Great little coffee shop near Grand Central Station. We enjoyed our cappuccinos on sidewalk tables. Good service and reasonable prices. The espresso was a bit bitter compared to our espressos in Rome, but we were happy to have it.

It's not easy to find authentic matcha drinks without sugar-laden additives, so I was happy to find just that at Pennylane Coffee. My matcha latte had a fresh grassy taste and aroma that really hit the spot. An intimate space with a few small tables inside (as well as outside in nice weather), there was a steady stream of customers on a Sunday morning but the line moved quickly. The vibe is decidedly industrial with sleek decor and club music. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, tasty but would have been better if it had been heated up (as per my request). The lone barista was slammed so I guess that's understandable. I'll return for the matcha.

truly, a hidden gem and so good! Came on a Thursday morning, and although it was packed, the drinks were made and came out extremely fast. They have an extensive hot breakfast menu and pastries as well, including gluten-free olive oil cake, which I want to come back and try. Service was friendly and they have nice seating inside although it's not huge. Great coffee shop and couldn't recommend it more! The iced vanilla latte was delicious and not too sweet, which I prefer because sometimes vanilla lattes can be really, really sweet

    - Ambiance: Dimly lit, serene, and not overcrowded. - Ideal For: Reading and offline work activities. - WiFi: Extremely slow, not suitable for internet-dependent tasks. - Coffee is decent, satisfactory. - Service: friendly and respectful staff.

This post is special. Because, it is about pennylane Coffee. Being so close to home, it's impossible to miss this place. It does the best Oatmilk latte and I am sure all other lattes and cappuccinos. The reason this place is so special because one of the Baristas, Maria has my heart. When she makes coffee, she makes it with all the love and joy. A soul warming coffee Almost all the baristas are good because the coffee beans are good. But, "A latte is only as good as those hands that make it" I always get the Oatmilk Latte and I also got to try their Matcha Scone which was amazing, nothing like the ones I've had before Ps: Midtowners and followers please visit this hidden gem! Amazing coffee with an amazing barista #supportsmallbusinesses

The best coffee in the area known for its consistently smooth and delicious taste! My new favorite go-to coffee place now.

I walked to Pennylane Coffee before work to grab some coffee and pastry for breakfast directly across from the Westin. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable and cozy environment, and friendly staff. I ordered a flat white and a sugarless cherry scone. I also confirmed with the staff that there's no sugar in the baked good. The flat white had a strong taste of coffee that's flavorful and rich. Scone, on the other hand, was delightful. Although it's sturdier than a typical biscuit, the scone was quite hearty and had a natural tartness coming from the added dried cherry bits. Overall, I had to walk a bit further to this coffee shop, but I thought it was worth checking out!

Pennylane has surprised again, but in an amazing way! After my last visit here when I got the delicious matcha latte, I decided that I was going to get it again to feed my growing addiction for matcha. I was surprised to see that they also served iced matcha without the milk, so not a latte, just water and matcha. And so I thought that they must be pretty cocky to be doing that, because it takes great skill to make authentic matcha. But I trusted them since I loved their latte, and oh my god! Pennylane coffee is now my favorite matcha place. I've been to Kettl, La Cabra, Matchaful, and Cha Cha Matcha, and none of their matcha are as rich and deep in flavor as the one that Pennylane serves. The ratio of matcha powder to water is more than just right, it's a golden ratio. Later in the afternoon when I was halfway done with the drink, I decided to add more water to it to keep matcha party going. The matcha taste was still just as strong, earthy, dark, and rich.

Spacious coffee place. A rare find in NYC! And I love the lighting that comes through.

It came out as a thick piece of deep-fried toast topped with ice cream, boba, caramel popcorn, and strawberries on the side. Not healthy at all, but really good. They have a water dispenser, two locking bathrooms, and plenty of outlets, so I already have a very positive view of Grace Street as a good place to rest. The food is alright. It's a bit overpriced and the teas are not good quality. However, the desserts are delicious. I usually split a slice of basque cheesecake with my friends. The regular and matcha have both been good in my experience. I don't like chocolate cake, so I haven't tried that variety. I wish the pumpkin was available in the smaller size too! I've tried their boba, and it isn't good. The hot teas are okay but not great. They're pretty much just syrup and milk. I would avoid the drinks and just get the desserts! I haven't personally tried the bingsoo, but I've heard good things. The waffle is alright--all in all, come here to recharge and for the basque cheesecake!

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil.
