We were here on 10/07/2015 (for the second time). The first time was a few years prior and the food was ok. This time though it was quite good and I was very pleased. We came back because it is one of the very few 24 hour locations that we found. My wife liked the burger she ordered. I ordered the steak and was surprised that it was really good. In fact it was one of the better ones that I had on our trip. Yes, it came out of a vacuum sealed bag and placed on the grill but it was well seasoned and not dry. This was disgusting. I cannot believe they haven't been shut down by the health department. SO Dirty, no sanitary practices. The place and grill looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The food was unacceptable. I don't know how you simultaneously burn and undercook a pancake, but they did it. I ordered an omelet and the veggies were raw as well as the egg. I couldn't eat it. I wouldn't have even given them a star if It would let me. I went in for a shake to go. I was never welcomed when i came in. The waitress acted if i was imposing. There were two other people behind the counter neither said anything to me. When I paid there was no thank you or anything. I sort of got a racist vibe. It's the only explanation I can think of. I will never go there again. And the shake wasn't even that good. My brother owns a restaurant and I know how Yelp can hurt your reputation. This is the first one I've ever done. One person being rude I can understand but none of them were friendly at all so I can clearly see a pattern or group behavior. I really didn't want to give this place a bad review. It appears everyone likes this place. Cool place (in a sketchy location...next to a dump of a motel) and great wait staff. Food was just mediocre. Maybe we just caught them at a bad time. I ordered a simple BLT with fries. When I received the sandwich, it was open faced exposing my pathetic few pieces of bacon (two, possibly three pieces). Like another review stated, the presentation seemed weird. You don't go to places like this for presentation though. It was just a pathetic BLT, that might have the worst I've had in quite some time. The person I was with, their plate was just as sad. We arrived at 10pm for dinner which is not a busy dinner time, we didn't get our food till 11:10pm, we didn't get our WATER till 11:15pm, we had to ask for everything including a napkin, a fork, our check... the food wasn't cooked fully(chicken), the service was very very slow, the place was beyond dirty that I was scared to even eat. This is where you check in for the oak tree Inn. We broke down towed to the freightliner repair. They provided us with a list of hotels that will accept com check. They have a shuttle, the driver was of the shuttle was very nice. Got us to the oak tree inn. Our room was clean very comfortable two people was a little under $80.00. The only complaint I have is the water pressure was less than what you get from a water hose and the pillows needed replacing. Six pillows in the room to three to make it the height to support the neck then it was as hard as folded sheets stacked, room was quiet . A guy I work with kept telling me I needed to try Penny's Diner, and I did today. I'm glad I did too. I had the big breakfast they have, with Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Hash browns and Pancakes. I could barely finish it all. The food all had amazing flavor and the portions were amazing. The pancakes took up the entire plate. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak, and it was amazing also, and about the size of a small hubcap. The workers there were joking around and having fun as they worked, which made it even better. People who enjoy their jobs provide much better service. This is one of the best places to eat in Cheyenne, and I recommend it to everyone. read more

Just had lunch here, if i could give it 0 I would. Place is not what we expected. Food, if you can call that food, was mediocre. Seems like they just reheated the hamburger patty and tossed it on a bun. The lettuce and tomatoes and onions were probably a week old, stale. Turkey sandwich was probably one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. Food presentation is non existant. You are better of going to Dennys. We believe the root of the problem with the food is whoever is the cook, they should put more effort into preparing a meal. Waitress was nice, but that's all. Stay away from this place!!! read more

I think this place is adorable. As you step through the metal doors and see an open kitchen line with a bar and comfy booths, the you instantly feel transported back 60 years. The waitstaff was typical for a diner. Not overly friendly, but prompt and they do a fantastic job. They're not there to make friends but rather to make customers happy with efficient service. Take it for what it's worth! The menu is also very typical for a diner... And there's nothing wrong with that! If you're looking for gourmet, this isn't the place. If you want food that tastes like homemade cooking, this is the place! I ordered the skillet breakfast and a side of green chili to smother it with. YUM. This a cheap little diner put in for the railroaders that stay in the neighboring hotel. The food is cheap all the way around, low prices, low quality. That being said, I would eat here over Denny's or IHOP any day. They have any variation of Coke that you could want, including chocolate. I was in Cheyenne for work and someone recommended that I try Penny's diner. I had been working 12+ hour days and was absolutely exhausted by the time dinner rolled around. Penny's was near my hotel so I stopped there to eat. It took me much longer than usual to comprehend what was on the menu. The waitress, Brooke, was oh so helpful - she told me what their best dishes were and she was just so nice. I ordered the club sandwich based off the recommendation of the guy at work and I wasn't disappointed. The sandwich was good. The fries needed salt, but that was easily remedied. My water glass was refilled promptly, which I very much appreciated. The diner overall is very small and looks very retro. It's open 24 hours a day. I was told they make a good breakfast too but didn't get the chance to try it on my short trip. Bottom line, if you're staying on this end of town and you don't like the usual boring chain restaurants, go to Penny's. It's different, it's fun, and the people are nice! AND they refill your water! Great dive diner in Cheyenne. Waitstaff was very nice and very local. This is what we were looking for during our visit. It is connected to a Trucker Hotel, which we did not stay at :), but added to the atmosphere. The cooks have jail house tatts and know how to put an omellette together. We have been here several times. The food is alright. The service is slow and there always seems to be some sort of excuse for things being slow. Today we sat at the counter and were able to watch the cooks. Their set up is inefficient and they do not have many items cooked ahead of time that would make their lives less hectic. They also were out of standard breakfast items like corned beef and grits. The servers spent a lot of time running back and forth getting things. They need to have a better set up so that they are not wasting time.
