This restaurant was recommended by my nail tech. Of course we chatted about all kinds of stuff in the 1.5hrs with her and food is always on the list of topics. She said it's nearby and if you like Thai food, it's a must stop. I must say that I drive by it all the time and as it's in an industrialize area, I never stopped. Came for dinner with my daughter. Parking was not bad when I arrived, 20mins later when my daughter arrived, she couldn't get a closer parking space. Looks like this plaza is jumping at night. The door into the restaurant is like an old house front door that's been painted over several times. The windows were mirrored windows so you can't see in but they can see you from the inside. Definitely a neighborhood mom/pop type of restaurant with lots of regular. Not a fancy spot at all but completely welcoming. Not sure how many ppl were working but the gentleman who we saw did it all in the front of the restaurant - greeted ppl, sat ppl, took orders, delivered the orders and helped those who wanted to order for take home. He's so nice and always checked up on us. Sweet man. We had a soup order to share, 2 entrees and a Thai tea. Portions are pretty big for the entrees that we ended taking half home. Penang curry was sooo good. Perfect was the rice. Pad Thai was also good and not dry at all. Soup was on point. Many years ago when my father was still living, he took my oldest brother and I who were visiting from San Diego to his favorite Thai place in Henderson. We had an epic meal, as all of us love Thai food. It has been a favorite memory of ours, especially after he passed. Today, while visiting in LV we decided to try to find it again, how hard could it be right....truly a needle in a haystack since there were more than 20 possibilities near his old house. I got out my trusted YELP, and started searching through all the locations, looking for photos of the outside as that was all we had to jog our memories. Finally we agreed on the one possibility and headed over. Lo and behold we had found the location and headed in to enjoy the moment, memories and food!!! The inside had been remodeled very nicely. We were greeted immediately and seated. The menu has lots of great options, and many of them are specialty items I always look for. We started out with beef jerky, papaya salad and sticky rice, and a side order of the stuffed chicken wings. Super yummy!!! Next we ordered the Basil ka prow pork and the Nom Kau Tod...hope I got those right. Both were delicious, especially the last dish....great presentation and so much flavor. Once again, another amazing meal and a happy memory created with my big bro, honoring our father at his favorite Thai joint. These are my favorite foodie moments...good food and good company. The food here is fantastic deserving no fewer than 5 stars. The massaman curry was absolutely delicious -- the spices, though mild, were perfectly balanced with the dish's savory flavors -- very possibly the best massaman curry we've ever had. The pad-see-ew was also excellent; again, we agreed, the best we've ever had. We managed to completely polish off our plates which was no easy feat given the healthy portions -- no shrinkflation here. First the good. . There is a very nice friendly man who hustles. He does everything and really moves. I mean he literally runs. He puts his heart and soul into it. The food is hot. They put a burning thing on the bottom of the soup. Also the chicken satay arrived hot and so did the curry. The wait was long. The chicken satay $14.95 was hot and the chicken itself was ok. The satay sauce was sickeningly sweet. Tasted like high fructose corn syrup. Disappointed because I was craving a rich peanut buttery flavor. Or a lot of chicken. The Tom Kha flavor was perfect. $20. Decent size bowl too. It should be for $20. Bamboo shoot pieces were nice and big. The red chicken curry was also good. Sweeter than I'd like but could eat. I do love some sweetness but I don't want it tasting like sweet pancake syrup was poured in. I love the taste of the food without it. A bad thing if it's already hot outside. Thankfully they were good with getting the water. A pretty nondescript looking place in a crummy strip mall off Sunset in some industrial area. It's the kind of place that looks like only locals know of. This was a great find though. Okay prices. We got a few things that were vegan. It's about $12 for an entree. Pretty okay for the big portions. I got the Cashew Nut. This is a choice of protein with carrots, onions, and special chili paste. Hot stuff and that wasn't even adding any spice to it. The vegetarian choice is tofu. For sure it's better than it looks. It's a small place with a big menu. There's plenty to get for vegans and vegetarians. read more

