Spectacular doesn't begin to describe our experience at Grey Havens Inn! From the moment we arrived, the magnificent harbor view beckoned us to sit in a big ol' rocking chair on the Inn's lovely porch, cocktail in hand & relax completely into the moment. Oh & sunsets? Outstanding! Our first moments at Grey Havens were so warm & welcoming. Actually even before arriving, calls with innkeepers, Ali & Carlos, had us beyond excited for our initial stay. I say initial because of course we definitely will return & soon I hope! I could list endlessly all the delightful elements that the Grey Havens team have combined to create a place in which one can truly & gloriously unwind. From the lovely & cozy guest rooms to the gorgeous bay-windowed common room (with its stunning actual bay-view) the vibe is marvelous. Grey Havens feels quintessentially seaside Maine with just the barest but perfect touch of some lovingly placed & demure whimsy to intrigue a curious eye. Our initial stay dates did not overlap with Blue's calendar, sadly. However the many tales we heard of Chef Esau's creations have us drooling in anticipation. We will ensure we enjoy a dinner at Blue upon our return to Grey Havens. read more

This has been our 4th or 5th time over the past few years dining at Blue (the restaurant) and this time we were sorely disappointed. We had a party of 7 and everyone commented on the tiny portions for the price. I had the NY Strip and expected at least an 8oz piece of meat. Rather I received 4-5 "slices" on a scoop of mashed potatoes. Is this a sign of the times choosing profit over quality ? Sure seems that way. I hope Carlos can reassess the direction of this once delightful restaurant by the sea. read more

Lovely Maine Inn so quiet that when I got out of my car all I heard was my tinnitus! We stayed in a turret room with an incredible view of the ocean! The path down to the water was just the perfect walk to a lovely bench facing the ocean and ends up on their private dock. Lots of water birds and I even spotted a seal. We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday, so we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the in-house restaurant Blue. A delicious continental breakfast to start our day filled us up to go hiking the local parks. Innkeepers friendly and helpful. I don't want to forget the comfortable beds with the most amazing soft sheets! It was a wonderful stay and if you need to getaway for some quiet, this is the place! read more

Just back from a relaxing two night stay. This isa beautiful location and the Inn has been lovingly upgraded by Eve and Dick since our last visit probably ten years ago. We enjoyed Happy Hour on the porch as well as a delicious dinner at "Blue" the onsite restaurant. I had Haddock and my wife has salmon, great salad too and blueberry cobbler or cream brûlée. We also did a short side trip to Five Islands Lobster Dock. We agreed to do this every summer now that we are retired. read more

My daughter wanted the dream wedding with the full Fall experience for family and friends. Plans went smoothly and all fell into place. The weekend arrived and all that changed. "She is like a different person!", said the bride. From start to finish there were unprofessional comments made by the owner which, I assume, were not meant to be overheard. Guests, vendors and bridal party were shocked at the behaviors being displayed by the owners. The list of issues goes on and on but the worst is that no bridal venue owner should EVER cause the bride to cry on her wedding day due to an unprofessional attitude. As a last-minute plus one, I spent the weekend at the idyllic Grey Havens Inn for a wedding celebration. Pros: - There's a baking genius hidden in the kitchen. Her blueberry pies are heavenly: a flaky, buttery crust with oozing blueberry filling that's not too sweet and perfect with a scoop of ice cream. She also picks the blueberries herself so what you get is the most authentic Maine wild blueberry pie there is. - The bed and breakfast is decorated in a calming blue/white scheme. I particularly liked the ikebana display in the dining area. - The porch is definitely the best part of the inn. Grab a book and take your pick of a swing, hammock or rocker and soak in the amazing waterfront scenery. - Walk into the rooms and it's pretty clear that the owners love toile: toile pillows, blankets, drapes in all different colors. A lovely, girly retreat. Cons: - At times, the hostess seemed a little scattered so it took a while to get a straight answer out of her. Also, due to a mistake, we had to move rooms 3 times during our 2-night stay. Some of our stuff were misplaced during the moves but all were eventually recovered (with much effort). - The soundproofing could use some serious work. I guess that's why children under 12 are not allowed to stay at the inn. - Shampoo and conditioner were conspicuously missing from the bathrooms but were provided for upon request. - The mosquitoes were immune from bug spray! My husband and I stayed here last weekend for one night and had a wonderful stay. Stayed in the Cottage Room. No view of ocean but room was clean and comfortable. Allie was a very gracious host and was very attentive. Had cocktails on the porch overlooking the water and then dinner inside at Blue Bistro. Food was very good. Would recommend dining here. My husband and I just stayed here for a "minimoon" getaway right after our wedding and we couldn't have been happier! We stayed in the sunshine suite--our room and bathroom were both immaculate (and so cute!). Our view from the deck was also breathtaking. Dick was so kind and made us feel right at home.. He even called in a dinner reservation and printed off cribbage rules for us while we were gone. We got breakfast served when we wanted so we could sleep in a bit, and it was DELICIOUS!! I would recommend this gem to anyone craving peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. read more

