no hesitation in suggesting Jonathan to any prospective buyer. He was right on time on the day of inspection, got on with his work and inspected everything thoroughly-right from the light bulb in attic to the wiring of the washer/ dryer, to draining in the bath tubs and to the slope of the steps in the entrance. Finally, Jonathan took his drone out and flew it over the roof to see if there were any broken shingles or debris. After his inspection, he walked me through the house again to explain me all the issues. He also gave us a 30 page detailed report within the 5 business days outlining all the issues that he had pointed out originally, with pictures and also explaining how it could be mitigated. I would recommend Jonathan and his fee was totally worth for the service that he had offered us. read more

John was on time and very polite and professional. Real great guy! He's very thorough and has a keen eye. I thought he had great insight into the property and highlighted things that would have been brushed over. I would whole heartedly recommend this business and would retain John's services again in the future. read more

Jonathan Howard has inspected multiple homes for us, most recently a 1949 brick Gerogian. His inspections were very detailed, and he took the time to explain every detail (and answer each question we had). His report includes pictures and verbiage, along with recommendations on how we should take care of our home. Basically, his home inspection report has become the basis for a manual/checklist for all of the items we should stay on top of as we maintain our home. It is in the same folder where we keep our appliance manuals, etc. I have highly recommended Jonathan to both family members and my own work colleagues, who have hired Jonathan and also been very pleased. read more
