This past weekend we visited TopGolf Burlingame for the first time with my girlfriend's family and we had a lot of fun! We booked the reservation online, and since some of us had been to other TopGolf locations, we didn't have to pay the one-time membership fee again but for new players you will have to, I think it's like $6 a player or something like that. The most important thing to know is that your time starts exactly at the time you book, so be ready to go to maximize the time you booked for. We did a 90-minute session and it flew by really quick. We had enough time to do 4-rounds of 5 golf shots each and then less than half an hour to just hit balls. The amount of game options makes for an exciting competition between friends and family. For food we got the sampler that had chicken sliders, mac n cheese balls, chips and salsa, queso. The chips were kinda stale but the rest of the food was solid enough that it did what it needed to do. I was debating on whether or not to bring my clubs, which I ultimately did but it wasn't necessary at all. The range isn't very long so getting a ball to the back of the range was like a pitching wedge from the 2nd floor. The balls felt like they are limited flight and doesn't compress like normal golf balls. Bringing a couple of wedges if you just want to hit your own clubs would be the move. The clubs they provided were just fine. While we had a great time, I don't think TopGolf is necessarily for me. While it's good for families, friend get togethers and beginner golfers, I feel like there's an opportunity to attract avid golfers because the facilities are what an amped up driving range should be - Great vibe, solid food, drinks, etc. read more

I've been coming to Topgolf Burlingame 2-3 times a week for the past two years and have spent thousands of dollars here. Unfortunately, over the last six months or so, I've noticed a significant decline in both the service and the overall condition of the facility. On multiple occasions, I've spent an hour at a bay without seeing a server once. No one stops by to check in, while employees can be seen standing around on their phones and seemingly ignoring customers. When you do need help, it can take 10 minutes just to flag someone down--which is especially frustrating when you're paying for the bay by the hour. The club situation has also gotten noticeably worse. Clubs are frequently missing or severely damaged, and it doesn't appear that anyone is inspecting or resetting the bays between guests. Again, you end up wasting paid time tracking down an employee just to get basic equipment. More recently, I've stopped in when both the first and second floors appeared nearly empty, only to be told there were zero bays available. When I asked about it, the manager was rude and dismissive rather than offering any explanation or assistance. At this point, these don't feel like isolated issues. The consistent lack of attention, poor service, employees disengaged from customers, and deteriorating equipment point to a management problem. It's disappointing because I've been a very regular customer and genuinely enjoyed coming here for a long time. And one issue that obviously isn't the staff's fault but is worth knowing before visiting: depending on the wind direction, the smell from the wastewater treatment facility next door can be overwhelming. I hope management takes some of this feedback seriously. This used to be a place I came to several times a week, but lately the experience has made it increasingly difficult to justify coming back. read more

Pretty underwhelmed with this location. I like seeing the airplanes fly across in the background as you hit golf balls but this location in particular loves to nickel and dime you. I've come with friends who has an unlimited play pass and as long as it's not busy, we can play. The venue was totally empty and initially yes we were ordering food and drinks but after 2 hours we stopped and when we stopped they said "sorry we have full reservations and you can't play anymore." The place was completely empty. I saw maybe 1 other group on our level playing and this was on a weekday at 11am. Moreover, their EV charging used to be free and they recently added a fee which I am totally okay with because there was a ton of people charging there who aren't even golfing, HOWEVER, the EV charging CHARGES a parking fee. The longer you play, the more it charges you ON TOP of the energy fee. Isn't the point of top golf is for you to be there longer to order more stuff? And not just the parking fee but the charger charged me DOUBLE of the Energy cost + the parking fee x2. I had to call Chargepoint and they agreed that it was double the price. We visited this Topgolf location for the first time, mainly to watch a World Cup soccer match rather than play golf. One of the highlights of this location is definitely the view. We were seated on the second floor, and it was amazing to watch airplanes landing at the nearby airport while enjoying the game. It made the experience feel really unique. I'm giving this location 3 stars because, unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We ordered chicken wings, which are supposed to come with vegetables, but our server brought the food without them. We