Our first visit to Maine to visit some family, and I wanted to stay by the water. Found Grey Havens Inn online with a Google Maps search of nearby hotels/inns to Bath. Booked right away after seeing the photos on Trip Advisor. Decided to go all out and book the Sunrise Suite and was so pleased on arrival! Eve greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and gave us a quick tour. Since we were the only guests that first night, we were able to take a quick peek at the other rooms. Really nice remodel of all the rooms, but the Sunrise room is the best with a private patio and amazing view! First night: we got a great night's sleep- comfortable beds and ceiling fan on with windows open. The room is bright during sunrise, but I don't mind getting up early. The sunrise is so lovely plus you can see the lobster boats out. We didn't get to eat dinner at Blue instead opted to eat each night at our family's house in Woolwich, but had a wonderful breakfast made by Eve and Dick. After breakfast we all sat and drank coffee together, and they told us more about the Inn. It's truely feels like visiting friends when you stay at Grey Havens. The second night the Inn was almost full and even though we went to bed early, we didn't have any trouble sleeping. I didn't hear the other guests downstairs even with the room's windows open. All I could hear were the rain and waves crashing into the nearby island. We will be staying again next time we visit Maine during summer or fall. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! read more

We had dinner at the Inn on 8/19/2108. The food was good but I felt overpriced for the area. I had another high quality meal nearby that was excellent at a lower price. When we looked at the menu most of the meals appeared to fall within a certain price range so we ordered the specials assuming this would also be the case. Well,the prices for the specials was much higher. Little did we know they were posted on the board behind us. It would have been nice to know that. I don't mind spending money for dinner if it is comparable for the area. I will say that the view from the Inn, and the Inn itself was beautiful. It is too bad that some of the repairs were not to the original standard of carpentry... read more

This review has been a long time coming. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Grey Havens over the summer and couldn't have been more pleased. Though we do wish we had more time to enjoy the place and all it had to offer. From a relaxing atmosphere within the inn to the beautiful scenery right off the front porch. All our guests let us know how much they loved the location as well as the food that was served up by chef Esau. Eve and Dick were awesome in helping us with what we needed. Thank you for everything! A lovely place on the water...with one significant flaw. This is a beautiful bed and breakfast in an old mansion on a bluff overlooking the bay and ocean, just a couple of miles from Reid State Park. It is clean and well-run, with hosts that are friendly and accommodating. The views make for a very relaxing atmosphere. The "Cottage Room", where we stayed, was small but very comfortable with nice wood floors and walls all around. The bathroom was large, clean, and bright. The breakfasts were excellent. There is a bar and restaurant which looked inviting but we went elsewhere for dinner. The wi-fi worked fine. For the most part, this was a very comfortable and relaxing stay during our two days/nights in mid-July. However...there is a problem with the rooms, or at least in the room we stayed in, which did not face the water. The window blinds do very little to block outside light, be it from the street lights or, as was the case during our first night, from a couple of lamps on the outside of the house that the staff mistakenly neglected to turn off. As a result, our first night there was almost sleepless. Also, in July it starts to get light around 4:30 in the morning and the rooms get very bright. For some, I guess it wouldn't matter much but for me it was a big problem. Maybe not having light-blocking blinds or any curtains is an intentional design by the owners but if it is, I can't figure out why. Were it not for this, I would easily give this inn 4 or 5 stars. I would surely stay here again...if the problems with the rooms is addressed. If not, I will likely research other options. Also, be advised that there is no TV, not even in a common area. read more

