This was my first time ever at this particular Pete and it's right on the outskirts of their downtown area. Perfect 15 minute parking out in front, very clean and organized as well. The barista all seems like they were enjoying their work and joking as they took orders with their regulars. I wasn't in a coffee mood so I decided to try their coconut water Matcha. I like traditional Japanese Matcha, which is bitter and not sweet so this particular one tasted rather sweet to me. I guess Petes does an American version of Matcha. Lol. Nevertheless, the maple oat, scone, and morning glow muffin I got more delicious and not too sweet, but perfectly balanced! So I was very happy and impressed with the pastries!! I was quite surprised to see so many people working on laptops within this particular coffee shop on a Tuesday around 11 AM, but I guess everybody works from home now or a coffee shop. Lol everything was really quiet and you could hear nice relaxing coffee shop music in the background. I will definitely try another drink or at least see if I can get the Matcha coconut drink without sweetener next time. Lol granted the description did not say there was any sugar in the drink itself. I love this Peet's. It's small and intimate. A few friends get together once a month to visit. The baristas are great. Pastries are delicious. I use a walker, so once a week, I get coffee and walk across the street to Fremont Park to read the papers. They often have the Daily Post on the counter. They usually have customers using their laptops. And, if course, you can't beat Peet's coffee! read more

I usually like this Pete's a lot but they tend to be slow at to go drinks.. or if the barista is on time and drink is prepared, the person moving them to the 'to go area' is behind in moving them where we can pick them up.. but most importantly the last THREE times i have been, my iced mocha had one inch LESS milk than its supposed to.. maybe because i asked for no whip so they didn't add the milk?! Very Busy but they run like it well oiled machine. The inside is super clean and they have plenty of seating. The atmosphere is also very nice and they have lots of cool things to buy on Display. One of my favorite Peet's locations. Used to grab coffee here with my friend Tony and sit in the nearby park. Lots of parking available.

I've been to this location many times and for the most, the staff have been friendly and helpful. The store is always clean which is nice to see as a customer. Today's experience though was very different. I ordered online and when I arrived my order was not ready. Not a problem, I understand so I waited... and waited....and waited. I finally asked a young girl, her name was Carolina, if they had received my order. She stated she didn't know and it was not her job to check. Wow....ok then....I'm not sure whose job it is so I waited some more. I finally gave up and stood in line for the register. The young girl at the register was very nice but seemed to be doing the job of 2 people helping customers, preparing food, bagging orders, etc (I guess she was doing all the jobs Carolina felt was not in her job description) . She apologized and said my order was sitting next to her at the register she just hadn't had time to bag it yet. While the young girl went to bag my order for me, Carolina decided she would grace her presence to the world and actually take an order at which time she very rudely told me to "move aside" and even used her hands in a moving motion. WOW!! I mean WOW! Worst customer experience! Just horrible. I don't know who this girls manager is, but she needs to be put on a PIP and when she does not improve, which is my expectation, she is shown the door. read more

Quick service for the airport, I probably waited 10 mins for my breakfast sandwich/caramel macchiato and my sandwich was piping hot! I got the egg, bacon and cheese bagel (which you can't customize)... which I figured was prepackaged and heated. It was good, but the egg to sandwich ratio was crazy, there was SOOO much egg I couldn't finish it all. The caramel macchiato was good though and they have non-dairy milk options. back in the day Peets name and brand were associated with the finest coffee available for purchase ... the shops used to have that old school feel with the high counters and coffee bin cabinets separating customers from employees... Peets used to be the shop you were embarrassed to say " yes " i need it ground for a cone / because the snob in all of us know fresh grind is best .. i remember hearing proud faithfuls ordering triple shot dry cappuccinos when it was cool to slam your coffee and go ... now it seems you enter a peets and the only thing they really do is fulfill to go phone orders and basically ignore everybody that's in house and that is waiting for a drink. I remember when barista's would know everybody that was in their store at a time and now briefs don't even look up even when they call your name if your name even gets called . Menlo Park Peets is a special breed of weird where everybody likes to hang out and pretend that they don't have anywhere to be and they're not at work and granted it would be easier to pretend that it was cool to not be at work if I actually had a drink in my hand . Sadly, the only thing left that is amazing about Peets is if you buy beans like Jamaica blue Mountain go home shut the door lock the door grind it to whatever size you feel like grinding it to and enjoy your cup of coffee on the couch.. honestly, if it wasn't for a different color set, you couldn't tell Peets apart from any other competitor all in all real Peets followers should realize there's a better coffeehouse in town and it's called Philz read more

I hate to do this but probably as part of the remodel they sealed all power plugs. I do not frequent this Peet's often, but this is such an incredible disservice to people who do not abuse the system and genuinely need a spot to work and have coffee for half a hour. In Mountain View, there is no restrictions to power outlets. Also the barista made my chai latte with 50% foam. At $5+ it is a joke to be paying for a drink that is 50% air. First world problem? Yes. Fair? No. I would complain personally, but it's all totally meaningless. The barista would think I am being an a-hole and what can staff do when management has sealed off the plugs with plates? The store manager who runs this Peet's should be totally demoted for condoning the no power plug remodel. The no power policy has not mitigated the number of butts in seats - I came here and it was still packed. Are people charging their cell phones and laptops such a financial drain for a place that charges 15+ for a lb of coffee and averaging $5 a drink or so? In short, I will never frequent this particular Peet's again. It's just that easy. read more

