Worked with Home Inspection Star, more precisely with Costel. He was very knowledgeable and thorough with his inspection , answered questions and made pertinent recommendations while explaining all the findings. The report was issued very fast , with another invite to contact for discussion and explanation if things in the report were not clear for the client. Will definitely work again with them should the occasion arise. read more

Costel was complete, found things I never thought about and looked in places I wouldn't have looked. With a report that same afternoon, I was pleased and impressed. read more

Extremely Disappointed with Castel Home Inspection Inspected a house from the 1950s -- I expected many issues to be flagged. Instead, Castel focused on minor details like: Shower glass not being tempered Missing GFCI outlets in the kitchen and bathroom Major issues Castel completely missed: Multiple active leaks in the foundation Mold in the basement crawl space Clogged line and leaking bathtub Shower leak Broken oven ignition Toilet improperly installed -- wobbly and leaking Other issues: After the inspection, Castel called to raise the price from $500 to $550 because he had to go into the crawl space -- something that should have been expected from the start. I forgot to write this review until I had to replace a bathtub faucet today ($450) because hot water wasn't flowing properly -- a problem Castel never mentioned. Bottom line: Castel's incompetence has easily cost me over $10,000 in repairs. Would not recommend. At all. read more

Costel was recommended to us by our real estate agent for the inspection of our new home. I don't even remember who did the inspection of our townhome when it was purchased, and I'm really glad Stephanie recommended Home Inspection Star. Owning a single family home is different than owning a townhome, and I wanted someone with great attention to detail and a keen eye since I had no clue what to look for. He provided us a booklet to help us with home maintenance which is super helpful since I don't even know what to look for. He was thorough, it took maybe an hour and a half, and he helped me feel more confident in the purchase. Happily recommended. read more

Alex was great! Was very thorough in the inspection, noting things that were low priority, high priority, and possible maintenance issues down the road. When finished with the inspection he also did a walk through with us so we could note items for later. Definitely would recommend. read more

This guy is in bed with the Realtors. Do not trust him at all. He said my roof was good and it failed within 90 days. My sump pump also went bad the day I moved in after he said it was good. I am now out over $10,000. Please read his reviews on Google. He gets a bad review and always says it's a competitor. Not an honest guy. read more

As a first time home buyer, there are myriad of things to know about buying a home. The process is at first daunting, but with a great team behind me and my husband, the process is becoming a learning experience. The first house Costel inspected for us had major problems that we did not think about while touring the house. Costel meticulously explained to me the things that must be repaired or replaced prior to closing. I was following him around with multiple questions and concerns, but Costel calmly answered my questions without qualms and hesitations. He made me feel at ease and reminded me to look at things rationally. After seeing with my own eyes and reading the full inspection report, my husband and I made the decision to look for another house. Costel saved us from purchasing a "money pit" home, and we are extremely grateful for him. Thankfully, we found another house and hired Costel immediately to inspect the house. If you want a thorough, trustworthy and knowledgable inspector, do not hesitate to call Costel. He's an outstanding one!!! P.S. We received the summary report the next morning. It helped us made a quick decision. read more

Great, professional, efficient, thorough! Dennis was my Inspector and he was actually really to my inspection and started with the exterior before we got there. He communicated perfectly any major concerns he had and explained solutions to those problems in a way that I understood without speaking in technical complicated terms. He searched high, low and ever nook and cranny of the house, above and below. The full report I recieved was easy to understand with explanations, pictures and videos, and provided a link to the appropriate professionals to help resolve any issues. Highly recommend this company especially if you want to fully understand how the process works and need help fixing your future house. read more

On time, great attention to details, very friendly and prompt reporting! couldn't have asked for more.

I am not writing a fake review on behalf of your competitor but it would be great if you could tell me who this competition is. I'm in need of a home inspector which I why I am revisiting this review. And I for darn sure won't be using you. I see that all you do is claim every bad review is an evil plot by your "competitor", which is who, please? read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The inspection was fine. However communication was not good. Afterwards I was not able to get in contact with the inspector. I called and emailed twice days apart to Costello and his inspector. Later Costel too me the inspector was out of town However he was copied on my emails as well and did not respond. Nor did the inspector reach out when he returned. Will not be using them again. I had to revise my review because shortly after they texted, harassing me telling me I'm unfair and only wanted to apologize because I gave them a bad review! This is absolutely unacceptable customer service. I called and emailed several times after my inspection and didn't get a response from my inspector. Now it's too late and they want to call and text me repeatedly because they're upset about the bad review. read more

Home Inspection Star - Home Inspectors Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Costel was recommended by our realtor and we were very happy with his inspection of the townhome we are purchasing. He had great communication from the moment the inspection was scheduled, and we found the results of his inspection very thorough. He also did a good job of explaining his results and keeping the findings private from the seller's realtor. We'd definitely use Home Inspection Star again for future inspections. read more

Incredibly thorough inspection, with super detailed photos and videos of every aspect of the unit. Honestly they'll be the only inspectors we use in the future. Very easy to schedule with as well. Couldn't recommend our inspector (Costel) more highly. read more

Costel did an amazing job with my home inspection. He checked every single outlet in the entire home. He opened up each furnace and the fuse box (screwed off the frame from the wall) to check the wiring. He checked the pipes on the boilers. He brought his ladder to climb into the attic and roof. He found a subtle area of moisture on my floor boards with his keen eye and then used a moisture meter to detect that it was freshly wet (it happened to be raining). He ran the dishwasher upon arriving and checked it at the end to make sure it worked properly. He thoroughly answered all of my questions and even gave me advice on how to keep up with good maintenance of the furnaces to extend their lifetime. It is evident that Costel takes pride in his work and he goes above and beyond to detect anything that may be faulty in the home. I highly recommend doing your home inspection with Costel! read more
