Chicken Parmesan Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade Fresh-Cut Fries

We are just out of towners looking for a bite to eat, but I will 100% be recommending this place to whoever will listen. And I don't usually like subs. The staff has obviously been updated since the nasty 2014 reviews; we had super friendly and fast service. The best part about it is the food is so fresh you can taste the difference. Absolutely exceeded our expectations.

A million times better than Subway or Jimmy Johns. Hot or cold subs that are higher quality at a slightly higher price point than the other guys. Worth it though! Fries are fresh not frozen and taste way better. Fresh squeezed lemonade too Solid 5 star sandwich joint.

    At least it tasted good....

I get it people want to learn the MIKES WAYS or others like me who have longed for great subs near to home or work. I ordered the #2 Jersey Shore Favorite, regular size. I when I got to work open the wrapper and notice there are 3 slices of provolone, 3 slices of cappacuolo and 3 slices of ham. The mikes way filled the rest of the bread. Basically it was a "Mikes Way" salad sandwich. I do not believe the proper proportions of deli meats were followed. To be fair, I should have seen this coming. I watched the slicer prep 2 ham and cheese sandwich's for a kids meal. 1 slice of ham 1 slice of cheese. Now the bread is great, but it's not what we are coming for. Like I said I hope it's because it's new staff learning the process and I will try again. There are several Jersey Mikes we will not go to based on bad experiences and then we have our favorite locations as well. Let's hope for a better experience!!

I actually think some of the items here are pretty good, but comparatively speaking, I've certainly had much better. Firehouse is definitely different than what you normally find in Danville. It takes a step away from the Midwestern fare and takes me a bit closer to my personal comfort spot, Southern cooking. When I see fried catfish on the menu, my eyes make a beeline to it. This food can satisfy my cravings until I get home, but would never replace it fully. First time I visited, I got their fried catfish and shrimp combo with fries. Firehouse definitely gets an A+ on their seasoning, they season everything up heavily and more! The catfish was definitely overdone and wasn't flakey. The shrimp was pretty subpar in my opinion, really rubbery and not very fun to eat. It was just greasy and messy to eat. The french fries here are superb though. I came back and was in the mood for their gyro. They really loaded that sandwich up, I would say they made it too big for its own good. Don't get me wrong, I love extra food, but the extra food caused the sandwich to collapse on itself. I ended up eating the items individually, rather than all together. And I am aware that this is not a specialty Arabic/Greek restaurant, but the quality of the gyro meat was just fine, nothing too crazy. I really want to like this place more than I have so far. The employees here are super nice and the menu is just so appealing and is a nice change in pace to the diner style menus. Having that variety instantly makes it a place worthy of a revisit in my eyes!

America is quickly becoming coast to coast franchises but locally owned restaurants like I & I don't just lend nostalgia to a quickly disappearing past, but give us hope for the future. I'm sure you're not reading this review for my prophesy for the future of the US, so here's a review of the food. Ah-mazing. I got the Elwood Burger Cheddar Horseradish Chive Cheese, Bourbon Bacon Jam, Grilled Onion and a side of fries. The burger was well portioned, and perfectly cooked. The toppings were to die for. We were just passing through and needed dinner but if I'm ever in whatever town this is again, I will definitely be stopping here. I can't say this is the best restaurant in town, only because I've only eaten here but my suspicion is that it is. I'm tempted to purchase the property across the street (beside the prison) just to eat here every day. I think it'd be a fair trade. Just don't pick up any hitchhikers out front.

The food was really good - my husband had a burger and I had a grilled tenderloin. We noticed on the menu that all of the meat was locally raised, which explains why the prices are higher than average. The fries were really yummy. And our service was top-notch. We will definitely stop in again!

We were taken to a booth and the seats and table were wet from the quick wipe it had just been given. It wasn't just wet, there were also lots of crumbs that had been left behind. As I looked around, I noticed that the floors were littered with trash and food also. Straw wrappers, napkins and bits of food were present under each and every table. I understand that during a busy rush, the staff probably can't take the time to sweep, but even after the rush nobody bothered to address it. There was a gentleman bussing tables who stayed "on patrol", though. He circled the dining room at regular intervals and made sure that dishes were cleared in a timely manner. I see you, sir! We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. That young lady was very kind and upbeat, which was quite welcoming. When she returned with our beverages, she offered to take our orders, but we weren't ready. And just like that, she ditched us! J/K, but kind of for real. A different waitress appeared and took over from there. She was efficient and took good care of us, but in a way, she wasn't as warm. She was no-nonsense and straight to the point. Our food was decent. My husband had The Special, which is a basic breakfast plate (eggs, French toast and bacon), I had the turkey club with fries, and my in-laws both had phily steak sandwiches with fries. The food didn't come out super fast, but that gave us time to settle-in and not feel rushed. It was quite nice and a change from what my husband and I are accustomed to where we live. We had a leisurely meal and caught up with old friends who wandered in and out during our meal. That was another clear sign that this place is a local favorite.