also didn't receive any napkins. My husband tried to ask our server about the missing vegetables, but he didn't seem very interested in resolving the issue. In the end, I had to go to the bar to ask for napkins, and another employee kindly brought us the vegetables. We appreciated her help, but it shouldn't have taken that much effort to get everything that came with our order. The food itself was good. The chicken wings were tasty, and I really enjoyed my espresso martini. I would come back to actually play golf because the view is fantastic, especially if you enjoy watching airplanes. My friend purchased their summer pass and invited me to join him on a Thursday afternoon. The place wasn't crowded, which was nice. Our bay was ready just a couple of minutes after we checked in on the first floor. The facility is clean and spacious. Since we had already eaten lunch, we ordered a turkey sandwich to share along with two beers. The sandwich was delicious. Our fries were cold when they arrived but the kitchen staff noticed they weren't hot and came back with a fresh batch. I found that very attentive and appreciated that they paid attention to little details like that. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, from the employees who explained the rules to the kitchen staff who brought out our food. There is plenty of parking, so finding a spot isn't an issue. We had a team outing at Top Golf, which was so fun. I love golfing, but truly... I love a fun driving range. I love to drive the ball way out there and the competitive and silly side comes out. We planned for under 15 people, but had a few areas designated for us so we split into teams. We had a buffet table set up for us, service was attentive and the drinks and beer selection were great. This top gold location is awesome! I've only been to the Roseville and Las Vegas locations, but this location has great food and beautiful views. You can see planes landing at SFO and views of the SF too. With the summer pass, the location is pretty crowded. We came on a Sunday evening around 5pm and a lot of the bays were filled. The kids had a blast here and their dad's game has drastically diminished from the last time he went to the driving range. I would compare the food directly to pinstripes and i think they have more varied options and better quality food. My son does love the mac n cheese balls. Each bay can seat 6 people and they have heat lamps! In order to have your name on the TV, you need to register an account online, which costs $6 (one-time junk fee). You can also share an account if your group doesn't care about keeping score. We booked a single bay on a Tuesday night for an hour and a half, this felt like about the right amount of time. There is some way that they track where your golf balls went, and then you get points based on the ball's trajectory and where it landed. Between a 3 and 4 - finally got the chance to try Topgolf for the first time everrrr! I was a little nervous because, ya know, you can miss or something when swinging on a driver for the first time but 'tis the time for growth :D Facility-wise - this place is very new and very shiny. Everything looks great - with the unfortunate exception that the outside air sometimes smell smells like waste water?? I'm guessing that's the only land available to construct this huge golf venue. The smell comes and goes, and I honestly didn't notice it too much, but the rest of the group complained (for those who have sensitive noses). Package-wise you do everything online - they do have half-off specials on less crowded timeslots but generally, you find something that works for you and your group, new players have to play a $6 initiation fee, and then you get your bay and you just start swinging. I don't know anything on golfing, but it seems like the equipment is fine in the gameplay is also fine - a similar pacing to bowling but obviously with golf. Food wise: I really liked their all-American burger - it is on the pricier side as expected with all food at entertainment place, but I thought it was really good and can actually stand alone (ie: eat without playing). We were also able to try the rest of the party platter which was basically the rest of the menu: chicken sliders, mozzarella balls,pretzel bites, and nachos. The rest of the food was as good as you'd expect - pretty decent, especially if you're a little buzzed. (Top Golf does offer a yearly membership, which allows you to go in for an included hour every month and I think he can also bring five friends with you so it's a very economical option if you stick to your guns (aka not buy extras) and live nearby.) Overall, I had a lot of fun and definitely great to try at least once. The only advice is if your budget allows, just like bowling, if you want a faster play, it's better to get two simultaneous bays so more people can hit the ball without waiting too long. read more

