But after trying it, we were pleasantly surprised and he enjoyed it the most of the 2 tacos he got. The multia was only grilled on 1 side and the other tortilla was just slapped on top. All the other places we go to they grill both sides. It did have a nice cheese layer on it though. Good but would have preferred both sides grilled. Salas were good as well. The meatballs tasted alright but were identical in size and shape so it seems unlikely that those to be made in-house. The shakshuka sauce, however, was delicious and most certainly the proprietors blend. It was made with traditional ingredients like tomatoes, olive oil, peppers, onion, garlic, and seasoned with cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. The flavors were rich and well balanced. It's a good flavor and consistency. The side salad was also delicious with a simple vinegar-based dressing. It comes with a Greek pita which is a kesra like bread. If I had to guess, which I am, I think it's purchased rather than made. While I prefer any kitchens make their ingredients from scratch, both the meatballs and pita were not disappointing. When I arrived, the owner was sitting on a chair in the shade outside. He jumped up and I placed my order. I heard the clanking of pots and pans as he fired up the stove and got busy preparing my dish. I stood at the window for a few and really enjoyed watching him work. About eight minutes later, my order was ready. I then paid by credit card, and there was no tip screen or coffee can on the counter. This guy is old school. Oh, they only do plates and no wraps. As soon as our order was ready, I started eating my fish taco and I was pretty impressed! The fish was nicely fried and they were very generous with the condiments, including cabbage, pico de gallo and a slice of fresh avocado. They even provided slices of radishes and cucumbers as well as limes. It reminded me of the tacos from La Cocina de la Abuela, a brick and mortar in downtown Redwood City that closed in 2021. They had the most amazing fried shrimp and fish tacos and these were just as good! The aguachile was also amazing! The shrimp were surprisingly large and served with avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions. It's perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice! I tried a shrimp from my friend, who ordered the camarones a la cucaracha. The shrimp are cooked in a garlicky, lime sauce and served over a bed of sliced cucumbers and onions to soak up all the tasty sauce. All the food we tried was delicious, and the portions are pretty generous. We discovered that you could call your order ahead, so we will do that the next time we go to save time. I don't have a diverse culinary palate, but there was a hint of a curry(esque) flavor in the filling. Delicious with the sauces. Mango Lassi - 1000000/10. I am a sweet tooth and woah....I absolutely love this drink. It is an Indian mango yogurt drink that is not too thick or sickly sweet. If you're looking for a catering food truck for a small lunch window that delivers high quality and very quick service, I HIGHLY recommend Fire and Rice. Their Hawaiian Asian fusion menu is unique and stands out compared to other Asian or poke trucks I've tried. The garlic shoyu chicken and tuna poke were my personal favorites. I tried some of my coworkers garlic shrimp & Miso tofu too...surprisingly pretty GOOD! With inflation being what it is, their food is absolutely worth the price, and they were also flexible and willing to work within our reasonable budget. I can't recommend them enough. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.
