This is by far the best Peet's I have been to, and I have been to just about ALL of them in the East Bay (yet to review many). This location is large, well laid out, clean and has great customer service. Today was a great day. The sun was shining, and I met my Dad here for a cup of coffee after my haircut in El Cerrito and his appointment in WC. Since we would be crossing the proverbial path-me on my way home, and vice versa, we decided upon this location and since he knows I am not prone to going to Starbuck's (unless forced or desperate (and I always order tea), we thought we would check out this Peet's. Anyway-my favorite was on the Espresso menu (Garuda) so I ordered a medium non-fat with extra foam. What I got-a medium non-fat with extra foam!!! Beautiful drink when made correctly (I am an ex-Barista from a non-Peet's establishment). I was happy and comfortable. I will definitely happen upon this Peet's again. I generally love Peet's Coffee, no matter where I find it, but this Peet's really is special. I think that the people who work here are the nicest, friendliest and FASTEST coffee specialists I have ever come across. When they see the line start to get long, they really work hard to make sure that line moves quick. This kind of customer service is pretty damn hard to come by and I really appreciate it. This is my favorite Peet's in the East bay. It is quieter than the one in Pleasant Hill and the one in Walnut Creek, but still has convenient parking. Customer service is great. As I'm a tea fan, I love the darjeeling, Assam, and oolong offerings. Plus they never seem to run out of the pastries I love. If I could, I'd come here weekend mornings just to read the paper and enjoy the morning. read more

Peet's is still my favorite coffee stop, but the one star this time is for my cashier's attitude when I pointed out that there was a fly all over their pastries. Don't have funky attitude when you're selling food contaminated by flies. Fix it. read more

I love this Peets! I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the parking situation but that's not entirely the fault of the staff.. It's on a busy street and it's so hard to see when you're pulling out I almost got hit like 3 times. They definitely know how to assign people at this location because the cashiers are always super friendly and talkative and the drinks are always made perfectly. There is one barista who is my favorite and pulls the best espresso shots, I only order my cappuccinos when he's working. If not I get iced coffee with caramel sauce (tip: use manufacturing cream as your creamer, thank me later). This location has a lot of seating and in the mornings it can get a little crowded. I've usually come around 9am and never had to wait longer than 13 minutes total (from getting in line to out the door). Relatively clean and they layout works well. This is the closest Peets to where I work but I will pass 2 different Starbucks' to get here! Great job, Orinda Peets! read more

The quality of Peet's coffee is fairly consistent at other locations so this review is about the customer service. The server greeted me very enthusiastically despite the busy and hectic the morning rush. He cheerfully made suggestions and wasn't persistent or pressuring at all. Probably one of the most efficient Peet's locations I've ever been in, or any chain coffee company for that matter. They get everyone in and out quickly in the mornings yet still greet every customer as if they are a regular. When the lines are long, the baristas will ask the crowd of customers how their morning is going and wish them a good day. This Peet's has found the perfect balance between keeping lines moving through and giving individual attention to each guest. Of course, the coffee is great, too! read more

You can say that after a couple of expansions on Peet's as a chain lost it's groove a long time ago.. The Orinda in particular- may seem a skip, who wants to sit with high achievers waited on by Miramonte students. Not so, this place is worth the visit, it has to be one of the more comfortable Peet's around- lots of seats, great atmosphere, excellent wifi- stay as long as you need. While it is very much of Orinda, I can say that a little bit of the old Fourth Street spirit lives at this Peet's. Check it out! read more

I love coming here, the baristas are very good at what they do and the place is always clean. Not to mention the super friendly staff that are always smiling with this one manager, Mia, that I always see chatting to customers and making sure they have the customers' drinks just right and brightens up the whole room with how friendly she is, I wish she could be my barista wherever I go. read more

Every week I go to Peet's to get a Cup of Joe. The Servers are always Top Notch and are not only good at making you a cup of coffee but are personable. The people who work here lift my spirits. Today a lovely lady asked me how my day was and complimented me on my shirt and tie. Not a big thing in the scope of things but it really made my day. This Peet's is the Starbucks antidote. The coffee is great (if you like your coffee fuerte) and they have a ton of options, without it being overwhelming. I really love their tea options as well. They don't look down upon those of us who are going to a coffee shop and not getting coffee. Also, I just love the vibe there. It's a ton of people biking through Orinda and stop to bask in the sun of the outside tables, or it's people with their dogs stopping to chat with people they know (you see, this is Orinda, so everyone knows everyone). It's just a very friendly, neighborhood-y vibe. And it's always local kids/young adults working behind the counter, which I also like. Basically, support this place because it has good coffee, good employees, and a good vibe. read more

