The entire home is clean, fresh and peaceful. It's on a quiet road set on a hillside. The landscape is lovely and lush. The grass is thick and green, the gardens are a delicate dotting of pastel colors that compliment the home perfectly. The barn is.. well.. stellar. It's old old old, but it is SO well taken care of. It has the most gorgeous wood flooring and it has.. wait for it-- A FIREPLACE! *swoon* Y'all.. the sunset is breathtaking. You can look over to the west and see the mountains just being cloaked in the golden hour of sunset, not a single thing disrupting the ambiance, with a soundtrack of a trillion peepers all around. Safe to say, it is a true gem. It's fun, it's beautiful, it's exactly where you want to have a special event like your wedding or family reunion. Since there are only three guest rooms I imagine it's a serene place to stay any time of year. The owners were very friendly and served a delicious breakfast. We stayed in the Fireside room, which as its name suggests has a lovely (and warm) gas fireplace. On a cold April night it was so cozy in our room. The whole inn has unique antique touches but with all the amenities you would want. Rooms: Since we were the only guests I was able to check out the other rooms, all of which were lovely. The Fireside room has the fireplace (you'll likely only use it in the winter/fall because it does produce heat), pretty vintage wallpaper, and a comfortable bed with a firm mattress. You have to step down into the bathroom area and the sink is inside the bedroom, which I found to be funky/charming. If you want a tiny bit more privacy book the Androscoggin room. It also has the best view, a little seating area, and it's the only room with a bathtub (the other two have showers). I thought the Garden room was the prettiest room, but that is subjective of course. The photos here and on their website are accurate, the house is very clean and beautifully appointed. A few traveler tips: The rooms don't have TVs but there is one in the common area downstairs for guest use. This didn't bother us but for some it may be an issue (or a bonus). The stairs are steep and may be challenging for anyone with limited mobility (all guest rooms are upstairs). The only very minor complaint I have -and this does not effect my 5 star rating because we knew about it ahead of time- is that they only serve breakfast until 9am, checkout is at 10:30, and there is no flexibility on either (on Sundays anyway, in order for the owners to attend church). We overslept by 15 minutes and they graciously still served us, I wouldn't have been upset if they closed the kitchen as it was our mistake. They also said that checkout was at 10:30, but at 10:18 the owner came to our door to usher us out. BUT, like I said we knew about this ahead of time and still chose to book, and we're glad we did. It was a lovely stay.

This inn provides all the cozy things ~ coffee available in the morning, a selection of other coffees and teas available via Keurig at other times. My only complaint is that the bedside lighting in our room isn't sufficient for reading. Mood lighting ~ check. Reading ~ you'll need to use your phone or a flashlight. Or, perhaps the intent of a B&B, read in the common room with your fellow guests.

It had two sitting areas, both with stunning views of the lake, a gas fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub. It was a very peaceful and romantic setting. We Also booked an hour in their oasis sauna which is located outside with a large window facing the lake. After sitting in the sauna for 15 to 20 minutes, we stepped outside into 17° winter weather and it was amazing! The staff and the owners, Nicole and Geoff, were all very friendly and accommodating. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast in the dining room. It was a very relaxing getaway, and we highly recommend the Wolf Cove Inn.

Our group's favorites were the seasonal creamed spinach, the hot honey burrata salad, and the filet mignon. We tend to be a little particular about food and the meals could not have been better. If you are debating having any kind of wedding at wolf cove or even just a romantic weekend away I would not hesitate to book here! The issues: at $280 a night we felt the room was very dated (last updated about 20 years ago). The room smelled like bleach or really like how a senior living or care center smells which we spoke to the management about. The physical parts of the building, being quite old, showed various states of care/repair/disrepair/wear. Overall I dont see this at $280 but it was an ok stop. Management did acknowledge the issues and said the rooms not yet updated were to be done soon. Perhaps verify if your room choice has been done if reserving. I give it a 2 star towards 3 but price keeps it at 2 in its current condition.

What else can you ask for? Jay, the owner of the establishment, was an absolute delight! He and his family really make this inn feel as if you're staying at your favorite cousin's house as opposed to a hotel. You can enjoy coffee and the company of Jay, his family, and other guests sitting at a huge communal style table in the dining room while chef makes delicious breakfast fare.
