Worst dental experience of my life, very dismissive, and overly cash conscious. Gentle Endodontic…read moreSpecialists (GES) was one of two locations my dentist referred me for a root canal. He explained that this would be a difficult task because of the tooth already being cracked. Based upon reviews I selected GES. My initial meeting was fine, but unusual. Before I could see the doctor I had to pay my co-pay. No worries. Then he needed to do a test that my insurance denied. Again, no worries. Bill me. Nope. They literally, not figuratively, brought a portable credit card machine to me while I was reclined in the dental chair and pay or be gone. I paid. The Dr. explained exactly what my dentist had said; that this would be a difficult procedure but he felt confident he could do it. I liked him. He had a nice manner as many of the reviews had noted. I agreed to have the root canal a few days later. I arrived for my procedure 15 minutes early. I was checked in and immediately required to pay the difference between what the Dr. charged and what my insurance paid. Not billed but paid on the spot. And it was a lot. I paid. I got right in on time, given novocaine, and told we would start in about 10 minutes. Very normal. I could see the Dr. through the doorway sitting at a computer. A few minutes in I began to cough. He heard me, stopped to see if I was Ok. And again I was told any minute now. But now never came for me. After waiting for 35 minutes I could feel the novocaine beginning to wear off slightly. No Dr. or Asst. was in sight, and none had checked in on me. I decided to leave. Upon reaching the lobby an Asst. stopped me. Where are you going? I'm leaving. Why? I am not a priority. Nearby I could see the Dr. with another patient explaining the same test to him I had the previous week. You're next. I don't believe you? IN MY OPINION, I had been forgotten about. I was not a priority. By now the Office Manager could see I was leaving. She approached and asked where I was going. I explained again and asked for a refund. She said insurance had already been billed. I said unbill them (yes, I know that is not a word) and refund me. I was refunded, including my original co-pay which I had to request separately. I have to give them credit for not arguing about this. (I had no issues paying for the test.) Finally, the Dr., who had been watching this going on from a short distance, finished with his patient and came over. He inquired and I explained for the third time that I felt ignored, forgotten, and not a priority. No apology was offered. He said I needed the procedure, had been given the novocaine, and I should stay. He still did not say he was ready. But by this time any confidence I had in him was completely and irrevocably gone. I notified my dentist, in person, about my experience. I also notified my insurance company. Now Yelp. And next BBB. The novocaine has worn off. My tooth hurts. But I feel I made the correct decision for me.

Office REFUSED to adjust for financial hardship, refused to discount. I would NEVER have agreed to a service at $270 CASH COPAY! Then they sent the account to collections instead of accepting $100 final payment + crediting the difference of $70 as a courtesy to my request due to financial difficulties. Receptionist on the phone was RUDE, with no compassion, no leeway, sent the account to collections for $170 balance. At checkout I specifically and clearly requested to pay the full charges and be reimbursed by my insurance, asking that NO assignment of benefits be made (nothing entered on the assignment line of the claim). The woman who checked me out did not respond to my request except to smile and nod her head. She told me I owed $292 which I paid without question (I should have known it was too low to be the total). There was no indication that she didn't understand or could not honor my request. I confirmed they were filing electronically and asked for a copy of the claim. I found she had assigned benefits to their office and I had paid only my portion. The total was over $500. This was in direct opposition to my request with no explanation. That was on 4/10/26. To date, 5/18, the claim still has not been filed with my insurance company. Secondly, I requested that my records be sent to my out-of-state dentist of 20 yrs as I wanted them to have all my records. I filled out an authorization form, gave it to Millie at the front desk in person, but nothing was sent. When I called to find out why no records were sent, she denied I had personally handed the form to her the previous day! This was absolutely untrue and I was stunned. She claimed she did not have it and I had to fill out another form. Then they only sent the pdf of my x-rays, not the preferred digital images, and without the treatment plan. The claim filing error and Millie denying I gave her the authorization form are Issues that do not generate trust. I have never had such an experience at any dental or medical office before. They don't seem to have anyone in charge, such as an office manager, although they have 8 or 9 people at the front desk. I will have to decide whether to continue with this practice.