My favorite location in the Bay Area sometimes slips on the small details: an overcooked quiche here or there, or an extra-foam latte served too hot when I asked for regular temperature. But overall, when it's good, it's amazing, and those make up for the mediocre times--it used to be more consistently amazing, but I don't see a lot of the old staff there anymore. Peet's used to have a computerized order system that let you see where your drink is in the line, but these days it's a Byzantine mystery wrapped in mummy cloth somewhere deep in the ancient tombs of Greece, I suppose. You just have to wait and watch the baristas hurriedly practice their craft on an unknown number of orders ahead of you--a bit of a health risk during the pandemic, but more Peet's fault than the workers'. It's been a while since I've had a drink here where I was blown away by the flavor of the espresso: the new open-air design of the espresso brewing machines since they remodeled may prevent proper brewing (formerly blocked off behind the counter, and more sanitary), or maybe the machines need a bit more cleaning out with some extra backflushes. Better ventilation perhaps? Or maybe it's the fact I have to wear a mask to come in and pick up the coffee from a mobile order. Anyway, it's not Blue Bottle and thank goodness. There's nowhere else I really like to go for that rich, roasty flavor that kickstarts my day. So disappointed at this location, I love Peets and was never willing to give up on this coffees but after todays experience I'll never go back again, had a catering event and i order 4 family size and 2 family size hot water (6 totals) plus my own breakfast, the stuff was very rude at getting my order together and they basically thrown my order at the counter and when I ask for help to bring all the stuff they play deaf on me and completely ignored me, five people there and no one could help! I had to take three trips to put all the stuff in my car and I end spilling the coffee on my cloths while carrying the stuff to my car, had to go to my event with coffee stains all over my outfit as I had no time to go change. I got my usual iced matcha latte today. However, my matcha latte lacked on flavor. It tasted really watered down. I also always get light on the syrup but it tasted so sweet it was almost like drinking sugar. It is a shame because I had such good experiences at this location. The coffee is fine here but now there's no need to deal with this Peet's mgmt. problems since there's a Philz very nearby (+ it has both outside & inside seating): (1) For years this Santa Cruz Ave. Peet's mgmt. has allowed dogs at the tables-- this is against the law unless it is a licensed disabled assistance animal providing a specific service (it doesn't include to "emotional support" dogs with fake IDs from Amazon). (2) Furthermore, nearly all of this Peet's tables are occupied for hours (even the whole day) by "regulars" on their computers -- with no coffee or food at all, or they purchase a small coffee when they come in & keep the empty cup on the table all day. Some folks even buy NOTHING at all & just use the tables for hours -- Yesterday there was a knitter sitting with a woman running her business rent free -- NEITHER purchased anything. Would any other Menlo Park restaurant allow non-paying customers to use their tables without ordering anything? But the Peet's management at this location just shrugs. read more

You know what they say - Location, Location, Location! This Peet's location is excellent! You can park right behind in the shared Drager's parking lot and enjoy your fresh brew with your pup in the park across the street. My parents might be the top customers at this Peet's store. They have been coming to this exact location since I was a little kid and buying pounds and pounds of ground coffee for home and their offices. You can pick out a cup of coffee with your grounds too which sometimes I benefit from :) The coffee at Peet's is strong (which you probably already know!) so watch out if you are caffeine-sensitive! read more

Starbucks here has finally pushed me over the edge - incorrectly made drinks, dirty counters, poorly behaved employees - I just couldn't take it anymore and I caved and went to a Peets. This is the closest one to my place. The coffee was better than I remembered the last time I was in a Peets many years ago. Perhaps it's just amount of time away from a PacNW barista but it seems like it's gotten better. This store was in close-down mode when I came in but my drink was made properly, hot and tasty. Peet got a lot more than coffee. I got one of those egg cupcakes. It's called quiche, but I like egg cupcake. This egg cupcake had quinoa and kale in it. That's got to be one of the healthiest cupcakes you can get. I also got the pumpkin bread to go with my healthy cupcake. It's sad that pumpkin bread only comes out this time of year. Pumpkin bread and egg nog should just always be a thing. I understand that pumpkins aren't always in season, but blueberries aren't always in season either. I can still eat blueberry pie as much as I want though. On the other hand, maybe I wouldn't appreciate pumpkin bread as much if I could have it whenever. I might only be obsessed with pumpkin bread and egg nog because I know I can only get it for a limited time. I wish that I could only get healthy food for a limited time. I stopped in since I was close by and a worker (maybe the manager) has them make one that came close to the old one. This location is the 2nd Peet's ever (after the original one on Vine Street in Berkeley). Today it is a super high velocity outlet where throngs of business people on the way to work and post drop-off carpoolers converge for their morning fix of dark roasted Peet's goodness. On weekends the place is swarming with dads in ballcaps and kids on the verge of breaking everything in the store. On mornings they've got 4 or 5 folks working behind the counter and it is a reasonable smooth and efficient operation. A while ago they replaced the heavy wooden pastry display with a glass arrangement that makes it a lot easier to see the folks behind the counter. When a line forms it's not great to sit on the side of the store facing University because the people who are queued up kind of hover over you. I think they do their job here well but IMHO the location on El Camino and Middle is better if you want to sit around and talk or do some email (better floorplan). read more