Its hard for me to review this place as we never even got to stay since they double booked our room!! We had booked one of the nicest oceanview rooms they offer for a september, saturday night wedding next door and received confirmation via email from the owner 2 months prior to our stay. Well we were in the car on the 6hr drive up to Greyhavens Inn for the one night stay when we received the call confirming our room for sunday night....I politely told the owner, no, we were to be staying that night and they had confirmed our early check-in via email anyway. She insisted I had booked it for the wrong night and being so caught off guard I just thought maybe I did make the mistake and hung up in complete shock as she told me she would call a few other places but then called back that sorry they are all completely booked. So after hanging up again, I pulled out my laptop and brought up the email confirmation and I had in fact booked it for the CORRECT night as I thought and received confirmation from the owner for our early check-in which was 30min from that point. So I called back a little annoyed and the woman gave me the different excuse of sorry we have a new employee and she must have messed up and that there was a Hampton Inn 30min away we should try... I'm sorry but when I book an ocean view room for $350 for a 1 night stay that is next door to my event and that is already fully paid for via my debit card, a Hampton Inn 30 minutes away in an industrial area at an additional cost is not how you fix your screw up!!! Yes they were going to refund the $350 but it didn't show up right away in my account and what f I didn't have the additional money to pay for a 2nd hotel room?! Not right. We ended up having no choice (being its in the middle of nowhere) and booked at the Hampton Inn. BUT when we got to the wedding, the very first person we see we ask where they are saying and wouldn't you know, the Greyhavens Inn did the EXACT same thing to him! They called him at the exact same time as us, hours before check-in to confirm his stay the following evening. Again blaming it on him and shipping him off to the Hampton Inn! So not right. Our guess is they ended up getting guests that wanted to book both friday and saturday night, therefor could make more money so instead of being ethical business people and telling them sorry, they just booked them in our rooms and didn't even have the audacity to call us earlier than that day! But after driving by this shabby, rundown house, sooooo happy we didn't end up staying there, not worth the money at all!! Totally gross looking, nevrmind what the other guests we talekd to told us about the rooms and sheets! And if they are this shady to their guests, makes you wonder what else they are shady about.... Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOSERS! read more

A beautiful view and a lovely grand porch. As a dining experience it left a great deal of room for improvement. Our waitress was so inexperienced it was painful. Her description of the swordfish special was that it was 'pan seared'.... I said, that's it? She then did find a written description in her pad and read it to us along with the fact that it came with the 'starch of the day' ???? My husband was not impressed with the chowder, my mussels looked desiccated and shriveled - not appealing. My husband's tournados were covered with a large mound of some sort of brown puree - he was unsure what it was and he thot the meat was tender but tasteless. My salmon was only edible at the edges it was raw and gelatinous in the center. Dessert was a mistake as it was bread pudding that had obviously been insufficiently microwaved as it was stone cold in the center. The drinks were excellent! Strong and tasty. Seems as though the owners might have put more effort into the rehab and decor of a very beautiful inn but scrimped on the dining side. Go for drinks and the view. read more

The staff is very careless about reservations. In late August my mother made a reservation to hold my father's 90th Birthday Party in the dining room on the first weekend of October. Family made reservations to come from Alabama and Missouri. On September 16 the owners called to cancel the reservation because they had "overlooked" a wedding scheduled for that weekend. This is a lovely spot but this sort of mistake is indefensible. read more

As I understand it, this hotel is under new management. Had heard some not great things over last few years in general (although I never went). We did not stay the night but four of us who vacation in Five Islands went for dinner. This is only the 2d time I have been so impressed by a restaurant that I wanted to write a review on Yelp to advise others of how GOOD it is! First of all, you enter the most amazing porch with great views of the ocean. They had several chairs and rockers. We were a few minutes early so the host suggested we enjoy our cocktail (they have a full bar) outside on the rockers... It was fabulous. Great drinks and views. Then, we chose to come in for our reservation. So nice not to be rushed. Great new beautiful room with a gorgeous new bar. We split the crab cake appetizer, which was 2 huge crab cakes. When I could not decide between the filet or scallops for my meal (at reasonable prices I might add), they sent the actual chef out to talk with me! He suggested that both be surf and turf AND went back and got the filet and scallops that I would actually be eating. AND, I am positive those are what I got. AND they were delicious. My husband had, quite frankly, the biggest lamb chops I have ever seen served. AND he likes things disgustingly rare AND that is how they came! It was a miracle, he is always sending everything back. We also had some great wines and that prices that stretch the whole line. The staff also knew when to be attentive and when to give us some time just to sit and relax. Topped off with a great dessert. Overall, one of the finest dinging experiences I can remember. I sure would suggest it to anyone in the Bath/Five Islands/Georgetown area... read more
