Although I live in Sacramento, when I come to golf in the SF area I ALWAYS stop off to see Paul at P.G. Shop. Great service, knowledgeable, and fair pricing. I've ordered several sets of irons and drivers/fairway/hybrids from P.G. Shop. Paul has always given me a very good price...better than in Sacramento, even at the so called "discount" golf stores. The reason you should go here for your golf equipment: 1. Great personal service. Paul will get to know you and remember you when you return. He will go the extra mile to make sure you get the right clubs for your game. He fitted my 12 year old son for new ping irons. He noted that as he grows we can lengthen and adjust the lie angles rather than buy a new set later on. That will save me hundreds of $$. And cost Paul those dollars. But that was the right thing to do for a customer. 2. Great prices. Golf ain't cheap so saving on equipment allows us to play more rounds. 3. The feel of a store is as important as the products they sell. I like the big box stores for selection. But I don't love the people there. They are renters not owners and you can feel it. Paul is a small business owner and keeping him going is in our economies best interest. 4. Quality. The grip on my new M1 3 wood was icky out of the box. Paul saw that and changed it out immediately without me asking. He believes in the quality of the relationship he has with you and the quality of the equipment he sells. If it's below his standard it gets taken care of so the customer doesn't have to suffer poor equipment and your relationship with him and his shop remains positive and strong. 5 go there. The customer service and product selection is excellent and Paul is very friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing. Dropped off my golf club for regripping ($8) at around 530 on a Tuesday, thought I would be able to get it done then and there. Nope, have to pick it up another day. No, you don't need a receipt. Called Wednesday to say I couldn't pick it up that day, and I would come back Thursday. I came by Thursday at 540 (hours on the door say open til 6) and the place was completely locked up, no one inside. Came by Friday at 6:45 (open til 7), shop was also completely locked up. Finally came back on Saturday at 1:30 PM and it was open. All's well that ends okay, but I'm not happy about taking 4 visits when it should have taken 1. My hubby was due for some new irons. After reading the rave reviews we decided to make a visit. Paul was super friendly. Recommended hubby to try a few brands. He was also quick to tell us the difference for each set and whether it is on sale, and if he can swing a deal etc. Very small shop packed with merchandise. I went shopping at Paul's store based upon all the glorious reviews here on Yelp ! Needless to say I wasn't disappointed. My search for a comfortable shoe was leading me nowhere with the larger stores like Dick's and Sports Authority. But as soon as I walked in the store, I asked Paul to show me the most comfortable shoe, which he did in 2 seconds. A minute later, I had found what I was looking for. To make it better, I showed him a driver that had a stiff shaft (got a gift) and he promptly exchanged with a Regular. Such service is practically unheard of these days. I am delighted to know I have a place to go to for all my golf needs, a place where I will be treated fairly and with respect. Had a blank shaft and a tip to be installed told it would take a couple days in reality took a week and over priced to install the tip I could have gone to golf galaxy or even to Keplers golf and would have been cheaper and done in 2 days(Keplers is also a top ranked golf fitter) read more

Great store. I researched reviews online to purchase a driver (at Peninsula Golf) that I thought was best for me. I used the driver at range and quickly realized it was not the right fit. Brought back to Paul and without a blink of an eye set me up with the right driver for me free of charge-when it was my fault that I chose the wrong driver at first. This shop actually cares that it's golfers are happy and swinging the perfect clubs for each individual. When my friend referred me to Peninsula Golf, his endorsement carried a lot of weight. That being said, i can't believe how much he understated the service level, atmosphere, and overall experience Paul provides. There is absolutely NO pressure. You have a question, Paul has an answer. You have an idea of what you want to accomplish, Paul has some suggestions. He wants you to be satisfied with your experience, not just the equipment you buy. Peninsula Golf is the perfect place for the golfer who has everything but looking to improve certain aspect of their game and what true golfer doesn't do that? The store is well stocked with putters clubs and tons of accessories and clothes. The best part is a knowledgeable proprietor who is available to assist you in anyway, answer questions or share his experience in all aspect of the game. I purchased a counter balanced ping putter with what I thought was a balanced face, when brought it home I discovered that it was "slight"toe weighted and went back to the store. Paul called Ping while I was at the store and ordered the putter (face balanced) and said it would be there in about a week. He said he would call me when it came in and I should try both putters and choose the one I wanted. I went in this morning, tried both putters with Paul observing and clearly both of us thought the face balanced putter fit me best. I left the store feeling confident and looking forward to getting on the golf course!! This type of service is priceless! read more

Just had the worse experience at this shop. I wonder how many "friends" have written reviews here because all of these high star ratings do not even come close to my experience which has been a one month nightmare. I wanted to get the new Titleist Driver and Fairway wood. Paul did not have the clubs but said he could order them for me and it would take 5 days. Seems fine, so I paid, he took the specs, and all seemed fine. THe next week I called and Paul said the items were back ordered, so it would be another week. I wasn't happy, but I am a patient guy. Then a week later, it was a different story, the heads were available but not the shafts. I wondered how that could be so I called Titleist directly. As it turned out Peninsula Golf is not even an authorized Titleist dealer. I don't know where Paul gets his Titleist and Foot-Joy inventory, but it is all grey market and not covered under warranty. Paul cannot order Titleist, he does not have an account. But the worse part is Paul tries to deny this pointing to the few Foot Joy shoes and balls he has. What a joke. And then he wanted to write me a check for the refund. No way. He processed a refund on his terminal but he must have some problem with his bank because the refund took another 10 days to get to my credit card. No way would I shop here. Sure the prices are good, but that's because his inventory is suspect. Save yourself the headache and do a search for other local shops with honest people with real Titleist accounts, don't bother shopping here. read more

I stumbled upon Peninsula Golf since I worked in the area, and found them on the way to lunch. I'm very glad I did, this place is great! This is one of those places that a lot of locals know about, but don't advertise as much as those large superstores like the Golf Mart, or Golfsmith. However, their selection and customer service is second to none! They don't have a large showroom like those other big superstores but they do pack a lot of quality name brand clubs and equipment in their small store. Go see Paul, I believe he is the owner since he's always there, and he will treat you right. He is a friendly guy and is always willing to help you out, and he knows about what he sells. If they don't have what you want, he is always more than willing to order it right away. If you just want to browse at their fine selection of clubs, no problem, nobody will bother you if you don't want. Had a very pleasant experience with Paul at Peninsula Golf. The shafts of several of my clubs had been bent during my move back from the East Coast. Paul took the time to examine each one and after trying to bend them back using his own tools, he informed me that we needed to send them back to Callaway. my golf buddies referred me to Paul. i have not purchased actual clubs from him or had a fitting, so i cannot comment on those services. however, i did stop in to get my hogan blades regripped and his grip+install charge was lower than what the big retail stores charged for just the grips. i was out of there with new grips in less than 20 mins. he did however give me a bit of grief for using clubs that were 12 years old. haha. good guy. read more
