Last week, for the first time ever, we ended up with a steak that just wasn't up to their usual standard. Honestly, it's so rare for them that we didn't think much of it, but my husband stopped in today and mentioned it. What happened next is exactly why we keep going back. They didn't just acknowledge it -- they went above and beyond. They replaced it with a free NY strip steak, and on top of that gave us Prime Butcher playing cards and a big bottle of their "Everything" seasoning. Completely unexpected and absolutely appreciated. That kind of customer service is hard to find these days. They didn't have to do any of that, but they did -- and it speaks volumes about who they are. The manager and staff are always smiling, cracking jokes, and just genuinely good, down-to-earth people. And the meat? Always beyond delicious -- you won't find better anywhere else. My sub was made to order and ready in under 10 minutes, paying at the register next to the deli counter. The meat is excellent--my go to places in MA have gotten pretty disappointing with meat that's clearly low grade, but not Roy's--their steaks & marinated meats are unmatched with anyplace else I can compare them to and the prices are very fair. The ambience is great if you want to be in an old school place that's 100% like grocery stores in the 1960s. Lastly, their prepared foods (especially the cranberry chicken salad) are the BEST anywhere and put all the other stores I've been to in recent years to shame.
