Penny's diner

I stumbled upon an original 50s style diner. Locally owned, not some big conglomerate. Open 24 hours even. I'm of the older generation and this diner brought back wonderful memories. The food was exactly as these old diners would be prepared and served as if it was half a century ago. Had an enjoyable conversation with the cook as my meal was prepared. Sampled the cook's own variation of green chili. It was fantastic. A thank you to the staff for a great experience. I will definitely stop again for the food and atmosphere.

Two wait staff sitting up front hasnt checked on anyone in the restaurant for over 30 minutes

getting three stars because of the line cook. He booked his butt off. Cooking plating and serving the meals. There were three other employees other then him getting a one drink and taking order did nothing else. Never checked after food was served just sat at front talking while the line cook ran his butt off. This was after the concert at Cheyenne frontier days so it was busy and they left him to work alone. The line cook saved the night. Food was good comfort foods

It was decent. Quality/taste was what you'd expect of an American dinner like this. Could've been a little more "clean" though... menus were kinda dirty and a pair of silverware also was. But it wasn't bad. They even had offered these really big brownies for only $2 at the counter when we paid.

My milk shake. Peanut butter and chocolate

Was a little slow, but worth the wait. Large portions, and quite tastey. I will stop again if I get back to Cheyenne

Definitely a "greasy" spoon to say the least, but good food and decent service, provided it is not full of drunks waiting for cabs...

Very lovely drinks and experience. Also the ginger molasses cookie was warm and incredible. The environment just seems so warm and inviting. We called ahead of time to make sure there was no live music for my hard of hearing grandma and they were very sweet. Their card machine went down while we were there and I spoke with the owner while she was trying to fix it and I could really tell how much love she pours into this shop. She was so apologetic and talked about how stressed she was. She was very helpful and I appreciated how helpful she was especially when my grandma asked about a niche tea.

Everyone who works there is warm, kind, and has a ton of knowledge to share when it comes to teas and essential oils. They carry a huge range of loose leaf tea blends, healing herbs, and unique gifts, along with tea sets, books, and little treasures you won't find anywhere else. The food menu had a great selection as well! They offer gluten free choices, which I really appreciated. I ended up getting the gluten free brownie and you can't tell it's gluten free! So decadent and chocolatey. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease. Such a charming tea spot in downtown Cheyenne. Would love to come back!

I'm surprised I could stop myself mid-white-chilli to share this review. IT'S THAT GOOD & this is…read morefrom a long time Bread Basket connoisseur. The chilli sent me straight here, because I need to share this goodness with the world. Those little ladies home-make & bake everything. As a Cheyenne resident everybody knows about the bread basket, so for those around here is your reminder; and for those passing through & like white chili, cabbage burgers, breakfast burritos, white chili and like being SMACKED in my face with sweet smell of sugar, sweets & baked pastries when you walk in - then maybe it's time you add this stop as your next afternoon lunch break or on your families early morning out (you can call ahead & have country gravy or bacon/egg burritos made for pick up!!!!), or as your next friends birthday or bbq sweet treat. Everything is is made fresh & when they are out, they are out. So if it's a special stop or you're thinking ahead - I would call an order in the night before! Seriously how many bakeries do you know that you can call at 10:00 am and ask them for a German chocolate cake slice for your 74 year old neighbor, and they are out so they make you a personal cupcake for $7 and it's ready by 1??? JUST THE BREADBASKET! They have early hours, so plan ahead! Items I can promise will be delicious: white chili (obviously), country gravy burritos, sloppy joes, any type of granola, strudels, and German chocolate cupcakes... but that is just from my experience. Might need to go buy some cookies now. Thank you ladies for feeding Cheyenne!!!!!!!! Ps not a lot of seating, but there are parks close by! :)
