    Pegah's Kitchen in Vista, CA
    Art K.

A cozy family style diner with a friendly staff and great food. Our waitress, Diana, took good care of us and made sure we were happy. She mentioned the specials of the day, one which we ordered, Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was golden brown, moist and tender and the Belgian style waffle was crispy on the outside, soft and cake-like on the inside. A savory and filling breakfast option. Everything we ordered was delicious. Diana also introduced us to their "hostess with mostess" Genevieve, who recently survived the earthquake we experienced a few days ago while working her shift. Genevieve said her regular customers were calm and collective during the whole ordeal and she was thankful for that. Both Diana and Genevieve were so personable and I can see why so many regular customers return to this diner. The service they provide is stellar and everyone there makes you feel welcome. Thanks again to the staff at Pegah's Kitchen in Vista. We'll be back again soon!

This is a great spot for a hearty breakfast. I was in Vista. They also have a Pegah's in San Marcos & in Escondido.Extensive selection. It took me awhile to place my order! Had the Mexican egg scramble which was mighty yummy although there were too many jalapeños! Very friendly staff. Regular clientele. Saw plenty of pancakes & waffles being ordered! Large portions. Quick service. Retro turquoise blue booths. I will be back Also open for lunch & dinner. Kids menu available No outside dining.

    Greek Omelette with hashbrowns

Upon entry, this place looks cozy with a modern diner feel with the blue booth seats. Nice and breezy feel. They do have a backroom that had tables/chairs only, that is a bit darker. The waiter was thoughtful in offering to open the blinds for us. We also were helped immediately when we walked in on a Saturday around 11 am. This spot has your basic American breakfast menu, a lunch menu, and a few Mexican breakfast specials such has huevos Rancheros, breakfast burritos, and chilaquiles. We opted for green salsa chilaquiles, a Greek omelet with hashbrowns, and a short stack of pancakes. My omelet was great with a lot of the veggies and feta cheese sprinkled on top. The hash browns were crisp. My partner thought the beans and rice were decent and extra points for them to use cotija instead of the "Mexican" blend cheese, but the salsa Verde was more on the tangy tomatillo side rather than spicy. The pancakes were dry with some chew to it where you need a knife to cut; you can't use the side of your fork to cut the pancakes. Not the best pancakes. We also agreed that their coffee was not strong enough for a wake up call. We asked for fresh cups and still didn't think it was good enough and requested other drinks instead. Our waitress was nice about it and made sure we got refills. We didn't have a horrible experience and we both said if we were in the area, we'd likely try it again. But it didn't exactly hit the spot as our go-to breakfast dinner in North County.

Diana the waitress is so lovely and kind. Juan is very helpful with coffee and drinks. Fred, the owner is great. All three of them make our day. They are truly the kindest people I have ever met. They make us feel so blessed to be in their wonderful restaurant. I love the food there too.

Came for breakfast and it felt like a mom and pop kind of restaurant, which isn't a bad thing, I love checking out these kinds of restaurants. Inside, they have seats on either side of this aisle as soon as you walk in with even more seating in the back area. They weren't too busy and service was mediocre. The mission omelette was good but it was a one and done kind of thing.

I am so sorry. I couldn't wait and I had to eat it and then thought to take a picture

We found this place because my wife wanted chicken and waffles. When we got there, it wasn't on the menu so we were going to leave but we asked. And they said although it's a special on the weekends and it's written on the board it's always available! So of course we had to have some. I had the eggs Benedict, actually they gave me a half eggs Benedict. Because I can't finish a full one I thought it was nice to have the option to have a half. And my wife had the chicken and waffles both of which were delicious. Lisa was a doll and awesome and attentive and wonderful. The coffee was extraordinarily hot and the food came extra extraordinarily hot. You know halfway through breakfast you need to get extra coffee to warm up your cup. That's not the way it is here. It will stay hot for a long time cause it comes to the table boiling. I really enjoyed that Would definitely recommend.

What a wonderful spot! I've never been here and it did not disappoint! Perfect eggs and hot hot hot corned beef! Service was excellent, the owner is very kind and the restaurant is clean as a whistle! Can't wait to try lunch sometime soon.

Comfortable and casual. Many sign posted about disruptive kids and pets. It was early on a Monday evening, so I don't know if they enforce or not. The fish and chips were cooked very well. The flavor was good on the fish. The fries were crispy. My only disappointment is they served the malt vinegar on small portion cups instead of the shaker bottle. Hard to get an even spread. The pazole and the Cole slaw were both very good. Our server was attentive and friendly. They have water stations - coolers with cups stacked nearby. To me, the water tasted old ( I know -makes no sense). It had a very earthy note to it like the coolers weren't adequately cleaned. Would definitely go back!!

There was a decently expansive menu to choose from as well. I ordered a pretzel and beer, the ultimate brewery combination in my opinion. The beer was crisp and refreshing and the pretzel was perfect. The beer cheese was divine and paired well. My friend ordered the nachos which were massive. The only idea we had was the beer cheese should be the go to cheese for everything - it was so good it definitely elevated the nachos for us.

Street parking only, but wasn't too hard to find a spot as we came early. The restaurant is very nice and looks new. There is two dining rooms one towards the front near the bar area, and another in the back. We sent in the front for brunch. The menu had a good variety of items, and we decided to go with the chilaquiles and the shrimp and grits. I love Shrimp and grits, and it's not too common on menu's so i has to try it. The dish had pork belly instead of bacon, and shrimp. THe texture of the grits was very good, not too runny or too thick. The shrimp seemed good quality and not chewy or rubbery. I really enjoyed the dish and would order it again. The chilaquiles were an interesting take, not at all what you're normal chilaquiles would be. They come with lamb but we substituted with chicken. They were covered with a type of hollandaise sauce and we both thought they were good. I also ordered a breakfast shot that had bourbon in it, and a piece of pork belly on the top, and a shot of orange juice. It was pretty strong and very good. I would definitely order this one again, and the piece of pork belly they added on top was perfect. They get really busy, and seem to have a coordinated system, like theme parks, to seat customers efficiently. Someone greets you immediately and gets your party size and has you stand by a number. Someone else grabs fresh bread and a bag of peanuts as they seat you. Then your server is right around the corner to get drinks and apps started and answer any menu questions. We decided to try to eat lightly and shared a combo 12oz ribeye with ribs. Came with two sides -- we chose chili and mashed potatoes. And of course we had the warm bread with honey cinnamon butter, as well as the peanuts to start. I was definitely stuffed by the end! Loved the bread and the steak - would order again. We understand it gets busy, so waiting for a table and walking around until we get a text has never been an issue. The problem is the inconsistency. Almost every visit, something seems to go wrong. I've found hair or random pieces of food in my meal, or my food has arrived completely cold. We try to be understanding because we know the restaurant is often packed, but it's still disappointing. Even when something is remade, it usually takes another 20 minutes or more. The service is just as inconsistent. Sometimes the staff is friendly and helpful, but other times they seem visibly irritated when there's an issue with the food. On our most recent visit, our server barely checked on us at all. After our food was dropped off, no one came back to see how everything was, refill drinks, or check in before we paid and left. On top of that, we walked out with her saying anything to us or smiling at us, which felt weird. We really do love this place, which is why it's so frustrating to leave disappointed so often. The restaurant is loud and crowded, and it's clear the staff is under a lot of pressure. That said, being busy shouldn't mean guests receive cold food or find hair in their meals. We hope the restaurant can improve its consistency, because we'd love to keep coming back.
