It isn't easy finding an affordable and good HVAC contractor in Bremerton. Peninsula installed a new heat pump for me, and they were great from start to finish. The estimator and installers were on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their "house" equipment is Daikin/Goodman, in case that matters, but as we all know, the quality of the installation matters, and they do a great job (this is my third house I've had HVAC installed in). They took care with my floors, setting down drop cloths and cleaning up after they were done. After-install service is also important, and they were prompt with equipment registration, lien releases (e.g. electrical work), and permit scheduling. They're also great at answering simple questions, like whether or not a MERV 8 filter is OK to use with the new furnace. 100% recommend them if you need a new HVAC system. read more

Their front office is really responsive and thoughtful. Called me about a scheduled filter replace b/c my tenant couldn't do it, and they remembered that I was short on funds so they reminded me a couple weeks prior to the replace timeframe to ask if I still wanted to get it done. I was able to get the neighbor to do it and save myself the cost of a visit. They've serviced my oil heater before I got gas, then my gas heater, and alos my other heat pump/electric forced air system, and I've had no issues. Annual furnace service. It would have taken one extra minute to remove all four screws and replace the old filter. Instead I get home see that the vent return grill is all bent and no filter... I give the business a call and explain exactly what is going on. The lady explains there should only be one filter and never grasps the concept of he bent the grill. She repeats that there only needs to be one filter in the system probably 4 times and then out of nowhere asks me not to yell at her. Hahaha. Bad customer service on both parts. Apparently they only have one person who can service oil furnaces, Dan Gil (which is problematic in itself but that's another issue.) Every time he was sent for a maintenance he told me how he'd told the previous home owner to replace the unit, and he was very clear that he wasn't happy about still servicing it for me. It lasted me five years, through just regular maintenance. In December 2020 after a repair by Dan, it literally BLEW. Of course I called them to come look at it. But Dan was just not interested. There were issues getting an appointment, and they actually told me it needed to be completely replaced over the phone, before I even had an appointment. So I asked for a quote to replace my only source of heat in middle of winter... and was told their sales guy just couldn't come. But Dan could, and would take measurements and gather info and the sales guy would follow up with a quote. Dan was in my home for less tan two minutes, didn't say a single word to me, and then I never heard from Peninsula Heating and Cooling again. In the same time frame, I had three other local companies cheerfully provide quotes for replacements. So I went with a company who wanted my business. By the way it's June 2021 now, and no I've still never heard from Peninsula Heating and Cooling again. And now that I found a replacement service company I never want to. read more

They serviced my AC system, found a leak and replaced the coolant. A repair of over $1000. When I needed the system to work, it didn't. Coolant had leaked off and my system froze. They don't have 24 hour emergency service. When I called first thing Monday morning, they stated that they couldn't see my till at least Wednesday. They don't stand behind their work or take responsibility to make things right. P.S. Called Advanced Heating and Cooling Monday morning, I am going to have my AC serviced the same Monday. That's service. Additional information: Advanced Heating and Cooling informed me that failed component was the TXV valve installed by Peninsula Heating and Cooling. Here the reply by the owner: We're disappointed to hear this, Martin, and apologize for the inconvenience. It's important to us that our work is done well. Our records show your system had a leak and a failed TXV that was repaired 10 months ago 9/20. Repairs are guaranteed for 30 days on systems not installed by our company and not under warranty. Unfortunately we did not have any technicians available same day after the record setting heat wave this weekend, as we were experiencing very high call volume. I am happy to hear you found someone to come out same day to look at your system. David and Chris were our main installers and they made my experience go from great to WOW! Josh came to give our estimate with someone he was training. The bid was fair and both of them were informative and very personable. Josh then answered many questions via email and was extremely professional and responsive. Installation day came and David was very concerned about removing his mask to speak to me, and I was a little put off at first. Thought he was a jerk. I am basically deaf, but within an hour he was adapting to my needs and was amazing to work with! On day two? I think I fell in love with him! I'm pretty disappointed in my experience. I had a AC and furnace service done. Nothing was wrong just doing a annual maintenance. I've had them done in the past and they were close to 2 hours. The individual that came to my house smelled of smoke so bad and only spent 45 mins in my house. I asked about my readings and was just told they'd be sent to me. I wasn't happy wit that and asked to get them in writing, which I did get. Who knows if actually correct. To my biggest dismay, later that night looking at my ceiling I see hand and finger prints all over my ceiling and the attic door. Not once did he at anything. I now have to figure out how to get up there and paint or clean. read more

Make sure you get a signed receipt. Took the day off twice and nobody ever notified me of their presence. No call back. No correspondence for weeks. To my knowledge they never came out. Then 6 months later I start receiving past due statements. The furnace did eventually get fixed and I paid the bills when service was rendered. That said the lack of customer service and correspondence makes them unusable for me in the future. When I called to discuss the representative said they had pictures. Great you have pictures, but I went weeks with no call backs and I never heard from anyone. Paid the bill just to be rid of them. read more

Their technician Shawn came to check the furnace, he said that it was repairable, that he only had to order a few pieces. After three days waiting for my estimate (I had to be calling every day to get it), Kris sent me an estimate for completely replacing the equipment, I called to ask why if the technician said that this equipment is repairable, why I had received an estimate for replacing the whole equipment, she told me a weird story, way different that the technician said to me. I have nothing to leave a review for as far as service because they never even made it to my house. Scheduled an appt for my heat pump to be serviced on may 17 for a june 1 appt. 2 weeks in advanced. They told me they would come before 10 and 2. I called at 11:30 that day to confirm since nobody there bothered doing so. The gal told me itd be closer to 2 if not a little later because the guy coming out was installing a compressor and it was a big job. She told me he would call me when he was on his way and from there it would be 30 to 45 mins until arrival. 3:30 rolls around and I still haven't heard anything. By this point I'm upset because I have been waiting around all day at home on my one day off when I had plenty of thing I could be doing. I call back and the man I spoke with was very rude! He wasnt sympathetic what so ever. When I was explaining what was going on he cut me off and said he would call the guy who was scheduled to come out. He calls me back and tells me after all that he wont be able to make it out at all! Really?! The only updates I received were because I called and prompted them. If I hadn't I would have been waiting around until 5 that day until someone finally decided to call and tell me they weren't coming. The man I spoke with on the phone didnt once apologize or acted like he felt bad or offer a discount when he offered to reschedule for being inconvenienced or anything. Instead he was defensive and rude and acted like it my my fault for not being understanding. If a compressor takes 6 to 8 hours to install then why schedule it when I had an appt?
