Delicious! This is a few blocks outside of the main drive through town so we worried the map was wrong. What an amazing hidden gem!! We have a lot of kids so our order was rather large and it was ready in a matter of minutes. The chicken salad on croissant was light and not overly mayonnaise-y, my daughter had the chicken Caesar salad and loved it. My husband had a Reuben type sandwich on rye and said it was the best he had ever had ( it looked to us like they bake their bread in house!) We ate outside in the back under a beautiful pergola with a koi pond next to us and a little waterfall gurgling nearby. It was like a little oasis. I'm sad I didn't get any pictures! This is just the cutest shop that ever cuted. Spousie's family grew up here. This was the perfect capstone on our trip to what I define as the "middle of nowhere" which everyone else would define as the middle of somewhere where you just expect happy babies and golden retrievers to run up to you at any given moment. I love Pekadill's, but mostly for the garden out back where you can enjoy your lunch. I definitely recommend this restaurant, but don't go hoping for gourmet food. They serve what you can easily make yourself at home. The attraction is the friendly service and the garden where you enjoy your lunch. I must admit, I haven't tried the Friday and Saturday chicken and ribs dinner because I'm not a meat eater, but if you are, give it a try! We picked this restaurant after reading some great reviews for it. It's located down a residential street and parking is on the street. They have soup, salad, sandwiches and ice cream. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. We sat in the outdoor garden again based on reviews about how beautiful and tranquil it is outside. The soup was amazing and the sandwich was delicious and a very generous portion. I got cream of asparagus soup and my friend got creamy chicken tortilla soup. I got the southwest chicken wrap (1/2 size) and my friend got the daily special which was turkey and ham on a bun. I also got a side of coleslaw and that didn't taste good at all. I've never had a complaint about anything after a visit to Pekadill's. They were closed for a bit to remodel some things and my boyfriend and I are so glad they're back open! Can't wait for the warm weather so we can sit in the patio gardens out back again. We love the chicken salad croissant, and their macaroni salad is exactly what you want it to be. Very cute place with a retro feel. Sandwiches were great and I'm pretty picky with food. My husband and I shared the French dip and the sueben. Both were good but the sueben was better. Soft French bread and the dill in the coleslaw was a nice surprise. They were friendly and clean. There was also a beautiful garden out back but it was raining so we didn't sit back there. I would come here for lunch with my fiancé. Definitely one of the best places in town to get lunch. I came at 11:05 once and I had to double check that they just opened at 11 because there was already a line and a few to-go orders! Food is great with some delicious sides. Ask about them because they have more than what's in front. I noticed the have some hot apples in the back too. Patio area is gorgeous!!! Several tables in a garden. Even if the food wasn't that good I'd come for the atmosphere. But luckily the food was great too :) never even got a chance to take a picture of my food because I ate it up! This place was amazing!!! If I could rate this place with 10 stars... I so would! Food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. My bf and I just happened to see this place while driving down the road. We thought it was just a little corner restaurant and thought that maybe we should check it out. Little did we know, we were in for a treat. We walked in and discussed what we were gonna order. The guy that took out order was just super friendly. We asked if we could sit at the tables, out front by the road. He goes, "You can, but I'd check out the graden out back." We go, "Garden?? Ok." We go out back and it's this beautiful garden with lots of places to sit. Oh it was just so wonderful! After we ate, we went in and got some ice cream. We stopped here on our drive to northern Michigan. We were hungry, so I yelped lunch places that were in Whitehall, since we were approaching it. This place came up and seemed perfect. I was right, it was one of my most enjoyable meals in Michigan. I loved every part of it! We walked in and were greeted and given menus as they have you order at a counter and then they bring it out to you. There were several vegetarian options - SCORE!! I got the half veggie pita wrap and a cup of cream of asparagus soup. My husband got a sandwich, and I also ordered a nice kids meal for my son. The kids menu had a good variety. We walked through, paid, and grabbed our sides - they have slaw, baked apples, and a potato or pasta salad that come with each meal. We walked out back and wow - the eating area/garden is beautiful! Very lush, water features, even a little stream. We got a big table and our food was brought out. The pita was so fresh and delicious! The soup also was. I wanted to lick the bowl. The icing on the cake? My favorite ice cream of all time is Mackinac Island Fudge, and this was my first experience with it on the trip - you can't get it in my area that I can find lately, though I used to be able to. But it's a staple in Michigan and I ate it every day I was on vacation - no shame. This was the best - fudge bits in every bite. I left so happy.