Yahoo, the sign for the 50% off Javiva drink was in front of the store again. I loved it the last time I came. Thank goodness I just happened to drive by and was thirsty. Had no problems parking since there is a large parking lot behind the store. As I entered the store the smell of coffee was perfect, not too overwhelming and not just a hint. There were a few vacant tables but most were occupied. There was no line so I ordered my Javiva and splurged and got the larger size. I really was thirsty. This time the staff didn't ask about how much whipped cream to put on and he did a great job---lots of whipped cream. Looked and tasted great. Yum Yum. Didn't take very long to make either. My coworker and I recently paid a visit to this Peet's Coffee in Downtown Menlo Park when they were having their "any drink, any size for free" event last Friday to promote their new line of drinks. Usually, I don't have much of a need to go to coffee places, but I'm really glad I came this time around for t'was a great experience! As an aside, for those of you who aren't familiar with the area, Downtown Menlo Park is a small block of restaurants and stores near El Camino. Most of the places here that I've seen are of more of the "mom-and-pop" variety and so I love coming here. One thing to note when this Peet's is that parking can be a pain and I've heard that the police here are very strict about enforcing parking, so make sure you obey the laws! Luckily, there's a huge parking lot right next to the Peets, and usually there are people coming in and out. We found a spot right when we got in and I hope you do too. Since this special promotion was happening for only two hours, we were afraid there would be huge lines. Even though there were plenty of people, we were able to order right away. And even though it was busy busy, the baristas were so nice! My friend and I ordered our drinks and had a good conversation with the barista as well. I really want to give major props to this Peet's because it takes effort and motivation to work during such a busy rush - especially when it's usually slow at this time. My drink came out extraordinarily fast and I found this a great testament to how dedicated the baristas were. I ended up liking my drink, and my coworker downed her's before we even got back into the office! Overall, I had a bomb time at this Peet's Coffee. It was better than I expected, and maybe I'll pay it another visit when in the area. I give this place an "omg, I'd travel 2 hours for this rating" because I had only positive vibes. Excited there's a location so close to me! And this Peet's did not disappoint. Came in 6pm on a Tuesday with no line, few people seated but not too crowded and plenty of open tables/seating. Was greeted immediately by the friendly barista, he was even helpful when deciding what to order (Kosta I believe). I got an iced green tea matcha latte. So yummy! Surprisingly not sweet but still tasty with perfect flavoring. (So much better than Starbucks' nasty sugary powder, definitely tasted healthier). OH MY MY! I cannot begin to believe what actually happened today, 5/30/15 at around 1 p.m. at this Peet's coffee. Walked in with my daughter and husband. We were looking at the board, when the lady behind the counter nastily called out, "You need to place your order over HERE!" Her tone was rude and condescending. All we were doing was looking at the board. There was no, "Hello. May I help you?" As she began to take our order, my daughter changed her mind and decided she wanted a different type of tea. The employee became visibly irritated and huffed. My daughter turned to my husband and said, "Wow. What did WE do?' While waiting for our orders, another man walked in. He was looking at the board and the same employee got even nastier with this man. He said, "I'd like to buy some beans." She yelled out, "Well, then you better get over HERE!" He said something to her that I couldn't understand and she continued to berate him. I could not believe what I was hearing. Meanwhile, I walked over to the very end of the counter where another working (male) was making a drink. I was going to tell him that I wanted to speak to a manager. He looked down at me and barked, "What do you want?" I told him "nothing" and walked back to the cash register where the female employee was continuing to treat the "coffee bean" customer as if he were dirt. At this point, the gentleman was irate beet red in the face. He turned to me extremely angry and said, "I can't believe how bad the customer service is in this place. All I wanted was some coffee beans and this is how I get treated?" I said, "That woman has been utterly rude. She was rude to me, too." He said, "I don't need this. What's wrong with these people?" We got our drinks and as we started to leave, my family and I heard the male employee's voice raise. We turned back and saw an (Asian?) female customer trying to order something. The male employee started laughing at her and said, "You need to speak so I can understand you." I could NOT believe what I was hearing. I was appalled. This Peet's feels more like a "Main Street USA" coffee house, albeit in a high rent district. My favorite Peet's remains the original location in Berkeley, but this one is close. I also like that there are lots of parking options (legit and otherwise). read more