Let me start of by saying this is by far my fav Peet's. The staff is just wonderful and the managment willing to please. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and it feels like the people helping you actually enjoy thier job. I don't live in Ornida and there are plenty of other Peet's around my neighbor hood but when I'm on 24 with a few extra mins to kill I make sure to stop by. read more

I like Peets, probably as much as I'll ever like a "chain" of anything. They're from Berkeley, typically have good customer service, and the coffee is good. So why am I writing this review? Well, usually I don't get coffee at the Orinda location, so when we stopped while on a bike ride recently, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they were. Again, I've not had a bad experience at any Peets before, but Nita just seemed extra pleasant... I think it put everyone else in a good mood. It did me... so next time I need coffee in Orinda, I'll know exactly where to go. read more

I like this Peet's Coffee. There is an awkward teenage boy that works there who gives me free coffee every once in a while because I indulge him by playing the part of the strong older male in his erotic daydream fantasy. There is a lot of LL Bean clothing, but I'm usually only in there for like one minute so I deal. Fun stuff. read more

I ordered a hot coco and a breakfast item. They gave me the coco, and I'm 45 minutes, with me reminding them about my breakfast item 5 times, they did not give it to me. I left and am never going again. This was on a Sunday, so maybe it's just the staff for that day, but the service was terrible. read more

The coffee is great, there is a good selections of teas, free wi-fi, friendly staff who remember your drink after a few visits, etc. etc. I took one star off because of the number of parents who let young kids run around while people are carrying steaming hot cups of coffee. Twice in the past year I've picked up my coffee, turned around and almost tripped over a kid. Dropping that much scalding liquid on a child would cause a helluva mess, I wish some parents were more conscious of how easily this could happen, and how permanent the damage would be. read more

This location is continually understaffed and the staff seem to be functioning in slow motion. Today it took almost 15 minutes to get an iced coffee and there were only about 6 people in front of me in line. Inexcusable. 2 staff seemed to be working. 2 others were seemingly mulling around doing nothing. The staff/management could learn some serious lessons from the Lakeshore location, which moves people through at 5 times the speed. read more

I finally decided to stop going to this Peet's even though it is on my route. I have been there numerous times where I am the last person in line, and just when they get to me, they all turn their back and staret doing some type of busy work. With their back turned, they will say "Be right with you" as they proceed to finisdh what ever they were working. To many coffee shops that I don't need to wait on. read more

Worst Peets ever. Customer for 25 years. As a Bay Area truck driver, I frequent Peets 3 times a day throughout the Bay. I live minutes from this locale, and my ranch is very close. I was hoping to make this my regular spot, but the best service is reserved for those who "seem"to have more money and are better dressed than I. I gave you a year. I have been to Peets so many times for their pastries and coffee. Their beverages and food are pretty good, but their customer service at this particular location is horrible. Think about it. I go to many different Peets and none were as disrespectful as this one. I wanted an early snack, so I went at about 9-10 ish in the morning. It was crowded. I brought my kids with me. We had about five people ahead of us. The worker said that the line everyone was standing in was closed and to move to the other line for beverages if you are ordering just beverages. Since my kid wanted some cookies and I something else, we did not move. Then the lady changed her mind and said to move to the other line no matter what. the people behind us had already gone to the other line, so we were basically cut. Then when we finally got up to front, the same lady was so rude. Did not say anything or smile. My kids preferences of cookies were unavailable, so they ordered a different cookie from what they wanted. Then in the back, I saw the cookies they wanted and asked if they were available. The lady replied, "we are still arranging things but if you want these you can have it in place of the cookies you already have". She looked really stressed out, so I wondered if the manager was there so he could change the shifts. But the coffee making guy in the back was happy and everything and would make the perfect cashier. The lady I guess knew how to make coffee, but they never switched. She threw the original cookies out of the bag and replaced them with the right preference. Then she punched it into the cashier. She said "Anything else" and I ordered a nice muffin, which she just threw in the sack and handed to me. I ordered a small coffee and some milk for the kids. Then I paid and everything and she said nothing except for "next customer!" i was pretty disappointed. I found a seat and got my stuff. We ate and the food was pretty good. But my overall experience had dampened my day and I wanted to call the boss and tell him to give the workers proper training for customer service.
