We were given a Hyundai Sonata and told, "It's on the far side of the lot." (More about that later.) I was not happy! Luckily, my husband drove our SUV and I was able to use the Sonata. The biggest problem was I couldn't get a straight answer if the company was charging us for the SUV (a higher priced vehicle) or the Sonata. Upon returning the vehicle, I said I wanted the correct price for the Sonata. Again, double-talk about changing inventory, availability due to "problems in the world." Notice the quote marks. That's what the (presumed) owner said. When I said, "I don't know what world problems have to do with renting a car," he left the room and slammed the door behind him. The saving grace for a 2-star review is the young woman who checked in the car. (I know, I'm generous.) She (supposedly) charged us the Sonata rate and applied a $20 discount. She did have to make a call to get approval to do that. I told her that was all I wanted and thanked her for her help. More about taking possession of the car: No introduction on how to use a car I've never driven. Unfamiliar gear shift, the control panel is all new to me. I spent about 20 minutes aquatinting myself with how to operate the car. I did enter my phone so I could use Car Play map. There were previous drivers shown on the screen. I asked to have my fake name removed from the list and was told that would be taken care of by the technician. Right. Do not trust this company to be fair or honest. Call ahead to confirm you will receive the vehicle requested. Or better yet, use a different company.

However I give the Uhaul app and website a 1* rating because it does not work. I dropped off my van after this location was closed but I was unable to close out the rental because the location finder doesn't work. If you can't verify location you can't get past the first screen and effectively it is impossible to process the return. UHaul does not offer a paper backup and did not check the lockbox the next morning for my keys. I should not have to return to location the next morning to ensure proper closeout. So overall a great location so long as you don't drop off after hours.

After spending 20 minutes digging around to figure it out - then taking all kind of license and face pictures - I get random calls from 1800 to verify I added alternate driver. Alright finally moving also - back to app - now signing. How do I get the key is the next question? How do I find my truck? Even more fun. We have a proprietary TM number that's stickers on the trucks. But guess what! No truck on the lot has a matching TM number?! After pricing around the other shops in the area, we decided on these guys. So yesterday afternoon we stopped by and rented their last one available. Awful experience. We…read morebooked a truck for pickup at this location. The day before our reservation, we received a call from the Dublin location to tell us our truck would be ready. We were surprised, as we had not booked at Dublin - the guy responded "oh, they must have forwarded the reservation to us." Since when can you just forward a reservation from one location to another WITHOUT EVER INFORMING THE CUSTOMER??? But, we needed a truck so we agreed. Today, we drove to the Dublin location to pick it up at the scheduled pickup time. While I am standing in line at the store, the U-Haul rep calls me to tell me that they do not have the truck I need because whoever has it decided to keep it an extra day. So now I have to go to Livermore for a truck. Ridiculous. Get to Livermore - no truck. But they will give me a van. Which is not what I wanted, but I am a bit at their mercy because I actually have to move some stuff today, so agreed. They did say that they would work with us on discounts because of all the trouble - however, when we returned the van that evening (at 6, so not that late), it took a good 45 mins to return - which was exceptionally annoying. Also, they couldn't figure out how to do any of the things they had promised. In the end, I recommend staying away. Sure, you can get a van to shlep around your stuff from here - but decent customer service? Keep looking.

They couldn't solve the issue on the call, so Roger came out right away to the house and fixed it! It's an employee owned company and it shows. My husband thought we were saving money by renting a truck from here vs uhaul so when I went in at 4pm to pick up my truck, the people at the counter said 'you were supposed to be here at 8am! We don't have a truck for you!' My husband called to confirm the time (4pm) and made a reservation for a truck which I think they gave away to the people who were in line ahead of us. They didn't even bother calling us to tell us that there wasn't a truck available! One of the men behind the counter then called around and found a truck at the San Ramon location, which was a Home Depot and they were even worse! We ended up spending a lot more money than we thought and what we were originally quoted. It was an awful experience and the people who work there are really unprofessional. I would not recommend this place at all!!! There's a uhaul place down the street and we should have just rented from there instead of wasting our time and money!