Located in a run down strip mall, I didnt let that stop me as I have gone to hidden gems in non-descript strip malls and totally enjoyed my meal. This place was a huge let down. Upon opening the door, I was welcomed by a funny smell, cracked wall, and a filthy aquarium. The upside was the friendly owner who showed us to our seat and gave us a menu. Still being optimistic, I figured the negatives would be more than offset by the awesome food. We ordered, Thai iced coffee, hot tea. moo krob pri khing and the green curry lunch special. Thai iced coffee - bit weak and too sweet. Moo Krob pri khing - nicely spicy and the green beans were fresh and crunchy. The pork belly. which was supposed to be crispy tasted like rewarmed pork with no crunch. Green curry lunch special - was bland and the egg drop soup a mismatch. not special at all. I've been going to Penn's Thai House for about 26 years. It was always a true hole-in-the-wall, but the food was consistently delicious and the prices were fair, which is why I kept coming back for decades. After the remodel, the place looks much nicer--clean and comfortable, but still not fancy--which I actually appreciate. Unfortunately, the menu prices have gone way up, the portions are noticeably smaller, and the food just isn't as good as it used to be. While it was okay overall, it lacked the quality that originally made this place special. The Pad Thai was especially disappointing--the noodles were overcooked and mushy. It's hard to justify the cost now compared to what it once offered. I really hope they can find a better balance, because this has been a longtime favorite and I'd love to see it return to what made it great. read more

I stopped here for takeout after a hike. The spring rolls had a wonderful crisp but not the best flavor. The flavor was just okay. The chicken satay was tasty with a nice peanut sauce. This is our 2nd visit to Penn's thai house and food was still amazing! We ordered the shrimp pad thai, their special garlic crispy duck, and crab fried rice and all were excellent! The garlic crispy duck was my favorite as it was unexpectedly delicious. We thought it was like fried chicken type menu but it was actually like orange chicken type of dish! The sauce was soo good! Sweet, hot, and crispy! Must try! The crab fried rice was also amazing as they make it was real crab meats and a large portion! Lastly, the shrimp pad thai was also delicious and savory! I've been coming to this little hole in the wall Thai place for years. I have always said this place does not get the attention it deserves! The food here is sooooooo good. Their vegetable Panag is to die for. I have been an addict of this dish for years. Lol. I've tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointment. The restaurant in itself is not the nicest but the service is great and the workers are so nice and attentive! I usually order carry out but the few times I've ate in house, it's either empty or really packed. Never had any issues with parking. Everything is reasonable priced. We live in Henderson and kept driving all the way to anthem for tum yum and discovered this hidden corner spot and tried it out. I've driven by this place so many times and knew it had to be good because it has been open for so long. I finally stopped in today to get takeout. Service was great. I was greeted immediately, questions were answered, and he made sure I had everything I needed before I left. The food was delicious. The curry is flavorful and just the right amount of spice for me. I ordered 6/10 on spices. The papaya salad is exactly what I love!! Crunchy and spicy and maybe a little fishy, but in a good way. I ordered a 7/10 spice and it was perfect. The satay sauce (and there was a lot) was also delicious. There was a yummy little cucumber/onion salad that came with it as well. As for ambiance, it's a hole in the wall at a strip mall in an industrial-ish part of town. It's like many small town diners, taco shops, etc. I wouldn't have a birthday party there, but it's perfect for lunch or dinner with a friend. I've been ordering take-out from this restaurant for the past couple years. They are quick, efficient, and clean. Their prices are very reasonable. I usually order their chicken pad Thai with mango sticky rice. The pad Thai comes in a pretty big portion - I usually finish it in 2 sittings. And the mango sticky rice is absolutely delicious, every time. This restaurant is tucked away on a corner plaza by Sunset & Gibson so its easy to miss.
