Went here with my friend who is local to Peterborough and she wanted to show me because they have lots of different vegan options which was more than true! This is a cute little grocery store that has TONS of vegan options on its shelves, local vendors, and a really nice bulk section. I was so impressed that this little space could hold so much treasure! Along with the prepackaged food, they have a cafe towards the backside of the store that is delicious! The white bean soup was full of flavor and just delightful. They have a big menu along with a bakery shelf, on tap kombucha, coffee and smoothies, and a cold bar as well. I highly recommend if you are in this area; I wish it was closer to me! Will be going back as soon as I can!

This place is in the middle of no where. We found it when yelping for places close to mount monadnock after our hike. We forgot to pack snacks and we're famished! Outside looks like a plain New England house. The inside reminds me of the high end grocers you see on the UWS in NYC. We went straight for the deli. All the ingredients are fresh and organic I got the ham sandwich and curry coconut soup combo. I wish the ham sammie was toasted but the apple in it made it fresh but surprisingly not too sweet. The soup was a standout with its side of fresh rosemary croutons. The bf got turkey Reuben which had clean flavors and was also very good

Thank you organic culinary guardian angels!!!! Finally a source for organic, fresh produce of extremely high quality in Peterborough! Nature's Green Grocer is located in a wonderful old mill on the edge of town right by the river. Its wide open spaces and original wood floors in the interior create an interesting space for shopping and dining. No doubt about it, this is where you will find goods comparable to Whole Foods. There is a huge new vitamin section and natural home products section. Imported pastas offered beside farmstead cheeses from local NH farmers. Crazy named natural sodas like Lavender and Rhubarb. Safe, organic, antibiotic and hormone free meat. Fresh not-farm-raised fish. Safe baby food. Artisanal breads from local NH bakers. In the small cafe all the desserts are fresh and organic. I love the fresh fruit smoothies, salads, sandwiches. In fact, I like them so much I have lunch here at least once a week if not twice. And the soups? Wow. Try the Senagalese Chicken, which is my favorite. On my way out I usually try all the free samples (!), and check out the organic ice cream selections for one to take on the road.

I'm absolutely in awe of this place. It looks very unassuming from the outside but it houses a lot of organic and local products at reasonable price. It's close to a few state parks and several scenic places which is perfect if you want to take your food to go and enjoy the weather outside.

We tried Kalon beef a number of times by buying from their storefront but finally decided to buy half a cow. It took a couple months to finish off the previous cow we'd purchased before getting to the Kalon cow but immediately knew something was wrong as soon as we tried our first steak. There was a subtle "off" taste to it. Over the next month or so, we tried multiple different cuts and all the ones with any fat or marbling had the same issue. The leaner cuts were mostly okay. I reached out to Kalon using the form on their website. No reply. I reached out again via email. No reply. I was very clear that I wasn't expecting a refund or reimbursement of any kind because I knew it had been a few months. I just wanted to inform them and ask if anybody else had reported the same issue. Still nothing back from them. Eventually, a few months later, I remembered that I still hadn't heard anything back so I called and asked to speak to someone in charge. They were super sarcastic on the phone. It started with "Are you sure you bought from us? I don't even recognize your name." It progressed to "Many people complain about the taste because they don't know what real grass-fed beef tastes like; it's not like store-bought meat." It ended with "We had another complaint a few months ago but our owner took the beef home and ate it all and it was fine." I went there three days ago to drop off the over 240lbs of what remained. Around 80lbs of assorted steaks and cuts. Around 20-30lbs of roasts. Around 100lbs of mince. Around 30-40lbs of bones, tallow, organs, etc. I was very polite to the person at the desk (it's not her fault, after all), we were respectful of the space and brought everything back in cooler boxes and placed them neatly inside. I handed them a letter (pic attached) and included my phone number in case the owner wanted to call me back. Still zero response. There are a few other reviews online complaining about the same "off" taste but there's seemingly always some sort of excuse as to why it's the customer's fault or that the customer just doesn't understand what good beef tastes like. I also saw some posts about their farming practices, stating that their animals were feeding on what used to be dump grounds. I didn't see that for myself so I can't comment but it was worth noting that it's being said by more than just a few people. Personally, I've accepted the loss of, literally, thousands of dollars of meat. It would've just been the professional thing to reach out to me at least once to discuss the matter. Instead, I get complete radio silence. I included a pic of the email I'd sent and the letter I left. I also included a comparison pic of Kalon's mince to the mince from my previous farm. Theirs looks extremely pale and anemic in comparison. It also doesn't match what they sell in their storefront. I suspect their storefront gets meat from their healthy cows but bulk orders are not from the same batch but, obviously, that's purely speculation so take it for what it's worth. I have no evidence one way or another but the discrepancy in quality between bulk and storefront is visible/tastable.

I have ordered twice from them. The first order was OK but the second had several thawed meats. I…read morehad to dispose of a couple and the others I cooked right away. When I called they denied this ever happening in the past. I followed up 3x no offer of refund or replacement. I asked for a manger or owner twice but only got a young woman who sounded overwhelmed and was useless. I will never order from them again.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made me feel genuinely appreciated as a customer. The service at the deli counter was smooth and efficient, and it was clear the team takes pride in what they do. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and professional, which really added to the experience. Checking out was just as easy, with a calm and courteous interaction that left a good impression. As for the food--exactly what I was hoping for. The sandwich was fresh, well put together, and made just the way I asked, and the cookie was a standout treat to go with it. You can tell care goes into both the ingredients and the preparation. The shop itself looked clean and well maintained, and overall it felt like a place that values both quality and customer experience. It's the kind of spot that makes a workday lunch feel like a small break you actually look forward to. I'll definitely be returning and recommending this place to others. With so many options around, it's refreshing to find a local deli that delivers good food, good service, and a genuinely welcoming environment.

Stopped in last week for the first time, wasn't greeted when I went in, waited 10 minutes at the deli counter for anyone to notice I was there. Then was greeted with the most disgusting attitude, almost like it was annoying to the staff that I was even inside the building. Then when I was checking out, the cashier lady didn't say a single word to me, nothing but glaring at me and attitude. I walked in with my work clothes on, maybe they just don't like blue collar workers. The cookie was good, not the best (burnt on the edges) and the sandwich looked like it was thrown together by a toddler, not to mention they didn't even put cheese on the sandwich when I clearly asked for cheddar. I won't be returning or recommending this place because why should I feel like a nuisance in a deli giving you my business. Plenty of other great spots in the area for a bite to eat. I'll also be calling a health inspector because the kitchen looked absolutely disgusting like it hadn't been cleaned all week. With all the businesses going out of business lately...you would think owners would take notice and make people feel welcome. Dirty, crappy attitudes and mediocre food. Definitely go here if you want to be completely dissatisfied.