My partner and I recently visited Topgolf in Burlingame, using a couple of $50 gift cards. It was a beautiful day, and we're both getting more into golf, so it seemed like the perfect outing. Topgolf is a unique spot with three levels where you can hit golf balls while enjoying food and drinks. It definitely has a family-friendly vibe, as we saw lots of kids there. There's also a patio area if you want to relax away from the main playing bays, and it offers a really beautiful view of the ocean. However, the pricing was a significant drawback. You pay by the hour or half-hour, with 30 minutes costing around $42, and prices increasing for longer sessions. My partner and I just did 30 minutes each. They're pretty strict about the time too. If you go over, they'll ask you to leave. Even with our $100 in gift cards, we still ended up paying an extra $30 for our time and food, which makes me think it would have been $100-$130 without them. The food was also quite overpriced. For example, a small order of 6-7 chicken wings was about $15-$17. It felt like typical bar food, but at inflated prices, which seems to be common in these types of venues. Our server was very nice, but the service was slow; it took a while to get our food and even simple drinks like a Diet Pepsi. Fun, but can be a bit pricey. We generally go with a member so can play for free, but they have a promo Mon-Thursday where you can play half off. Pricing is by bay and I believe you can squeeze in up to 6 people. There's three floors to play from. The top level is cool bc you're high up and the bottom level feels different since you're actually right by the ground. We did nearly get hit by a ball once while on the bottom floor, but it's rare. I also saw someone lose their club from a higher level. Service is decent, they checked on us frequently. I liked the cushion seats to lounge in and the overhead heating. Some bays don't have the sofa loungers though, and heating automatically shuts off after one hour. The food is not very good though. It's like your typical standard bar/junk food. I usually stick to snacking on tater tots. It does get quite busy, so I would rec making a reservation a day or two in advance! We came on a weekday in the afternoon, with perfect weather (actually it was a chilly December afternoon, but their heaters are amaaazing). The employees at the front desk were nice and got us a bay immediately. Upon reaching our bay, instructions were easy to follow and we started playing immediately. Our server came fairly fast and asked if we needed anything, but all we needed were good vibes. Jk... but we didn't request anything, and I appreciated that someone would check on us every so often. The games itself were fun, especially for a noob like me. The only downside was that I would get points for (seemingly) no reason (blocks knocking down when it didn't seem like it should), which made my husband upset. Sorry not sorry. We thought the games were fun and definitely a nice touch to add when you're not as serious of a golfer. There were people who I could HEAR are golfers just by the sound of their swing..... they're definitely not playing the games. Entire space was clean, servers seemed active and were really friendly, bathrooms clean. We didn't eat, but the food looked good! The only reason I'm not rating this a 5 is because it is a little pricey imo. My company hosted an offsite at TopGolf Burlingame, which as a very novice golfer, I was slightly anxious about. These hesitations were set aside almost immediately, as the entire experience is designed to be beginner-friendly and fun for all experience levels. Upon checking in, we were shown to our suite and introduced to our attendant. We were given a quick tutorial on how to play and were given the chance to order some refreshments. Getting started was quick and easy; however, our computer screen froze when we were trying to register players, and it took us several minutes to track someone down to help us. While some members of my group were more experienced and could actually aim for the targets on the screen, the rest of us enjoyed hitting the golf ball as far as we could (and not finishing in last place). Food-wise, we ordered a couple of the large party trays of snacks. I avoided the sliders, which seemed kind of messy to eat while golfing, but the mac n'cheese bites hit the spot. Before arriving, we didn't have a reservation because we called and were told there was a 0 min wait. When we came, this wasn't accurate and we waited about 30-45 min which wasn't bad. The expectation was waiting actually an hour & a half. It's recommended to have a reservation before. There's 3 levels as usual, lots of bays. 2 bars one upstairs & downstairs. While we waited, we sat at the bar and got the skinny marg with strawberry. Each was $20. We finally got a bay upstairs and ordered Espresso martinis. I substituted tequila for mine and it was yummy! I couldn't complain about that. However, it took quite a while to receive the bites we ordered. First was the mac & cheese bites - really good, yet took forever to come out. Fries was another thing we ordered, didn't come out until the end of our game! How did it take nearly an hour? We complained to the server & nothing was done to improve our experience. The plates we received were dirty & we made them switch it out, they also forgot to provide utensils. I didn't appreciate that. I've never experienced this at SJ Topgolf. We did not receive water at all & did not get checked on the entire time. Other than that, I had fun. It's chilly on this side of the bridge so I would bring a jacket for sure.
