New location for Penny anns is great . Can hold up to 130-140 diners complete with counter seating . It is very bright and clean . Food is the same high quality consistent as the other locations . There are alot of offices and a hotel nearby so i can see it being popular for breakfast and lunch . Came in on a sunday and used the wait list while making the drive over . Servers and staff are very friendly. Happy there is a another location nearby, useful if there are longer wait times . read more

You really can't go wrong with Penny Ann's for breakfast. If you're new to the area and you ask anybody who has really good pancake pancakes they're probably gonna say PAC is on the top five. Service can be hit and miss based on location, but overall it's decent diner service and atmosphere. The last time I was here, we also tried the chicken and waffles. Which is basically a crispy waffle with chunks of crispy chicken cooked right into it. We also tried a couple of the omelettes that were decent and the hash. read more

Had a hankering for biscuits and gravy. Did a search for that here on Yelp and it turned up several restaurants. No mom & pop hole in the wall places near Sandy, though, which is a bummer. They usually have the best and cheapest breakfasts. Most places charge around $12 for a couple of biscuits and gravy. Most come with two eggs. Penny Ann's Cafe has it as a side for $5.99 which is one biscuit and gravy. OK, so I order two thinking that I can do my own eggs for only $0.25 or so. One of these would have been enough. Fluffy biscuit and plenty of gravy. One of the fears of ordering biscuits and gravy is running out of gravy. Didn't do that here. And one filled me up satisfactorily. I guess I'll have some for breakfast tomorrow with my other order. The gravy was thick with sausage in it. Good stuff! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Classic American diner that's great for breakfast and easy on the wallet. Had a bit of a wait on a weekend morning but was sat within 10-15 minutes. Went for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning! But these guys handled it well - got on the waitlist at 1020 - via yelp app- it says approx 20 min wait - got seated at 1045 not bad at all. Liz was our server and did an awesome job ! Served our water & coffee immediately and took our order. The restaurant was crazy busy but Liz kept the coffee flowing and just from what we could see the kitchen was BUSY so we were prepared to wait. Food was delivered to our table in about 25 min but you can tell it was hot off the grill ! Pancakes was missing butter but Liz got that immediately and we enjoyed both the pancakes Sammie and egg white Spanish omelette . We stopped by Penny Ann's Cafe to try one of Utah's staples, the scone, and had a bit of a mixed experience. My husband ordered the scone topped with strawberries, pistachios, and Dubai chocolate, and wow... it was absolutely amazing. Sweet, rich, and totally worth the visit, honestly 100 times better than my meal. If you go, this is a must-order. I went with the small breakfast (bacon and French toast), and unfortunately, it didn't hit the mark. We waited over 30 minutes after ordering, and when my food arrived, it seemed like it had been sitting out. The eggs were cold, the bacon barely warm, and while the potatoes were the hottest item, the overall plate just felt off. The French toast was also drenched in butter, which made it a bit too heavy. That said, Hector, our waiter, was fantastic, very attentive, friendly, and made us feel taken care of despite the wait. Overall: come for the scones (seriously, they're incredible), but the breakfast experience may vary. read more

We had a fantastic experience at the newest Penny Ann's Cafe in Sandy. We were happy to find the same PAC quality we've come to know and love. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic--we were seated immediately, and the coffee kept coming, always hot and fresh. We tried a new menu item, the banana bread French toast, and it was truly phenomenal. An instant hit and a forever favorite. The staff is exudes customer service and the establishments are always clean and welcoming. Good solid diner food. I'd been to the original PAC shortly after we moved here because people went on about the pancakes. At that particular visit I didn't get it. They were ok at best. I am SO glad I decided to give the new location a shot. I get it! The pancakes are fluffy and golden. The cornbeef hash is perfectly crispy on the outside. It was a Bad first time experience here. waited about 1 hour to be seated ( table for 3 ) and 45 minutes to get my food at the table just to find out that my omelette was undercooked ; waitresses was nice ; the person at entrance was nice. Penny Ann's has become a family staple for us and the new location is super convenient. However, the wait time, after being seated, has become a bit outrageous. Other than the extended wait time, the actual food and portion sizes are great! My kids absolutely love the hot cakes (which are huge!) while my husband and I really enjoy the array of 'skillet' dishes offered. My favorite being the garden skillet, which includes a decent portion of fresh veggies and breakfast potatoes, topped with eggs and smothered in delicious hollandaise sauce. 100% recommend! read more

Waiting outside because the restaurant is tiny for the high demand! Bathroom lines. Long waiting time each time I've met friends here, then 15 minutes for waitress or waiter then wait for food. Food is cold or not cooked to preference we stated, side choices are not correct. The sausages are extra greasy, the coffee is acidic the creamers were artificial mini cups not real 1/2 1/2 cream. The bacon tasted like chemicals, I thought I might be mistaken so I let my husband taste it and he also said it tasted like chemicals. The chile verde had no pork in it and was almost white, meaning the flour was not properly cooked. It was cold and looked curdled, idk how, but that's how it was. I took two bites and I couldn't eat it. My eggs were cooked correctly. My husband got eggs Benedict, the eggs were not done correctly, the hollandaise sauce was split, greasy and tasted like nothing. We told them what was wrong w our food and they just said sorry, I don't think they cared. This location is not consistent with others. read more

Always a treat to eat at Penny Ann's. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The food is excellent, with solid portions for a reasonable price. Don't miss the hot cakes! They are what makes the restaurant famous, and for good reason! I've never had any better pancakes than Penny Ann's. It was a Sunday afternoon, so I expected the service to be slow. However an hour plus wait after we were seated and ordered was not impressive. Our server was very polite and apologetic. From a food safety perspective, I am very concerned with what I saw at this location today. I was sitting at the bar and watched the food runners touch their face, hair, and other restaurant surfaces. This isn't an issue itself, but the woman who delivered my food proceeded to put her thumb into my pancakes. We made eye contact and instead of apologizing, she asked if that is okay. I didn't have another 45 minutes to wait for a new plate, so I cut my losses. I was able to make this educated decision thanks to the couple next to us who waited an additional hour for an item that was initially missed. I also got to see cooks put dirty receipts directly on food, the list goes on. The Salt Lake County Health Department needs to pay this location a visit. read more

Whatever the Yelp waitlist says is your estimated seating time, add 45 minutes. And then when you get seated, add 10 minutes for the waitress to get there. And the when the waitress takes your order, add 30 minutes to get your food. This chain is amazing, but this location requires you to be on a weeklong vacation to grab a bite. read more

They are always amazing! But today it took us 50 minutes from the time we placed the order until now. We got it all to go, and left. We took a seat at the bar in order to seat quickly. I see people that arrived after us already eating. This was such a sad experience. Not a happy father's day.
