I found this company through Google and Yelp. I chose them becasue of the number of positive reviews. I am happy to report that this company lives up to its reviews. I contacted Home Inspection Star and they responded within a couple of hours. This is not my first time buying a home, but I had gotten a poor inspection on my last home purchase and knew what to look for this time. We scheduled an appointment quite quickly and efficiently. I met my inspector Arry at the house. He was already there prior to our agreed upon time and had been already inspecting and taking pictures of the outside of the home. Immediately I was impressed. This was a newer home and I did not anticipate many issues with the home. Arry was very thorough in his inspection and did NOT rush through the house, as my previous home inspector had done. He took his time and did notice a few issues with the home that I would want to consider having looked at. None of it was major, but a couple of things were worked out in the negotiations process. I received my final report the morning after our inspection. That was thoroughly impressive, as timing is of essence when dealing with a real estate contract! From the initial appointment contact to working with Arry at the house, I was very impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail of this company. I don't plan on doing any more moving any time soon, but if I do I will keep this company in mind and I will definitely refer them to my friends who will be buying a new home soon. As a buyer, I called Costel for an inspection before going forward with a short sale. There was a tricky factor involved, the premises was occupied by a tenant who did not respond to the sellers phone calls or messages. I knew I needed a real nice guy who can communicate with the tenant and navigate around any obstacles. I personally arranged the inspection with the tenant. When Costel came in, he was great in communicating and diffused a potentially problematic situation. He was very nice able to befriend the previously uncooperative tenant and got a lot of information from her. I recommend that you accompany Costel throughout the inspection, it will be an educational experience and you can get the lowdown on everything. The inspection report is really a formality and required to be written according to certain standards thus difficult to truly understand on its own. For example if there is a suspicion of mold, he is required to write that "there may be mold and you should bring a mold specialist" instead of really describing the severity of it. To get the complete picture and for the "between me-and-you" type of information you should be next to him during the inspection. He's really a great guy who enjoys educating the client beyond what's required to disclose. Oh, by the way he charged less than other inspectors that I called and he sent a report the my email on the same day. Great job Costel, keep up the great work. read more

Buying a home can be stressful enough - trust me when I say THERE IS NO ONE BETTER!!! This guy is by far the best. He is thorough, he is honest, he KNOWS his stuff. He was on time, he is smart, he found an electrical issue in my home, as well as other piping issues. He has access to infrared gadgets, and other neat tools that I as well as my best friend (b/c everyone knows we all need a support system during the stressful process of purchasing a home) were impressed with. He got on the roof with his ladder even though it was getting dark. He is professional, he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable he is all about the buyer. I like the way he walked thru and informed me of what was going on, let me know, hey - this issue is minor, this issue is major, etc., My realtor gave him a hard time b/c he just wanted to get the sale over with but Costel was all about honest cold hard facts. I even called him back for a second inspection after the work was supposed to be done by the seller. Buying my first home; this is a big purchase, and it is better to be safe than sorry. My fiancé and I are purchasing our first house and chose Home Inspection Star to do the inspection based on positive reviews. First off we found their pricing to be very competitive and beat several other quotes. As far as the actual inspection we couldn't be happier. Tom went through the property from top to bottom literally. He opened every window, checked every door, and every outlet. From the roof to the attic to the basement and garage top to bottom. He also took the face plate off of the electric panel to make sure it really was wired and grounded correctly. He also checked every appliance and every drain and pipe for leaks noting a few minor problems. He was very detailed in his inspection and pointed out everything that he thought needed attention wether it be immediately or at some point in the future if we were to close on the house. The home owners also said they couldn't believe how detailed he was in his inspection and said they need his business card for future home purchases! This is a follow up of HIS retort. The cry of fake news beats to a hollow drum. I paid $550.00 for these fools to inspect a house which I intended to buy. They inspected it. They were capable of a finding diverted drain leaking, a toilet needing securing, a torn screen and other small defects. Evidently this is the top of their game. They missed rodent infestation, an air conditioner that failed ten days later and a chimney that was in disrepair. In short $20,000.00 of repair. I am in possession of their worthless report as well as the assessments and repairs of these three missed defects. All I had wanted was for them to admit fault and refund $550.00. Now I hope to save other people from being victimized by inept inspectors. It is true that I am new to yelp. I am a senior citizen and joined yelp to praise the people who have done good repair work for me and my wife. She is the one who wrote the other so called fake review on HIS. What these liars are claiming is that two competitors are writing negative reviews. Truth is, it is an outraged wife, and now a husband new to yelp writing. The truth be told. Costel was extremely easy to get a hold of. We set up a date for an inspection and he was there punctional. He was very thorough with his inspection inside and out of the home. He was easy - going and truly knew what he was talking about. He was polite and quite informative. The inspection report was delivered on time and as expected was detailed. We had a home inspection with Costel on a fairly new 3 level townhome. Costel was prompt on questions we had before the inspection. The inspection itself went smoothly with a fairly new home.
